pls doc what could be causing my constant dizziness and pressure at the right side of my head, have been to the doctors but was asked to do a ct scan which is so expensive, and sometimes I feel hotness and coldness n pinching sign inside the head too
hi there. although your question is outside what the thread is meant for, coming up with a diagnosis isn't done by magic and may be needing some investigations hence u were asked to go for a CT scan probably to rule out the presence of an intracranial space occupying lesion. my dear u just have to rally round to get the needed finance for it and go for the scan. May God see you through . best wishes

Hello Doc. Please I have an eye problem, I need help with.

Year 2000 I was at Ife-Modakeke during the crisis, got a blow on my right eye. It was reddish and painful but cleared up after about 6months of treatment.

But 3 years down the line, I started having blurred and double vision, went to Gen. Hospital Ikeja and surgery was suggested. I ran away.

Went to Optical clinic Ikeja and was told after series of tests that the veins holding my right eyeball are weakened, and that I shouldn't use glasses; because the bad eye could corrupt the good eye.

Please what can I do? I only see clearly with the left eye, the right one is more of a disturbance.

Hello doc. Please can you recommend any drug that would boost my vision. I am short sighted and without my glasses images appear a bit blurry.

hi there. There are no known drug in clinical practice that would make you see better without your glasses. Though we encourage people to use eye antioxidants which is just lyk taking vitamin suppliments but this can't make u see without glasses still

I understand. I find it difficult walking with my glasses on. Objects tend to appear closer than normal, making me miss my steps. It's so bad that I have to come quite close to people to recognise them ( some people think I am a snub because of this). Sad sigh

you shld report back to the clinic fr a redress. they may have to review your prescription or inspect the lenses to ascertain if there was an error from the lens lab

Thanks for asking.

The diagnosis was the same, that the veins around the eyeballs are weakened as an effect of the blow directly on it. As I was told then, the surgery was to correct the eyeball from always moving sideways by itself even when I'm looking straight.

oh OK now I understand . it's your eye muscles not your vein that got affected and this has resulted in strabismus (half past eye). you are having double vision because binocularity has been disrupted (the eyes are now finding it difficult to work together ). you'll have to go for surgery to HV it fixed else over tym, the brain would start neglecting information coming from that eye in an attempt to stop you from seeing double and that eye becomes amblyopic (vision in that eye becomes poor and nothing can be done to make it better)

Thanks for the info. I was afraid I could go blind from the surgery, That's why I ran.

How safe and efficient is the surgery? And cost implication, do you have an idea?

Hello Doc. I would like to know if someone diagnosed with a glaucoma on the early stage, can use glasses to avoid sunlight and for perfect vision.
She always experience high pressure in the eye say 41m and 29m can she loses her sight all of a sudden or its a gradual process. If she is on medication is there any reason to panic over vision lost.
Remember the person still have her vision intact.

hi there , loosing vision in glaucoma is usually gradual and without the person being aware (as the side vision is usually affected first). management of glaucoma needs follow up by the doctor as the goal is to bring the eye pressure to a point that there wouldn't be further loss of vision and this target pressure varies from one individual to another. she would need to adhere to the recommended medication, dosage and keep to her appointments so the doc can always ascertain if the recommended drugs are bringing down the pressure to the target and if there is a progression of the disease . it's usually managed throughout life and with your eye doc involved all through. if she keeps to her meds and appointments, she'll be fine and her vision preserved but if she doesn't, I fear for her vision. most Nigerians are usually careless because the disease is symptomless , they in d long run discontinue meds and do not come for checkups only to show up when they are near blindness or blind from the disease and the painful thing is that the vision lost cannot be recovered . though some docs are to blame for this as they most time fail to educate their patients on the nature of the disease hence the carelessness by most patients out of ignorance .

Those surgery cure glaucoma or those surgery help eye pressure to become there by making one worry free about vision.
What if someone has lost his vision a bit, can lens medication be use for clearer vision.
God bless you Doctor.
