Is that the position??

You just gave us another reason to believe that he did not offer to bribe the journalists. If the Government are after him then he should be bribing the security operatives not the journalists. He made it very clear that he does not want to interfere with the investigation being conducted by the operatives.

Forumites we must say no to wicked religious leaders, this matter should not be swept away. We have had some many issues and we cannot pressure our government and leaders to do the right things. Please let's put the families of the deceased in our shoes. This is so painful.

Striklymi,
I for sure know you to be an introspective and smart lady (I've seen some brilliant post from you). So, I ask, In the face of unfolding event and tragedy of that scale, what is the rational behind the sharing of alms and charity (or generosity) to the poor journalists.

This is not a judgement on your opinion (I respect your right to have one). I really what you to look at it from another perspective and gauge if you still think your assumption is valid

Re: Recording Of TB Joshua Talking To Journalists (Audio) by kalamayat: 8:58pm On Sep 20, 2014
I decided to listen to the audio tape before taking any position in the subject matter, TB Joshua himself new that the money was meant to influence the position of the press because of the gravity of victims at that moment.
I also heard him saying that the press should not insist on the numbers of people that lost their lives, but rather concenterate their report on the survivers. TB Joshua is on a long thing in this building collapse.

Why in a country where 50% could only eat two time a day you will finde the richest pastors in the world-

many pentecost and charismatik pastors preach a heresy gospel because you will never read in the bible that one should sell the gospel and sell miraclles and sell healing that is not what jesus preach.

There is a book where you can read that this is a fake gospel.

Boss13: Please can we for once leave out religion and look at the circumstances of the case. People are dead, foreigners not just locals (because I know we don't have regards for human lives here) as a result of negligence and greed. A building was extended without permit, proper cautions were not in place. Whoever was responsible ought to be discussing with law enforcement officers. We keeps attracting shame to this country. Again, churches need to be regulated and their activities reviewed. Our leaders should sit up and do something, why are they so selfish?

That is with the goverment they belief what the fake pastors told them

Also Pastor christ speaks that he is a man of God and no one shoud speak against him.

Touch not my anointed spiritual abuse

From time immemorial the “priestly class” ha s attempted to exploit the fears of others by suggesting that they are specially chosen (o r “anointed”) by God as authorities. We see evidence of this throughout history – be ginning with ancient Bavel (Babylon) and permutating throughout the plethora of major world religions extant today In Protestant Christianity, and in particular in the so-called “charismatic movement,” there is often a lack of well-defined hierarc hy (i.e., a “priestly class”), but the mantra “touch not my anointed” is sometimes quoted by self- styled leaders as a means of maintain ing control over the members of the assembly. In other words, this phrase is interpreted (by them) as “I am not to be criticized, since I am one of God’s anointed ones!” But does the Scripture actually imply this, or is this a case of abusing the plain meaning of the Word of God in order to manipulate others?

Touch not my anointed ones, do my prophets no harm! (1 Chron 16:22)

First of all this phrase is actually a verse from a shirah (song) of Asaph embedded into the account of the return of the Aron Kodesh (ark) to the ohel (tent) as given in Divrei Hayamim

(Chronicles). We need to begin with that as an unde rstanding of the type of literature we are reading. Compare Psalm 105:15.
Secondly, the passage in question refers not to prophets of the LORD in the New Covenant sense, but to the original patriarchs - and is most likely a direct reference to when Avimelekh (Abimelech) was rebuked by the LORD in a dream not to touch Sarah (see Genesis 20:2-ff).

Third, quoting this verse as a means of jus tifying any sort of special entitlement for oneself (or others) entirely misses the point of the Mashiach Yeshua’s teachings about “servant leadership”:

Whoever would be first among you must be slave of all. (Mark 10:44)

Do you want a “title”? How about servant? The servant of the LORD is to be humble, willing to bear up the flock of the LORD with tenderness and compassion. He (or she) is not to be "as the Gentiles" who seize power in order to "lord it over" others:

The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordsh ip over them, and those in authority over them are called benefactors. But not so with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves. (Luke 22:25-6)

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted (Luke 14:11)

Of course there may be cases where a pastor or teacher needs to exercise their God-given role as an authority, though this is normally in response to those who have persistently acted contrary to sound doctrine and who seek to incite rebellion in others. The Apostle Paul provides guidelines for such discipline in some of his letters. But whenever someone claims that they are "anointed" and should not be questioned, the red flags should start waving and you should be on your spiritual guard

Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show
his works in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish
ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace. (James 3:13-18)

I just wonder why some folks just proceed to comment on Nairaland from a heart completely roasted by sheer biasness.

That audio clip doesn't portray bribe. Its very clear, he never talked of them twisting their reports to favor him.

This is Nigeria, you do that daily one way or the other.
Una go settle police, lecturers, project supervisors, helpers, bankers... Not always to bribe them to pervert their right judgement but as a sign of good gesture.

He that has never done this before should cast the first stone.

Mind you, I'm not defending prophet Joshua. Werin concine me?

It is usually very futile proving a VOICE recording in a court of law, except with impeccable dexterity from a seasoned lawyer.

That being said, I believe in the audio recording as true and undoctored.

As to whether or not it is a bribe, I agree that "#50,000 for fuel" is not a true and honest statement. The Bible uses the word 'gift' to refer to bribe when it says "accept not gifts, for it blinds the eyes". It would therefore be safe to assume that the journalists were called in for a press conference to be given "gifts" (of a tape and 'fuel money'), which in turn determined what is to be reported.

My honest advice to TB Joshua is that he gets really careful. The pressure that this accident is bringing may get him to do uncomely things. But then pressures too show the true stuff we are made of.

RIP to the "martyrs". May their loved ones find fortitude.

Am a big fan of tbj and his generosity BUT was enveloping 50k to journalist necessary atm of mourning and tragedy.

Well he's still human and made the mistake of tipping the journalist at that particular moment THUS made it seem like a bribe even tho I know its just in his habit to give at every circumstance and I trust some people to pounce on any opportunity to tag the mog fake.
