i don't think that getting a perm/relaxer symbolizes self hate. many people have been getting this done to their hair for years so they're used to the ease of styling straight hair. many look at having natural hair a big commitment so that's why they choose to stay relaxed. i have a relaxer [well not really, I'm trying to grow it out. I haven't had a relaxer in 9 months simply because I'm tired of straight hair, so I'm going natural] and i love myself and my natural texture.

wearing wigs and weaves definately does NOT symbolize self hate. even natural women wear wigs and weaves. in fact wearing weaves and wigs can help your hair grow because it allows you to leave your hair alone as to not manipulate it. less manipulation means less breakage and less breakage means healthier hair
