I agree that they should find a way to optimize the programme but to say it's value is restrained to media publications alone is I don't agree with. I have checked the profile of a lot of scholars, most of whom have gone on to find roles in and out of the industry. At the end of the day, education and improvement of the quality of your labor force never goes to waste. Scholars can be better utilized yes but I don't find the current system as having no benefit.

Given the tumultuous nature of the economy, I reckon it will be very difficult to get a solid commitment from these firms to accommodate around 200 (assuming we're not including PhD) scholars yearly. Companies in this industry are already cutting down on recruitment to begin with. In fact, most of them are downsizing. The fact that you said graduates in these more advanced countries are resorting to menial jobs says a lot. This makes the whole situation very tricky. As far as government agencies go what you're describing is not quota system but nepotism, indicative of the kakistocracy we live in. All round the inefficiencies you speak of are a microcosm of the whole economy and give rise to a chicken vs egg question. In the end, I truly believe that one should have the tools to find his way after he's done studying whether it's in this country or somewhere else.

My Take on the PTDF Interview:


8,000 persons were shortlisted for interview. The interviews are still on going till June 10.

Many people are already saying the interview is formality and it boils down to the following reasons.

Some where interview for 5mins, some 10mins and some 15mins. (Both Virtually and physically).

Some people were asked for some documents, why some where not asked for. Like publications. Those that did virtually most of them were not asked for any documents.

PTDF can reduce this numbers by doing exactly what they are doing now before they invite people for interview. Since we all submitted same documents during application process, why not award marks base on the documents submitted and those with high grade or marks should be invited for the interview to reduce the numbers?

Then during the interview, verify the documents and asked questions on the SOPs.

What they are doing at the moment are things they should have done before inviting people for interview.

My humble opinion. If we have people working in PTDF or pls the PTDF Scholars take this home and suggest this to them.

I think publications are required for phd candidates

It's just a project until you publish it on a peer reviewed journal.
I hear in some centres, panelists were there with computers and internet to check if what you claim was published is actually published

I had mine in Abuja too, Tuesday. Exactly as yours went, so did mine. What was the time duration of your interview?

First, I was asked for my WAEC and BSc and I gave both certificates to them. Then, I was asked if I belonged to a professional body and I presented them with the evidence. Then some questions from two of the judges there, after which I was asked for a publication and that, I do not have (felt bad about this).

One thing I still want to understand though is this; could one's undergraduate project serve as a publication, even when it is practical work and not research-based?

Summary, dress formal like people said here (I was asked why I did not wear a tie despite dressing formal), belong to professional bodies, have a publication, get ready to answer a few questions and pray (if you believe in God).

Ptdf hasn't said anything about proof of provisional admission, are they going to demand it at the interview? If yes, we have less than 10days to get admission which I doubt is possible.

I just got shortlisted for a ptdf scholarship to universities either in Germany, France or Malaysia. One prerequisite is that I must first gain admission in any of the countries. How do I apply for admission for in either Germany or France?

I just acquired a two plots of land very close to indorama petrochemical plant along east west road, rivers state. It is quite a busy place because of the company's workers and truck drivers who come to load the petrochemical products and fertilizers.

I'm thinking of what to do with the property. These are my thoughts:
1. A car wash along with a relaxation centre like a lounge where drinks and food will be sold
2. A brothel
3. A warehouse where distributors can load their products from the company before moving them.
4. A trailer pack where truck drivers will pay to pack their trucks before loading products.
5. A shopping complex where traders will rent from me

Please men of the house I seriously need advice. Straight to the point, we've been married for 6 years now and I love her so so much, our compatibilities is 100%. We have a beautiful baby girl and we are still currently living together at the moment.
Since we married things has been extremely bad for us unlike before we married. Though I myself was down with sickness for years that almost took my life but God revived me and she stays with me. My business doesn't require my presence (networking) because currently am still getting money but not much. let's say 20k average which of course not much for the family.

Now here is my problem, from 3 or 4 different CONFIRMED sources we were told that my lack of money it's from her that she belongs to a spiritual evil cult (Elegbe omo) that her own is spiritual rags group (egbe akitan, or alakisa) that whoever sleeps with them, their things will going down for them, finance wise and all. I hope I described it well tho and that even she herself is not aware but they do tell her severally. and she has been praying yet things keep getting worse for us.

in fact sometimes ago a pastor saw a vision for her that whoever sees her physically putting on a good cloth that she's beautiful but spiritually it is rags on her body. That she will Pray and fast for 3 days (deliverance) which she did yet things keeps getting worse for me in fact right now I am begging to feed.

When I realized this I stopped having sex with her for months and my business really really improved.
Throughout last year I can count how many times we had sex not up to 4 times and I did not cheat on her because I love her so much but for how long? It's not easy to be on the same bed with your wife and not want to have it but anytime we have it we must suffer for it for months.

The guy had job opportunities from his wife's people but blew it claiming that his internet job pays him more. His wife's people had empowered him with money but he blew it on internet work that yielded nothing. He currently is squatting with his wife and kids in his sister in-law's house where he does nothing but eat and sleep. His sister in-law pays his son's fees. He believes in prophecies than he believe in hardwork.

Bro, if your story is like this dude's, you are digging your grave. When you get to 50yrs+ when you can't work hard or do certain things again is when you'll understand that excuses don't put food on the table.

Which Canada? He's likely to be asked to pay for his PhD or told that funding doesn't exist. If you apply to universities in Japan or Canada, they will want to admit you only when you assure them you have funding because 9/10, they don't have enough to fund prospective PhD students who are outside those countries.


But you see the US? There's always money, just do the needful. Forget whatever pandemic, vaccine don show and Biden is president. Do the needful and all things being equal, you start classes in 2022 class.

Congratulations. Not a single interview yet over 500 applications. That's my my beef with many engineering courses. They aren't as lucrative as people think. Op is it in Nigeria you did the masters? If it's in Nigeria just write the GRE and focus on getting into a PhD in the USA. There's no chemical engineering jobs in Nigeria.

I did it in Nigeria. I'm strongly considering the GRE but for the pandemic which probably may be making travelling to the U.S. difficult

Congratulations. Don't go for a PhD yet, go and learn something practical in chemical engineering. You could advance the reverse osmosis for existing water companies, there's a lot you can do with this master degree.
