It is when you attend occasions that you will know that the average Nigerian is a long throat, regardless of their financial status.

They will just be struggling for food like people that haven't eaten in ages, and this sometimes makes me feel embarrassed on their behalf.

That said, I hardly attend social gatherings, but when I do, eating is not an option for me.

You see that second hand embarrassment ehh. The struggle for party food and souvenir knows no age, tribe nor financial status. Nobody acknowledges that they've gotten anything until they've had their package and a couple more to go home with.

Learned to always eat to my fill at home before leaving and maybe dash in for some snacks on the way(to last me awhile til I'm back home, 2FA). Wouldn't be outsideee if I really didn't want to in the first place.

Seriously lagos is really smelling more now. My area is filled with waste. The lawma guys have not come to pack waste for about 2 months now, and we paid. The entire stretch of ishefun road down to megida is filled with waste on the demarcation. It has never been this bad. And this is rainy season.
Whenever I walk inside the streets, you cant help but cover your nose as you see heap of waste on every compound.

As a 1990s guy, I remember that the most exciting time of the year was always December. Once the year got to December, everything changed. There would be harmattan, the sounds of knockouts and fireworks in the air, and families travelling to their villages from the cities— even overseas families weren’t left out. Cultural displays were everywhere.

I remember how the village children would look at us and treat us like we were some kind of angelic beings with great privileges. In fact, Christmas was never truly Christmas unless it was spent in the village. Life was simple, and there was unity and trust among family members.

I can’t forget those early days when we didn’t have a borehole in our family house, and we had to wake up very early in the morning to fetch water from the village stream. Because of the harmattan cold, none of us—my siblings and I—dared to enter the stream. Thank God for Ukeme, my grandmother’s house help.

I also can’t forget the village football tournaments, the love, and the moments we shared. Everything changed when our grandparents passed, and till today, nobody cares about spending Christmas in the village anymore. I’m now a man, and I know the younger ones will never have those kinds of experiences.

Such good memories, dah year!!! Used to feel giddy looking forward to December and the yuletide season. Cannot say so for now/recent times. A lot has happened, nothing feels the same.

Everything as is in accordance to God's will. Man proposes, God disposes. I wouldn't have thought things to steer in this direction. Thank you Lord for I'm trusting even when I do not understand but I have no single iota of doubt that it will be worth the while❤️🙏🏽🙏🏽

How is it that you have such goals and then say "I’m not really a fan of making plans"? You probably think those reasons are valid, try to be open-minded. You should know that things don't sometimes go as planned and that may not be on you.

Many have felt disappointed(due to certain steps/actions) at different points in life but that didn't deter some of us from working towards 'the better'. There's a saying that goes "when you fail to plan, you plan to fail". Take a good look at your goals again and think deeply, how do I intend to achieve these one at a time? Most importantly personal dev and finance, sustainability.

Even in the what ifs and what nots, you still need to think of next plan of action and how to navigate it to some kind of fulfilment too. That it didn't go 'this' way doesn't mean it cannot go 'that' other way. In all, strive to keep one foot in front of the other. Shalom!
