President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the appointment of Mr Eze Duruiheoma as the new chairman of the Nigerian Population Commission to replace the former chairman Mr Festus Odimegwu who resigned his appointment some weeks back. Sourced from ait news. |
And indeed Willie Will Work.No room for APC in S/E.
I feel that the APC knew it pretty well that it can't win APGA in Anambra (at least not now) but it had to give it a shot. If the APC had taken that unnecessary rally it had in Abuja to Anambra the news wont have been cheering at all. It'd only make sense for Ngige to swallow his pride and allow the result as it is rather than waste the fund his party'd use to prosecute governorship elections in Osun and Ekiti states in 2014 and the general elections in 2015. |
It's my hope and expectation that now that Obiano has won he'll deliver on his mandate. His slogan was Willie Will Work. Let's watch and see. |
Utorogwu: I knw Ngigi wil be tinking of going 2 court wit his blod suckers party. Hahahahahahahaha a loser wil always remain a loser. It's rather disturbing that the problem the people of Anambra (and indeed Nd'Igbo) seem to have with Ngige is not his personality but his party. This has a lot to tell us about the Nigerian politics and the political populace. |
Meanwhile, the Acting national publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alh. Lai Mohammed has vowed that the APC will challenge the outcome of the election in court. The governor-election has urged the other contestants to join forces with him to bring the desired change and development in the state while saluting their desire to work for the growth of Anambra state. |

The final Anambra state Governorship election figures from INEC: (1) Willie Obiano (APGA) = 180, 178 votes (Declared Governor-elect) (2) Tony Nwoye (PDP) = 97, 700 votes (3) Chris Ngige (APC) =95, 963 votes (4) Ifeanyi Ubah (LP) = 37, 495 votes Total number of votes cast = 442, 242 Total number of valid votes = 425, 254 Total number of rejected votes = 16, 988 APGA won in 16 Local Govt Areas: Aguata, Ayamelum, Anambra East, Anambra West, Anaocha, Awka North, Awka South, Ekwusigo, Ihiala, Njikoka, Nnewi South, Ogbaru, Onitsha North, Onitsha South, Orumba North and Orumba South. The PDP won in Oyi and Dunukofia. APC won in Idemili North and South. Labour party won in Nnewi North. |
The culture that everyone MUST grovel under one particular table proposed by a particular person or small group of persons in the APC is just too bad. Why can't the party ever conduct a primary election in its fold? Why can't aspirants test their popularity among the people in the polls? Why the aversion for competition? Ekiti and Osun will be going to the polls by 2014, I hope if the APC wins in the elections they'd not come to Abuja again to call for the sack of Jega. |
Kwarans, how on earth do you call the ransome by one family on an entire state an abiding faith?! Free yourselves from mental slavery and psychological conquest and save the future of your children and children's children. There's no comradeship in what those spellbound imbecilic chairmen and councilors have done! |
It's such a shame that up to this minute there's not even a single topic on the frontpage that says anything about the Anambra election result/victory! |
There may very likely exist some political strings to the ASUU strike but the reasons you advanced, my friend, don't seem to hold water to me because you don't even know that UNILORIN didn't join in the strike action. The Union there is divided on the issue. Go and confirm what I've just said. |
This is the whole truth about this saga: These politicians make their incandiscence, they create huge sales for newsmedia outfits, newspapers sale like purewater and internet news sites jam in huge traffic, ordinary citizens get hysterical in unending and incongrueable arguments. The politicians sit on their gold-rimmed sofa in the balcony at Continental hotel and Best Western Island hotel suites overlooking the majestic atlantic in Ikoyi and sipping the best of wines and spirits and cognacs massaging their swelling bellies while even pedestrians are made to pay tolls for walking along an uncompleted, poorly built roads in the nation they are supposed to share patrimony in. |
payless: @Mumu9gerian, keep deceiving yourself with deceitful headings. Your boss is drowning at a fasting rate and you shall all drown in the ocean with him the way you are doing. I don't know if you have a live jacket to save you at this moment. This merger will work. Orientation of new memebers is underway. You should be able to see clearly by March 2014. Ebora owu has perfected the one term ticket for ogogoro master. Ebora owu has not started fighting publicly and you all Jonathanians already sweating in your hairy backs and chests. By the time ebora owu starts fighting in public, Otuoke is the only destination for She-popotamus and He-popotamus.Trust me, I don't hail any divide in this imbroglio but reading thru this your comment and so many others you've made in the past I wonder how on earth you cannot make your views and opinions clear in an argument without insulting other people with contrary opinion. I'd strongly suggest you drop this puerile deliquency before it totally becomes your default setting even in a face to face debate. Am saying this now even at the risk of receiving my own share of your insolence. |
This is just stating the obvious. We know that even the so-called media, civil society organizations, religious brotherhoods, socio-cultural organizations, etc are guilty of this sin not only the politician. Please, my brother Omojuwa, you'd need to go to Osun state and sing this into the ears of Mr Rauf Aregbesola and the so-called Justice and Equality Organization. |
In an electoral jurisdiction with one point seven million registered voters, only a little above four hundred thousand voters participated. APGA won only one hundred and something thousand votes. There's a possibility of sympathy votes in those areas were election is inconclusive, and the outstanding number is huge enough to upturn the victory of APGA. |
tayooluwole: we re nt supportin APC cos some of d founders are yorubas bt cos we re enjoyin their administratn...they re realy trying in sspeeding up development in d respective state under their control....u can also support APGA if u know they re performing well...okThere's an Igbo proverb that says that in a forest where there are no grasshoppers the cricket is a king. You can only make such an uninformed spurious assertion because you've not travelled to the east. Do you want to tell me that you've not heard or read from the federal and international statistical agencies that the SE has the lowest level poverty rate in Nigeria? That in fact extreme poverty is completely absent in a most rural areas of the SE? You may not want to argue this because you're possibly living in self delusion. I wonder how you think these exceptionally and globally acclaimed industrious Igbos could be so underdeveloped. Please, tell me, apart from Lagos, which other city can the SW boast of as the SE boasts of Aba, Onitsha, Nnewi, Owerri, Awka? Before you answer the question, tell me, in all sincerity, if you've visited these cities. If not....well, I hear someone talk of living in fo.ols paradise. Pls, be informed that that papa Emeka hawking shoes at Sango bridge has his 3 kids FUTO, IMSU, and ABSU, and is definitely travelling to the "village" this Christmas into his 4-bedroom flat apartment. He's also bought a land in Ifako where he's already started to gradually mould bricks for developing the land from next year. Stop being deceived son. |
I sincerely sympathize with the APC for the Idemili case. But mr writer please don't come up with the Justice and Equity Organization crap. It's the gravest indictment on APC and the gov't and (good) people of Osun state. This sin is unforgivable, and thank God they were caught in Imo where one of their own presides over. |
Am thinking it's too early to raise the victory song. My opinion would poll for Obiano but it's like the fans here are counting the chicks before they're hatched. Dora was leading in the preliminary results been bandied about in 2011 Senatorial contest until the tide turned. Just a reminder. |
Ngige (ACN, Anambra). I thought it's said that he sponsored (or is it co-sponsored) the Anti-Gay Rights Bill? Or am I not correct 'cause I strongly feel he's the main target in this particular article. (Without any sentiments) Am sure Dora Akunyili would've been a far much better representative for the Anambra central people at the Senate more than Ngige. Most well informed Nigerians will agree with me on this. But, wait a minute, some people can be so basely redundant. How on earth can a human stay in office for as long without a single record of bringing something to the table! Yet these are the very people who even want to carry the entire table home! |
If Ngige looses here then he should be crimated alive because this is his home zone. In fact, I think it should give him some concern that APGA could garner the much votes they garnered here because most of works done during Ngige's 3yrs in office were done here. Pls, APGA fanclub should not take my comment for a victory for them 'cause this result is too infinitesimal to be reckoned with. Finally, let the best win. God bless Nd'Igbo. |
In my candid opinion, I think Mr Adeyeye is very wrong by saying this. We're humans with limited vision and calculation, so he shouldn't be absolutely sure of his checkered assumptions. In life, it's not always safe to say absolutes like this one. Although, I'd agree that with the current setting of the APC it doesn't seem like they have the sophistication to march the PDP at the centre in 2015 election. BUT TO SAY THEY'LL NEVER IS DEAD WRONG. If things continue to move thus, it'll be a walkover for the PDP. However, even between now and 2015 a lot can still change. |
teeo: At least Dora wasn't attacked by Yoruba's it was her own kinsmen who attempted to assassinate her. Dora got thousands of threats but until an actual one was carried out she didn't get the "sophisticated" auto. I hope you know you can't compare the alleged threats Stella claim to be receiving to that of DoraRemember, am not [and will not] brazenly support corruption. But I don't think we may have to wait until the 1st shot is dealed on Mrs Stella before we agree that there's been imminent danger to the minister's life. Dora faced her threat from her people because they felt the pain of her actions. Yorubas came on the crucible here because they dominate the Nigerian aviation industry. |
teeo: You couldn't have said it better, every Yoruba youth speaks against their corruption leaders. Very few Yoruba's defended Bode George but the tribalistic igbos would hasteningly come to defend their own and I wonder who would let them become president with this attitude.I've tried not to exonerate the enbattled minister of the alleged crime but you'd note a few things that have informed the position of most Igbos in this Oduah saga: 1. Sobowale had on Feb 24 2013 said in his article on Vanguard that the Yorubas have prepared to fight the minister to a standstill with all they have because of some unverifiable percieved tribal antagonism. Igbos see this saga as a clear manifestation of that rabid threat. 2. Igbos got very provoked at the corrosive vocality with which the Yorubas were asking for her summary dismissal even when she's not been given a fair hearing. Even Bode George, Tafa Balogun, etc were not jailed before their trail. Bankole is still enjoying his several tens of billion naira loot. Patricia Etteh was investigated before impeachment, and the list goes on. Why the haste to uproot Stella extra-judicially? 3. The said car was not bought in her name. It was for the use of the agency. With the plethora of threats to life which the minister recieves even from aviation workers (filled with disconcerted Yoruba folks) it may not be entirely out of place for the minister to need greater security for her. Obasanjo bought a more sophisticated auto for Dora when her life was in danger. And, finally, I hope with this, you'd not say again that Igbos are "defending" their "corrupt" sister just on the grounds of ethnicity. I am Igbo and I'd speak against evil no matter who commits it. It'd praise good even if it's performed by someone am not in perfect friendship with. |
If the new meaning of SCAM is to break some retrogressive beraucracies just to get the job done, then I think Nigeria and Nigerians need more of those scams in our airports, roads, rails, waterways, hospitals, schools, farms, power, etc. Infact, even in our religious circles. The singular crime Stella committed here was to remodel the airports too fast without waiting for all the beraucracies. And who're those petitioning union workers? Oh, sorry, the Ife young boys and girls which FFK doled out jobs unmeritoriously to while he transiented at the aviation ministry. SR should come up with a more sophisticated strategy. This one didn't sell. |
'...My President..' I think Jonathan is a signpost of humility. But wait, it's the same hundred billion that's been given to ASUU since over two months. So why protracting the strike action when they'd eventually accept the money and resume work? Ok, maybe they just needed to visit the Aso Villa and have a Presidential handshake. For a meeting that lasted for about 13hrs it means they had two square meals in the villa! O'boy, this na correct strategy. ASUU don folo chop the 1Bn naira food budget for the villa...lol. Don't mind me. Maybe ASUU just wanted to hear from the horses mouth the full assurance that the FG will definitely be faithful to the pact this time around. But, chill let me open my suspected political undercurrent to this: for ASUU to be doubly sure of their 1.1trn between 2004 to the next five years, then it has to mobilize itself and its disciples to support Jonathan's re-election in 2015 either overtly or covertly. Otherwise they may have to start this negotiation all over again. Jonathan na master planner. Who say this man na clue-worefa!...lol. Just let the kids return to class shapali |
The Police in Rivers state has taken over the entire precincts of the Port Harcourt International airport in Omagwa ahead of the visit of major leaders of the opposition All Progressives Congress APC to Rivers governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi. The governor is expecting the visit of the likes Alj Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, Chief Bisi Akande, Alhj Lai Mohammed. Several police trucks have been deployed to the airport by the Rivers state command of the NPF to ensure absolute order and peace in and around the airport. The police team is led by the deputy commissioner of police in the state. Meanwhile the gate of the Rivers state Gov't House in Forces Avenue in Port Harcourt has been besieged by over a hundred citizens thereby causing traffic gridlock along Azikiwe Road to the Mile 1 Park. It'll be recalled that the planned visit of the APC leaders has generated a lot disquiet in the state recently so much that the PDP state chairman in the state Mr Felix Obuah has said the governor should be held responsible for any disruption of public peace in the state today as the APC leaders visit. Rivers state has had recorded incident of hostility to opposition visit lately. Heavily armed police personnel have also taken over the Bricks' House so as to maintain peace, security and order as the dignitaries visit the state. |
If this is not just a sensational white elephant project then I'd say it's a very good and lofty idea. I've even advocated for private airport and heliport facilities to be allowed in Nigeria just like in other advanced economies. I think if this project comes to fruition it'll really drive competition and good service delivery and will leave users with options to choose from. But wait, if LASG is planning to build an Int'l Airport why then was Capt Dele saying that making Enugu an Int'l airpot will negatively affect domestic airservice in Nigeria? Or is this one that's just a few meters from MMA not going to affect domestic airservice again? I think sometimes we make our sentiments a little too obvious in this country. |
Although I'd preferred that the school is fully remodelled to meet world class, and then name after Chinua Achebe but Odimegwu Ojukwu University gives imports dignity and power and pride than the Evan Enwerem wanted to foist on IMSU in those days. That name, Ojukwu, carries with itself a bellicose freight that sends a shiver down the spines of some people wherever it's mentioned. Even those who hate the man cannot deny the gall that tastes in their mouth whenever they mention his name. |
Two months before the full registration of the APC, Alh Lai Mohammed said that APC govs will rise to 23 after the first two weeks of its registration. More than two months after its full registration Gov Okorocha Rochas said that the APC govs would soon be 23. Uptill today, APC is still salivating for 23 govs. Is this a case of counting your chicks before they're hatched? Again, why the shopping for members from the PDP fold? That means that the PDP as an entity is not the problem of our nation as they'd have us believe because apart from 1 or 2 govs I don't see anyone among the G7 who should qualify for "Progressive". Lastly, I think the APC should not allow the drive for quantity overtake the need for scrutiny and quality. |
All in an effort to keep the topic affloat in the newstream! Well, the Presidential probe panel, I believe, is still enquiring into the case, so PremiumTimes and my friend OP can forward their MultipleChoice Questions. |
