Igbo don't eat that lousy pomo

They eat KANDA...it is hides with meat

Igbo don't calm Japa

The words Igbo borrowed are Ashewo and Agbero cos they are Yoruba Inventions
Is the word kanda not from hausa?

That is the question you should be asking the poster and Reno Omokri who claimed Egusi soup belonged to Yoruba.
The name egusi might be of Yoruba origin because we have other names for in it Igboland what does not belong to Yoruba is the soup.
Okra was adopted by the English from the Igbo word Okwuru that does not mean okra soup belonged to ndi Igbo alone.
What other names do you have for egusi?

What belongs to Yoruba is the name egusi not the soup.Yoruba did not introduce melon to ndi Igbo what we adopted is the name egusi just like many Nigeria nigerians have adopted Ugu vegetable... .
Are you now trying to lay claims to the soup even though it's eaten all over west Africa and even in Congo?

Even Yoruba people know that the word "Egusi" doesn't originate from them. There's about three different words (according to the dictionary shown here) they use for "melon" but the Igbo only have one.

If this guy had any background in linguistics then he would know what that means.
One word can mean different things depending on the context. The same things happens in English.
Politics › Re: Isi-agu Is Upholstery Material For Chairs, Not owned by Igbos - Reno Omokri (pic by 1Sharon(f): 12:57am On Nov 05, 2024
I found this:

The Kalabari, have been using gold embroidered velvets imported by Europeans from India. Looking at the cloth, it’s obvious the ‘lion’ designs are not indigenous Igbo motifs. The design of the Isi Agụ itself resembles the wokor and other men’s wear worn in the delta areas which seem to have been designed based off of Victorian English dress shirts. In the case of why it’s isi agụ and not isi ọdụm, this design came very recently, and the double consciousness of Western and indigenous civilisation had already confused the ultimate Igbo ‘prestige animal,’ the leopard, agụ, for the Western one, the lion.

Again, lions are nowhere near as relevant in Igbo folklore and custom as leopards are.

The same way as a broke man with a fancy car.

EMIOMOADEOYE:
I think you'll find that only 20% of Welsh speak Welsh. They speak English.

Now as for rankings, rankings are generally subjective.

And you will have to define the context to put things in proper perspective.

Think about this. There are currently 23 words I know of in the Oxford English Dictionary that were derived from Nigeria's form of English.

You can't say the same about any other African country.

If you're subjecting everything to the rules of the colonial masters, then yes, maybe Kenya and Uganda are good at following those rules.

But Nigeria is a very dynamic entity. We have 4 official languages in Nigeria. English, Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba. And all of them directly relate to each other. Kenya has only one official language. Much of those 23 English words I know of are literal translations of expressions in each of these other 3 languages. And because Nigerians are widely dispersed throughout the world, these words found global acceptance so much so they were adopted into the dictionary.

So, when you say a certain country speaks better than Nigeria, it's merely speaking within the confines of a colonial construct.

Nigerians are very fluid. We don't live by rules. We live by expression. And we are blessed with the ability to assert our expressions.
Once again, I'm sure what the Welsh have to do with this situation. I would like the source for your statistics please.

Apparently not. But then, neither of us know for sure under which law his first marriage was contracted (no speculating). Under customary law, a man is allowed to take more than one wife. So it's an unspoken rule that any union entered here has the potential of being polygamous.
Customary my ass.

That's the first step towards practicing polygamy. People court before getting married. How do you not know this??

The difference here is that Yul was already married to somebody else. Did he tell May he was polygamous before he married her?

I wasn't sure of it his religion when I wanted to post that. But Yul is not the only Christian in Nigeria to embrace polygamy, right?

First, he didn't have to if didn't love the woman. Marrying her means that love was involved before the pregnancy. Many single men refused to marry ladies who got pregnant for them because they insisted that they didn't love those ladies. Unwanted pregnancy can't make you marry a woman you don't want to be with in this age
In other words, all the women that Ned married all knew what the deal was. They all knew he was a polygamist.

You don't marry one woman like Yul did and suprise her years down the line with another woman. That's deceptive.

Most? That's a sweeping statement.

Do you have any actual statistic to back up your claim that "most Nigerians" have VERY poor command of spoken and written English?

Did you know that the form of English Reno was speaking in that video will fall short under British rules for English? Nigerian English has it's own form. It's a mix of American and British. So if you say Nigerians have a poor command of English, it's because you have failed to take context into considerati

Did you know that only 43% of the population of England and Wales speak English very well?
Kenyans & Ugandans have a better command of English compared to Nigerians. I wonder where Nigerians got their brand of English from because they were both colonised by the same people.

I'm not sure why you've mentioned Welsh people because they're not English and have nothing to do with this situation. I would like the source of your stats pls

You're as hopeless as how you quoted me. For your information I have passed it many times and I don't need it . It's because you're mentally attached to slavery . You need to disabuse your mind and raise your head up like someone who has purpose in life.

Conclusively, the one you wrote where has it taken you to. You still bank in someone to pay you salary to feed on. Fucking sell out.

Asking you any questions here is nothing but a complete waste of time. Just try get senseless just for once. Those oyinbo you see so , no be all of them fit write and speak proper English. Sogbo
A comma comes after 'information'. A question mark comes after 'to'. Bank on someone not 'bank in' someone.

You try.

I think the lack of book culture is largely to blame on Tradition/Religion. Our cultures and our religions do not typically promote the mining of knowledge and application of knowledge in such a way as to benefit us both at the family, community, and societal levels. So, the typical Nigerian child is discouraged from a young age from investing more in that curiosity in life in the acquisition of knowledge. Books are there majorly for studying and building a successful career out of and not much else. undecided
We're saying the same thing.
