1stGenAmerican: It isn’t unusual for a garbage man to make $75-100,000 usd per year.
A hair braider working from her home can easily make over $5,000 per month. American women pay $200 for braids that would cost $25 in Nigeria. I know two Ghanaian sisters who each average about 2 heads per day and work five days a week. That’s $8,000 a month, $6,000 on a bad month and imagine if they worked on Saturday. The Senegalese are also making a killing braiding and that isn’t a professional job. Oh yes I know our counterparts in America make a killing. But this isn't the situation in Europe |

Yes I was born in the UK, does that make you mad? Not all of us are immigrants my darling I've never discouraged from anybody from travelling because I've never had such a conversation! You are being dodgy and evasive in your communication. Come out and say what you want mean with "your full chest". You are not trying to discourage anyone. But what is with the cold and princess treatment story? You are trying to be diplomatic so that it won't seem like you are one of those who discourage people.
I'm telling you that old people are living abroad in cold places and prefer to stay there. But you insist that they don't like it but are staying there because they are trapped. So since you are here, I will ask you some questions.
What exactly is trapping these old people that they can't come back because of the cold?
Are all the elderly.people who have decided to stay abroad despite the cold trapped?
Have all the elder people abroad complained to you?
You know some, doesn't mean you know all. Can you go back and read my first response to you and stop asking me dumb questions. You said you don't want to read anything and yet you expect me to repeat myself. Getat |

Lol but with Nigerian politicians, notice that despite the money they siphon. They still return to their homeland. They are old men. |

AdeolaOmoOba: Olodo rabata! Read the News and understand. Did Ashimolowo hand over the church leadership to him?
He was made an Associate Pastor o! Resident Pastor 2, for that matter. Someone who doesn't even have the Final say over that particular congregation. The church council is there and all.
Did you think Ashimolowo single-handedly appointed him to that position? A conglomerate of churches with Board of trustees. Do you think they are in the Nigerian system?
Ewu! You are very biased and bitter. Wake up goat. Get out of here. When ashimolowo dies, who do you think is the next overseer in line? Look at Synagogue, his wife took over. The senior pastors in the church were bypassed. When they tell you church is a family business, you ask why. Wake up sheep. |

ImaIma1: You speak like you know how everything should work in every country abroad. She has done omugwo for people a couple of times, even outside her province.
We are talking about people getting discouraged about travelling. Let me ask; were you discouraged by people not to travel when you wanted to? If yes, did you still travel? Why?
You said cold, now it's about the princess treatment. If they can't deal with the treatment as a result of difference in culture, they can go back home. But according to you, ALL of them are trapped. Trapped by what? You don't want to own up that life is better there than it is in Nigeria despite the supposed cold.
This is actually what the guy was talking about. People abroad always looking for how to stop others from coming over with reasons that didn't stop they themselves from going.
If you still went despite what people said about hard life and the cold, let others also go and experience it too and decide they don't want it. Oh right, so she's working illegally. Was born in the UK my darling. Did I ever say life is not better in the West? Is that what our argument is about? @ the bolded. If you properly read my first response to you I mentioned the weather AND the princess treatment. Pls go back and read my initial response to you and comprehend. |

ImaIma1: You underestimate these people or you just use some to judge all. The mum lived in Lagos all her life. In fact she was a teacher in one of the state schools till she retired. She's about late 60s now.
She works sometimes. She used to go and visit but now, she hardly comes back.
Those ones that complain can't stand the cold, yet they stay because ALL of them are trapped, ALL! They know what life is like in Nigeria. Forget cold.
The cold has not killed them. If they are dying because of it, the trap will release itself. Works as what? If she's not a citizen or has permanent residence, how did she get a job? Or has she been there that long? It's not just about the cold. It's also about the princess treatment |

ImaIma1: I think a lot of them acclimatize. This same Canada that people are screaming about. My very close friend stays there in Ottawa. Her mum used to visit till the woman has refused to come back. Her siblings too moves and settled down in Ottawa.
I've never heard her say her mum wants to come back because of cold.
Another big aunt of mine abandoned her husband and moved to the UK. Cold has not sent her back for years. If it's that detrimental to their health, they would come back. Besides, there are old people from those regions who are still alive.
Also, you should know that Nigerians are very adaptable and tend to fall in line. Mainly the ones born there acclimate. If someone left Nigeria at an older age, they can't get used to a foreign environment like that if they're already set in their ways. Does your friends mum work or is she being taken care of? The siblings are younger, they would like it. As I said before those older ones that left can't come back because theyre trapped. |

ImaIma1: Not everybody is trapped abroad. And it's not for anybody to discourage people from going. The people that are complaining over there, are they on their way back.
Forget all the "I don't want to come back empty-handed". Life is better abroad. Things work. You pay for light and it is constant. In Nigeria, you pay for light and still buy fuel for generator. Or is it the bad roads or terrible education sector?
Cold or no cold, the quality of life is better abroad. That's what they I'm saying. It's the older ones. They are trapped there because they keep complaining, yet aren't unable to leave because of other commitments as I said. Old Nigerians abroad do not like it there, trust me. Alot of them have commitments, keeping them there. In Nigeria cold won't affect their health and they can relax because a young girl can be serving their meals, cleaning their house and washing their clothes. In the west, that's illegal and only the super rich have maids. In Nigeria you are seen as the next thing to God because you're old. In the west, a kid can tell you to shut up and you can't touch them. Yes we can all agree the quality of life is better. That's not the point. But for older Nigerians, they prefer Nigeria because of the treatment they get. But yes I do know some old ppl prefer the west. |

Nigerians are 100% asylum seekers in every part of the world. If you know what some Nigerians go through at the border to Libya just to seek asylum and greener pastures ehn... You will understand with time. Lagos is one of the most populated places in Nigeria. Alot of Nigerians congregate there. Well as of yet, nigerians aren't recognized as asylum seekers. |

An average Nigerian will be comfortable with $5000 per month and have very great quality of life, but my point is that, to really go wild abroad, you must be hungry, determined and skilled. Most important, must be hard working. You make It sound like that amount is easily accessible to average Nigerians lol. Even the average westerners doesn't earn that amount. |
