well I don't expect you to understand. But I have seen my parents naked, I have seen my brothers and sisters naked. Once I'm home I take everything off, I live alone now. I only wear clothes in the room when I am cold, when someone is visiting or if I want to quickly dash out to get something. There was this Jehovah's witness people always bothering me, one day while naked i invited the lady and her companions in but to my greatest surprise they took to their heels seeing that I was naked.

The wife is not going about naked to outsiders she only does so when she is about bathing or changing into a new clothe, and sometimes rushing into the store/kitchen to pick one or two things

Yes, after 400 years of an agricultural economy the developed world began to enter the Industrial Age and it was no longer an economic imperative to maintain slavery. In fact it was becoming more costly in some ways. I never typed my thoughts on what drove the end of slavery so why you added that from my source makes no sense, really? Why would I share that part when it’s off topic.

Your article links to a study about the effects of serfdom on the Russian economy to claim slavery was detrimental to the US economy.

The article you chose looks at the role of cotton in the 1860’s when slavery was abolished in 1865. There are 250 years worth of American history involving enslavement and you chose an opinion article that uses the last 5 years as a snapshot (4 of which included a civil war where the South fought to keep slavery)?

The opinion article you chose didn’t manage to contradict much as it states:

“In 1860, on the eve of the Civil War, cotton production represented just 5% of the U.S. economy. Crucially, relatively little — just 13% in 1830 — was used in the domestic textile industry. Virtually all the rest was exported to Great Britain.“

This only confirms what my source said about cotton being the major US export.

Your article argues about the growth of the textile industry and whether slavery was needed for that, something that’s irrelevant and again uses the civil war era and post-civil war to make points ignoring over 2 centuries of economics.

You chose a bad source, a poorly sourced opinion article. and then used my source thinking it debunked anything when it only confirms what I typed, as you shared: “it was economic self-interest” and “It was only after slavery began to be regarded as an impediment to industrial progress...” implying slavery was previously in America’s economic self-interest.
