The point I'm making is this, if I willingly handed over that phone to him and he ran away, I have no chance of catching him as I had two pieces of luggage. Besides, I have my DL, other cards, IDs, etc in the phone case. I would have been entirely stupid to hand him that phone. The morale of this story? The guy who asked me to hand my phone to him (like a pastor asking his congregants to hand their hard earned money to him) is definitely a thief. I (like these congregants) would have been stupid to simply hand over my personal belonging - just like that. Many Nigerian Christians are senseless and daft!

First, this might not be true for all men who cheat; and for those that do fall into the category, I think those men are best suited to answer this question. But if I were to hazard a few guesses I would say......

Are such tales taken seriously in major news outlets(not gossip nor tabloids intended to sell you these very ideas) the world over?

Can the very people telling you trace it back to anything concrete and not short of "i know a guy that blew quickly when he was doing x minor job" or "I've seen it myself, i was in x situation which you can't tell if i was in or not"?

Is there an underlying goal to be had and is it to empower you with such knowledge or merely scare you enough to spread the tale yourself... Also becoming one of the "my guy said he saw x situation happen"?

And last but not least, who are the people that profit from this being believed on the wholesale without evidence and do they actively spread it through all theses points?

Good luck navigating through our fearful and superstitious mindsets.. Oh and one last thing..

Information is patiently and actively collected and filtered to form facts, tales are spread and pulled from any source, spread by both the audience and teller, and can only live by word of "that's what x said it means"...
