9jakohai: Here is my take on the appointments.
1.My own is that 'Are the men qualified for the job they have been appointed for'? Because it seems to me that most people seem to equate being a Southerner with being educated and qualifed, while a Northerner is viewed as 'an inefficient quota appointee'. If the rationale for opposition to the men's appointment is tribe, and not qualificaiton for the job, then that is just plain bigotry.
2.ON the other hand, there is a reason why we have Federal Character laws in this country, and if the appointments violate federal character laws, the men must be removed.
3.And why are we Southerners grumbling? How many people have benefited from appointments made to NNPC when SOutherners held the top jobs? How many Northerners would benefit from the jobs given to these guys. Has the North benefited much from these appointments. As far as I know, the North would still be broke when these guys leave the job at the end of their tenures...the same way most of the NIger Delta is still broke despite having many people from the Delta running the NNPC since inception.
4.Seriously, I am tired of all these people making tribal arguments about jobs. Many of us Southerners live in poverty because of corrupt leaders at all levels, and yet, we expect that a few appointments to NNPC would save us? We claim that we are educated , yet we cannot use our education to actually develop things that would make us super rich. Did Dangote or Innoson work for NNPC before they made it?
5.And the Northerners who are going to defend these appointments? What has having the North in power all these years done for you people? The NOrth is still backward and poor. And see how the result of that poverty....BOko is affecting you! Will a few appointments of Northerners to NNPC top jobs help the North? Or just a few privileged ones?
Honestly I am tired of Nigerians. We have more serious issues than NNPC Job appointments. We have the potential to become a powerful manufacturing nation , producing companies that would make billions more than we are making from fuel. And instead of taking measures to achieve that goal....we are here arguing about job wey no go benefit anyone.
Call me a Zombie, call me anti-North....but it is high time we Nigerians woke up and sorted ourselves out. Otherwise we will continue in our poverty....Northerners and Southerners. you don't have a point, you are confused. what buhari did is it right? |

aminulive: A pan Yoruba socio-cultural group known as Afenifere has weighed in on the recent calls for the re-arrest of the Leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra(IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
In a recent interview with Punch, the national publicity secretary of the group, Yinka Odumakin implied that only people from the Northern region of the country seek the re-arrest of Kanu.
He said;
To start with, experience has shown that arrest cannot resolve the question of self-determination. Two years ago, who knew Nnamdi Kanu? Maybe he was just on the Internet or Radio Biafra. But when he was arrested and detained for over a year he became popular.
You realise today that when he is addressing crowds in the South-East, thousands gather and follow (him). They (government) made him popular. If they rearrest him, they are going to further popularise him and bring into focus the issues he is fighting for. Why don’t they deal with the issues, solve the nationality question and render his achievements ineffective? His arrest will not resolve the matter. Even if they sentence Kanu to death today, another person will rise — once they refuse to resolve the matter.
On the other hand, when you talk about the rule of law, that lady that symbolises justice is blindfolded. The essence of that is, she is no respecter of persons — she delivers justice to whoever offends the law. But then, you begin to go after Kanu and some people get up in Arewa land to say leave our land. The Kaduna governor says, ‘Go and arrest them.’
The vice president says, ‘Arrest them.’ The minister of interior then says, ‘No, they said they were misquoted.’ The thing the minister said they were misquoted on, they sat with governors from the North to say they were suspending the order (notice to quit given to Igbo in the North), and they were holding a press conference in Sheraton.
In fact, one of the (Arewa) youths, when they were looking for them, said, ‘If I’m declared wanted, I will give myself up.’ Even (for security agents) to invite them for a 30-minute chat and let them go, they didn’t do that. When you refuse to do that, you create problems for the rule of law; you show that there’s a double standard. That is not how to build an inclusive country.
Not that we endorse everything that Kanu is doing, but we are saying in order not to overheat the polity, what we need now is (for the Federal Government) to address the issues that have given rise to agitations. If we begin the process of restructuring this country, the separatist groups will be at bay. But if we don’t address these issues, you’re giving them, added energy.
When asked about Kanu's violation of his bail conditions, Odumakin said;
When you are granted bail, that is not the end of the matter. The bail means you can go home while the case continues. They have a case in court; let them go to the court. It goes beyond the whole question of courts. Kanu has not been put before the court for killing anybody, burning property or doing anything wrong. All they are taking him to court for is for statements they said he made.
Arewa youths made statements that threatened the unity of the country; they (government) said they should be arrested. The police did not arrest them. The minister of interior came out and started making excuses that the youths said they were misquoted.
Why didn’t he say Kanu said he was misquoted? Now, those who are in favour of (Kanu’s) re-arrest are from the same section of the country where the Arewa youths come from. People can begin to draw insinuations that they are quick to ask for Kanu’s re-arrest because he is not from their section of the country, while they are shielding those who are from their section of the country. That’s why I’m talking about inclusiveness. So, it goes beyond taking Kanu to court. It’s on the basis of the same question of what Kanu said that they arrested him in the first place. Arewa youths made pronouncements that threatened the unity of Nigeria.
To date, the police could not invite them for a chat; (not) even to take them to a five-star hotel and interrogate them over drinks, pepper soup and groundnuts. To let them be roaming free and even for the minister of interior to be making very lame and unintelligent excuses for them — what kind of country are you building? The boys never said they were misquoted.
When they suspended their notice to quit, they repeated everything they said. That minister should have resigned by now. We are not holding the fort for Kanu at all. We are saying if you want to apply the law, you must apply it evenly; not a law for a section and another law for another section. That cannot work. In fact, that will create more problems and give more sympathy to Kanu.
http://politicsngr.com/2017/09/03/northerners-want-nnamdi-kanu-re-arrested-afenifere/ God bless you Odumakin for calling a spade a spade. To be honest, anyday anytime this man declare to contest for any position in Nigeria,I will from here send support to him in Nigeria. Man God bless you. |

198800Mam: *Difference between old time church service and modern time church service.*
1. When the choristers of the old time finish singing, the congregation burst into tears because they sang down the glory, but in the modern, after the Delilahs and Jezebels finish singing, the congregation respond with a clap offering returning Ichabod to Ichabod.
2. In the old, during message, the congregation cry and tell God that they are sorry, but today, as message is going on people drop money, blow whistle and shout "ride on pastor".
3. The old went to Church and the message gave them faith but the modern went to church and the message gave them fake (olive oil, handkerchief, apron, sticker, holy water and calendars of their G. O.)
4.The ancient carried their bible in booklet because they were not ashamed of Jesus but some today carry ipad to church because they feel shy to be identified with Jesus and to such, Jesus will be ashamed of you on the last day.
5. The old go to church with their hair covered with their head ties but the modern cover their hair with Brazillian weavon.
6. During prayers, the ancient close their eyes and give God their whole attention but the modern open their eyes, looking around like armedrobbers and even answers calls during prayers.
7. The old dance godly dance to thanksgiving and offering but the modern is not even afraid to dance doro, awilo and azonto even before the altar.
8. The ancients go to church with their body covered and are focused on inner beauty but the modern wears mini skirt, show everything, and everything on her is artificial and ends up looking like "mermaid". They are prone to falling at the slightest prayer because all she is putting on has a demon attached to it.
9. In the old, sinners go home weeping but today sinners go home rejoicing.
10. The ancients answer altar calls with tears rolling down their faces. The modern do the same chewing gum.
O Lord, revive your work. May revival precede the rapture. God bless you do have a blissful day.

SpecialAdviser: A restructured Nigeria where everybody feel belonging and nobody feel cheated is what people have been asking for but your northern brothers does not want to listen.
Unfortunately we now have somebody who gives us a more attractive option in d person of Nnamdi KANU.
If the young man has not succeeded in anything, he has succeeded in causing all the enemies of his people to be bashing.
Nnamdi KANU to me is just the best thing to happen to Nigerian political space in recent times. Those who attack him are just displaying mere ignorance. And it beats my imagination to find any southerner or any northern minority attacking Nnamdi KANU. If you don't have a sense of history in the path of FREEDOM, then Google research is you friend. I'm sure that giving the attitude of some of his attackers, if they existed during the fight for independence from Britain, they would still attack Awolowo, Zik and the likes.
What Nnamdi KANU is fighting is a neo colonial subjugation from the same Britain who enjoy all manner of referendum but will not allow it in their colonial territory due to their selfish interest.
Majority of the stealing in Nigeria ends in the hands of the whites. Buhari spent billions of your money in treatment abroad and was even visited by the archbishop of cartenbury. What a shame? Can even any UK legislator come to Nigeria for same treatment?
Over here in this black nation, everything is politics. After years of post colonial era, the blacks still lag behind in development. India has picked up. Pakistan, Hongkong etc. Where is Nigeria. Ordinary Ghana is overtaking us yet we shout one Nigeria.
To hell with those comfortable with this status quo. Your daughters are dying everyday in the ocean on their way to Italy to do prostitution. Your people has turned slaves in their own country. No justice, no fairness. Why would a federal system tie everybody down. If Biafra region, cannot move forward, let Oduduwa move. If Oduduwa cannot move forward let Biafra move. If Arewa chose Book haram, we chose long life. If I cannot get oil share, let me go and farm peacefully without the fear of Fulani herdsmen.
Countries without oil are already happier than us but we shout one Nigeria. I prefer peace to billion s. I want peace for my kids. Bleep the death trap called Nigeria. Don't tell me the consequences of break up or restructuring, I just want a change of system since the present situation is bleeped. |

Of course some people will say that's how Ipob boasted before his first arrest, yes it's true because, since he was released, Nig has been panicking over what tomorrow would be because of the agitation, leaving the most important problems facing this country and decided to face unstoppable Ipob. Even Bubu is afraid/skeptical about his re-arrest that's why he's exhibiting his cowardice hiding under court approval before arresting KANU, unlike before when he arrested him like a tyrant he is without having a second thought. Or is it because United N Nations have placed their eyes on Nigeria ? Before Kanu's ist arrest, majority of us didn't know him neither we knew about his Ipob organization. So Fed govt should be very careful in their decisions. We should not also forget that Ohanezes have accused Fed govt of being biased
This time around, Nig will tear into pieces if you leave Arewa youths and re-arrest Kanu.
Try to re- arrest him and meet your waterloo.
Let me wait here and hear from people that wl say that Abiola a local champion was arrested and incarcerated and nothing happened. I only have pity for these people singing this song of "Abiola this Abiola that" because they lack knowledge of how things work in 21st century.

sarrki: NEWSBiafra: Igbo Assembly tells Buhari what to do to Nnamdi KanuPublished on September 1, 2017 By Ameh Comrade Godwin
Igbo Delegates Assembly (IDA), an umbrella body of Igbos in the 19 northern states and Abuja, has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to dialogue with the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, and leaders of other agitating groups.
The assembly, rising from a three-day meeting in Abuja, urged the government to shelve the idea of revoking Kanu’s bail.
A communiqué signed at the end of the meeting by Chi Nwogu and Austine Ifedinezi, president general and secretary of the assembly, respectively, urged the federal government to take urgent steps to put Nigeria “on a path of peaceful co-existence, through equitable distribution of patronage and infrastructural development.”
IDA argued that the recent outburst in favour of the establishment of the state of Biafra was simply a response to the socio-economic imbalances in Nigeria which, they added, would give way once the imbalances are genuinely addressed.
The group added that “together as a people and persuade the federal government to put in place a framework for equitable existence in the Nigerian project.
“This should be done through the convocation of a sovereign conference, of the component ethnic nationalities, or an adoption of the reports of the 2014 National Conference.”
On the withdrawal of the October 1, 2017 quit notice on Igbo in the North by Arewa youths, the assembly saluted prominent northerners who worked for peace as well as the courage of the Coalition in backing down.
“It is on this note that we appeal to security agencies to be on guard throughout the period to prevent any breakdown of law and order in any part of Nigeria, especially in the north,” it said.
