They mask their cluelessness with brevity of speech. Such 'strategic boredom' saves them from exposing how empty their brains are.

Interestingly, I have NEVER experienced this with non-Nigerian females, as the ones I know (other African countries and Oyinbos) are excellent conversationalists.
