Abeg, park and go, we want don't want exploitation, after all, you are only paying graduate 35k per month, I pity those ladies working for Empty N under contract, third party for that matter

We have Glo, Etisalat, Airtel, and more are coming in, you can sell your facilities to us, Adenuga will buy it, or Dangote! Dstv kicked our HITV out, we need to encourage our local company to grow, this is an opportunity for Glo to excel

You are enjoying our market and threating with exploitation job, 170million people is a big market for you for MTN and DSTV, pack and go back to SA!

You are not useful, profits need to remain here, shame on Nigerian government who failed to support local companies!

MTN Nigeria on Monday warned that should there be attacks on its facilities, it might be forced to close shop and 99 per cent of its over 6,000 workforce in the country, who are Nigerians, would be thrown into the labour market.

It also said that calls for the boycott of its services were unjustified as such an action would affect its support chain, which could cause another 500,000 Nigerians to lose their means of livelihood.

The company stated this in Lagos some hours after two groups protested in its Abuja and Benin offices against the killing of foreigners in its home country, South Africa.

According to the Corporate Service Executive, MTN Nigeria, Mr. Wale Goodluck, there are only 12 expatriates working for the company in the country, compared to a workforce of 6,000 Nigerians.

Goodluck said, “So, if people go ahead with their threats to attack our facilities, what that means is that we may be forced to close down the business in Nigeria and about 6,000 Nigerians that make up 99 per cent of our workforce will be unemployed.

“Then, when you look at our support chain, we have about 500,000 Nigerians gainfully employed. So, boycotting our services simply means destroying so many other Nigerian businesses and making over 500,000 other Nigerians to lose their jobs.

“This business supports a lot of businesses across the length and breadth of Nigeria. Many of the businesses that are affiliated to South Africa are in the retail space, supporting the growth of Nigeria and employing so many Nigerians.”

He noted that the company had spent in excess of $15bn on capital expenditure growing the telecommunications business in Nigeria.

“We see no revenge of Xenophobia and we commend the role the Nigerian High Commissioner in South Africa has played; at least there has been no fatality on the part of any Nigerian,” Goodluck added.

Imagine, MTN have only 6,000 Nigerian employees; with all the money they make from us. Gooooooooo, other network will expand and employ more than 10,000 new workers.

There are a few Nigerian investors and venture capitalists who would buy up the stakes and take over immediately,
I'm sure the country can make a move to force a sale from MTN for its assets in Nigeria without much fall out, all those supply chain I'm sure service other companies so can survive the demise of MTN.

Make dem carry go, we have GLo

The sweet bitter truth is he is right! And we have ourselves to blame.
I hold no affiliation to mtn!. But can you really tell a private business to go and solve its home country government responsibilities? ?..come on!
Its like Cameroon sending dangote packing because boko haram from nigeria attacked them or telling him to go and solve it first.
We condemn the attack yes, but mtn can do nothing besides what its doing which is publicly condemning it to be candid.
And if you are to make a list of the sponsored projects and jobs that mtn indirectly creates we ll see that though they re getting rich off us, we aint totally losing at all. From mtn proj fame to thousand others ...They ve always been the first to start them.
Our govt can get more from them by strengthening our own telecomms to loosen the monopoly but until then, they are a necessary evil and rightly so!!
Do you know what your problem is? It's slave mentality. Boycotting South African products is the way to go as solidarity with those going through hell because of the xenophobia and to sound a strong warning to South Africans in their barbarism. The government of that nation benefits immensely from the profits that are taxed on the remission to that economy huge amount of money from the telecommunication company. They should be the ones to let their people know they have properties in other countries before attacking African immigrants in their country and killing them for silly reasons. I think you have a slave mental problem you need to sort out with a psychiatrist.

You are a black-sheep, dude. A hypocrite and greedy individual who can betray his family for money and employment.

He who has ears. Irate Nigerians that are calling for the closure of MTN should understand the consequences. MTN is a law abiding company doing in business in Nigeria, the events occurring in their originating country shouldn't be used as an excuse to promote further divisions between the countries. They're a major stakeholder in the Nigerian economy and we should give them the respect they deserve. We should boycott Shell and other IOCs that degrade our environments with their business operations. Besides, its hypocrisy that a country like ours with a rich history of human rights abuses would seek revenge over acts human rights abuses in another country.
you are a big fool, senseless goat. About 800,000 Nigerians are living in SA and the have shops contributed to the development of South Africa

MTN operates in the middle east now and is also heading towards eastern Europe with an immense dominance. You kick it out, you suffer especially from the fact that other providers offer you half baked services. The Africas biggest economy will be adversely affected by this move in terms of the growth which will be seen crumbling down especially that now oil is not doing good in the international market. It will not even take five years to recover from such a fall, it could take up to twelve years. The time during which your biggest oil customers will be producing their own oil especially in Southern Africa.
