At least AXA pays rate quoted on their website. I doubt if these other guys do the same. It's always abracadabra, quote a rate, pay lesser.

For anyone converting foreign currency to naira to invest in Treasury bills, how are you mitigating the risk of possible devaluation of the naira by the time your treasury bill investment matures?

Is there away to invest in Nigerian treasury bills in another currency (USD, GBP, EUR) other than naira?
It's called Eurobonds

If I have unsolicited funds in my account am expected to report to the bank. If my instructions were not clear then they would have revert to sender account. What happens when you have my money and I come and ask yet you boldly send me to a wild goose chase in another territory making me accuse FBN of defrauding me when actually you have my funds. What would have happened if it were 10k that I can comfortably forgo. How long did they expect the money to hang with them before returning it. Inshort, why did they apologized and why didn't they allow the cbn altimatum to pass. Civic responsibility is expected of cooperate organisation most. Like I said, might be a one off situation in a growing enterprise but I work too hard for. My money. I don't gamble.
You asked the right question there. They have unmatched fund in their account for a week and there's a guy on their neck who claimed to have sent a fund with same value and perhaps other details yet you keep mute? I think it's cooperate dishonesty.

Guys, I have monthly investment in Axa mansard MMF, I'll like to know if the rate is Simple interest or compound.

Cowrywise and Piggyvest run compound interest, so I want to know if MMF also pays better in the long term.

Kindly advise.
You're already running axamansard, cowrywise and piggyvest so you know best.

The foriegn player remit their money at 305 back to their country while an individual player will buy at 360 .....that why they take more risk
I doubt the credibility of this information. If that were the case, then Nigeria will be the number one investment destination in the world where our national bank would become their bureau de change

We have corrupt leaders. The reserve is above 40 so they shouldn't have problems paying the ₦30,000 minimum wage but the reverse seems to be the case as they are talking about increasing VAT to be able to pay minimum wage.

I'm certain that the government would make sure that ₦30,000 is actually worth the ₦18,000 they were paying. And, I won't be surprised if they do pay themselves in dollars.
When will payment of new minimum wage take effect?

Having a comfortable "financial worth" is what implies he won't be desperate for unhealthy profits.
I laugh in Chinese. The more money you have, the more greedy you become. By greed I don't mean investment recklessness, just a tendency to want to make more money. You'll always have the next target, and the next, and another next. I'm yet to see anyone with good financial worth crying that he's making too much profit.

When you should say we are in a storm is when there are higher rates. Folks here gotta understand something: lower rates means we are doing well economically. I love my country and that is why I wish rates would even go down to 2%. Praying for a better Nigeria; rates please go down more!!!!!!
False! Lower rates means there are more demand than supply. It has nothing to do with the current state of the economy.
afroxyz:
are you serious? So the economy should be bad because yi6u want to make money? where would the profit be spent? is it not that same poor economy that you want. Oga, go and diversify and dont allow your parochial interests hurt the common good.
Again you're wrong. People make money both ways, in good or bad economy. What doesn't make sense however is when rate of inflation is double digit and you think you're being patriotic by investing at single digit. Preach patriotism to me when inflation rate is single digit. I'm very sure you have no tangible investment, only broke asses talk the way you do.

I can see you don't really care about making much profit, you're only concerned about a sound economy for the country. That tells a lot about your financial worth Mr Good Guy.

Isn’t this thread about treasury bills in Nigeria? How did Ghana come into the discussion?
The answer to your question is in the original post by GonFreecss1, read in-between the line, slooooowly

Those of you who were planning to go and buy Treasury Bills from Ghana, lol! I hope you didn't do it?

Their currency had a sharp drop today and became one of the, if not the cheapest currency in Africa. Stick with the demon you know!
Whatever your interest or obsession with Ghana is, is your problem. That being said, enough of the Ghana nonsense from you. So stop derailing the thread.

Who has data on the Stanbic IBTC money market average yield for the years...

2016, 2017 and 2018?

I find it unfair that they never gave a specific average yield for this years. They stopped doing this in 2015. That's not transparent. I am very sure if I called them, they wouldn't give the info, because the info in their report is very ambiguous. Just a graph that is not even clear.

So any one with this info? Thanks in advance.
They do. Have you requested from them?

Hi guys, please am about to open a mutual fund account, money market to be precise but from the information am getting online the yield is about 12-13%. Some claim that the interest is accrued daily. Does this mean that I will be getting 13%(assuming that is the current rate) on my capital daily or is this rate calculated yearly.

I would like to know how the interest rate is calculated and will appreciate anyone that can explain this to me.

Thanks.
See thief.
So if you invest 1milion Naira you're expecting 120,000 Naira daily?

And you just gave him kudos for conducting " the only election Nigeria and international community agreed to be free and fair "

Meanwhile the last time I checked, Earnest Shonekan was a civilian of the Yoruba extraction.
Sorry, not everyone is a tribal bigot like you. How logical is it for a Yoruba man to be made an interim president (a puppet of sort) to appease the annulment of a credible election won by another Yoruba man just so that an Hausa soldier can easily snatch back power with gun blazing. And you're here making it look like the evil genius has done the Yoruba nation a favour. How lopsided can people's reasoning be?

OK.. But What's the Telex charge for again?
I made a transfer from my GTB dollar domiciliary to another dollar account in same GT bank and charges nearly ran me mad. They charged a ridiculous 0.5% of the amount transferred as "commission" and another 5% of that commission as VAT. So to transfer $20,000 from GTB to GTB they charged $105! How much can you possibly make from your investment when bank has a already taken a chunk of the money to transfer within their own network?
Looking at yield for dollar mutual funds for most assets managers, you should expect 6% per annum, meaning that at least your one month of your investment is gone in transaction charges, another one month of your investment will be lost to when you redeem your investment. You have to leave the fund for 3 months to make any profit at all.

Please, how is mutual fund interest calculated. I assume it is compounded daily. Since money is involved, assumption is not good enough.
