I will try this out. What's their current mmf rate? Bluearrow: When I come to this thread seeing people lamenting about fund managers for mmf, I wonder if they signed an oath! Why go through all these stress of sending emails up & down when u can do this with myinvestar fund manager effortlessly? I'm not here to promote myinvestar mmf, but I don't get why go through so much stress when there is a very stress free one.
Anyone using myinvestar here will confirm what I'm saying. You top up 11:55pm on a Sunday, your funds will reflect immediately & it will earn profit the following day. Withdrawal & deposit is instant. No holding period. Everything is easy & smooth. I don't understand why people like stress, sending emails & begging for fund managers to release your funds. Apart from first ally myinvestar, I don't think I can use any other fund manager for mmf anymore. I have never had any single reason to contact their customer support ever since I joined them. |

bfn1: 1. Currently offering one of the highest rates @ over 20%.
2. Signing up is easy via their web portal.
3. Email communication is one aspect that they seriously need to improve on.
4. You can top up your investment via the usual bank transfers & virtual account numbers (from their web portal).
5. I'm not aware they have a mobile app yet but the web is active. I wanted to give them a try, but their supposedly highest rate is not publicly available. Transparency is key to me. It's difficult to track your fund when you don't even see the yield |

Preator: On the fees each mmf determines their fees. It’s a choice to use them. Given the slightly higher rates they offer, I can easily offset the charges. Its also likely to discourage micro transactions. Really? You are stating the obvious and going on the defense like someone who has a vested interest. Customer has a right to complain about poor and exploitative services when they see one, they also owe it as a service to warn others not to fall into the same trap. If I say what’s bad about a service, you can counter it with things that are good if there are any. There’s no need to go on the defensive if you truly are neutral. About the unusual fees, it sure looks more like an exploitation than deterring micro transactions. Each of those ₦250 charges is a 1% off your yield on a ₦25,000 deposit, erasing any yield advantage they purportedly have. Preator: On withdrawing to zero, I haven’t tried that so I cant comment but I havent seen any mmf that doesn’t allow full redemption for your realized gains. In fact the only time I tried their redemption, I saw an option to withdraw every unit I had. You “haven’t tried that, you can’t comment”, but then you’re commenting. |

In anything you do, avoid cowrywise. I like fintech, they're supposed to be the new way of doing things. But no, this one is not. Unfortunately, Nairaland has strict rules about language I won't be able rant as I would like. But here's a summary of the way they do business: You get charged ₦50 to "link" them to your bank account (your registration isn't complete until you do so). There's no evidence of this "linking" with your bank, and there's no advantage of doing this. Then there's a ₦250 processing fee to move fund to your wallet or invest in any of their portfolio. This ₦250 is irrespective of whether the fund is coming from your bank account (including the linked account) or from your wallet. There's a ₦50 fee to withdraw to your bank account. But you cant withdraw to ₦0 balance . . . You get the gist? More importantly, take their MMF yield with a grain of salt. I invested in ARM MMF with them and ended up getting around 18% yield, against the 20.8% rate they quoted on their platform. |

I'm just curious about withdrawal limits on MMF with different managers. My Stanbic account has a limit of 5m. Is this the situation with all stanbic accounts or am I on a lower tier? Also, what's the withdrawal limit with other managers on their highest tier?

seyisanya: What has Dangote got to do with this? Yes, wise people save to invest! Dangote is a business mogul, he sources for funds for business expansion through the capital market, bonds, commercial paper etc.
The emboldened in this clime? Nope! What happens if the business fails at inception? Nothing is guaranteed in the business/investment world. Rather, start the business/venture with your funds(or borrow from family members) and when it becomes profitable you can then approach a financial institution for a loan. What you stated is the reason most young start-ups get burnt in the business world.
In summary, start small with your own funds. When the business becomes promising, get a loan to expand! Exactly my thoughts. I should have read a little further before posting. |

athorello: Like Dangote do save to invest, right? See, if you see a venture, business or investment opportunity that can guarantee you a good ROI well above the loan rates, better go for it. A loan gives you the opportunity to invest zero naira in the actual sense and still make profit. Think about it. Yes, Dangote saved to invest. And now he can work in to any bank and get a loan at a much more godly rate that you eould. Or do you think Dangote gets his loan at same interest rate as you? You can't predict ROI for any venture with every degree of certainty, so there's no such venture that can guarantee high ROI. |

ChybuzzDD: I think this belief about loans is only predominant in Nigeria. All over the world, people go for loans when they need them. The most important thing is what the money is to be used for. There's nothing wrong with taking loans, as long as it's properly invested or solves a problem. How many of these "all over the world" countries have interest rates averaging 20% and as high as 33%? Nigerian loans add more problem to your problem, avoid it if you can. |

I read it a while ago that your spouse can land afterwards, but not so sure now. Thanks in advance The only condition is that spouse must either accompany PA or arrive later, not before. Second condition is that they all must do so within their visa validity. |

onyexx: I have heard and read a couple of comments (not here) discouraging living in basements. Can someone please expatiate on the cons? Is it really that bad? Depressing? Not well heated? Some basements are purpose built for living, with sunlight in most of the living spaces and independent heat control. You'll find this mostly in new houses. There's nothing bad in this type of basement if you find one. However, most basements are poorly lit and heating is centrally controlled. Those are the bad ones you should avoid. |

You see, this is exactly why Nigerians Biafrans will continue to die in xenophobic attacks in South Africa. You're here alienating other tribes even though they're supporting your cause.
