No doubt this is the best Harry Potter movie of the whole lot so far.
The relevance to the plot and story is what makes it different from the others.

Nice acting. Obviously, they've all grown through the series. They know each other well now and act better around themselves.

I have read the book and seen the movie. I can confidently say that it is the closest to the book. Followed by Prisoner of Azkaban.

But a little snag though. I was expecting more action at the end. The way Dumbledore died was kinda too 'simple'. More shoulda happened.
Snape pronounced the killing curse and Dumbledore jus fell in slow motion. I was expecting more fire stuff. .
But anyways, nice stuff sha.

I'll rate the movie a whooping 90%.

And nice thread this is,by the way. The movie club is nice.
I'll be here more often now.

Waiting for other reviews.

Nice spoiler, man.

Been following the series. Even bought the PS games. The books are better. The movies are so very English. If this had been an American production,
Will check this instalment out. Anything has to be better than Legend of the Seeker.

Ahn ahn. Lol. That 'spoiler' did not actually ruin the movie. It was just me looking for fireworks. and I was thinkin Dumbledore's death would be the best scene to gimme that.

Maybe the director jus wanted Dumbledore's death very quiet and sobre so he went for that. Cos he showed off alot in terms of fireworks.
The scene where the Death Eaters blew up the burrow was nice. And the scene where Draco and Harry fought.

Just watch the movie. Its really nice.

2 parts? That would be something. .
Thinkin bout it. Twould actually be necessary cos the last book has alot of stuff in it. With all the horcruxes stuff.
Re: The Movie Club by MadMax1(f): 5:12pm On Jul 29, 2009
The books are wayyyyy better. And if it had been an American production, the movies would have been fantastic. American filmmakers grasp all the subleties, the tones and nuances of reality, and they can render anything, however complex, on film. They're still the best filmmakers in the world. I guess they didn't dare place books that's become British symbols in the hands of Americans. I saw the trailer of this movie though, and I liked it. Definitely worth checking out.

Re: The Movie Club by MadMax1(f): 4:17pm On Jul 30, 2009
Maybe David Fincher too. He likes dark material. I saw the trailer and went, look how they've all grown! Still remember the 1st Potter movie. They were all babies.

@ disturbed
u said the way dumbledore died was too simple and u said u're read the book. it was simple the way he died in the book. snape came, the death eaters gave way and he pushed malfoy aside, gave dumbledore a look of contempt, raised his wand and "Avada Kedavra", a green light shot out of his wand and hit dumbledore making him fly and fall down from the top of the Astronomy tower. that was as simple as can be. finished the book for the second time today as i'm going to silvabird to watch the movie on saturday. i can't wait to see what the did about the inferi. the memory from morfin and all that

Oh no. I haven't seen a movie in ages. I'm not up to date. Last thing I saw was Craig's Casino Royale days ago. The only movies I'm going to see in the coming weeks are Harry Potter, Inglorious Basterds and Avatar.

Re: The Movie Club by MadMax1(f): 8:59pm On Jul 31, 2009
Yeh. Someone who's seen it said it was just a filler until the final part is ready; that it was too long and it didn't have much substance; that it was about the teenage growing pains of the trio, etc. Gorgeous visuals though, I'm told.

What about Craig? I love him as Bond. I hope he's Bond till he's 100.

YOu will never really enjoy the Harry Potter movies like the book, I have the last three books and I want to tell you too much has been left out. I'm never in a hurry to watch adaptations because I'm always disappointed. Only watched 1 and 2, the rest, I reread the book when I heard the film is out. WHere's that my Half-blood prince again?

"Harry potter!" "The boy who stopped the Dark Lord." I have always loved the movie. Although, I totally agree with Phony200. Some of the parts in the novel may never be played in the movie. But @least, it will be more interesting than previous ones. Even more interesting than Indiana Jones! Even though, some may consider it a teenage movie. grin
Re: The Movie Club by MadMax1(f): 1:40pm On Aug 02, 2009
Harry Potter? Better than Indiana Jones? Indie?
Re: The Movie Club by HarryPotter1(m): 2:55pm On Aug 02, 2009

Harry Potter and the half blood prince hmmmmm! I read the novel but i hvent watch the movie i think dis is the most faciniting and horrible series so far,as i hve read 4rm de book.the horcrux, inferra, warewolf parts all sound as though dis is end of hogwarth and even the death of Donblumdore in the hands of mare Snape! dats wat confusing 4 a man like Albus 2 die like dat huh.but as 4 snape i think harry will pay him back with his own coin bad man.
Re: The Movie Club by Donvilo(m): 8:19pm On Aug 02, 2009
@Mad_Max. errrrhh, I mean by saying that it's more interesting than indie on the fantasy side. grin
