nerodenero:I don't think that the Presidency lied. It stated that the meeting is not an official UN event for which the president and his entourage went for. Because it was convened by an inconspicuous UN office inside the UN building doesn't make it a UN event. Nigerian president shouldn't be made to sit out meetings convened by diplomats who want to use his presence to advance their careers. Mrs. Ogwu is an experienced diplomat and I doubt if the presidency is not aware of the meeting. 3 Likes |

mexzzy47: So please how did you know it was "official"?. You saw the invitation letter? How did you know that the PMB govt deliberately refused to attend. What if there was an omission or commission in inviting the Nigerian govt to the meeting. |

You can't cry more than the bereaved, the president will even do everything in his power to see the problems of NE are fully resolved, so whether he attend or not, his number one priority is still the NE. Just that Nigerians are hard to please, if he had attended, another story will surface. Meanwhile, Presidency don't just attend meetings, they're pre planned and if such escapes the president notice, Ogwu whose job would have being to draw the attention of the COS to it failed in her job, maybe she's benefiting from the crisis, who knows? No one said he's perfect, moreover, he wasn't idle elsewhere when the meeting was on. The president should come give the dividends of democracy to all, that's all Nigerians care about. He could even win more people's hearts if he could increase the minimum wage from the peanut it's now to suit civil servants. 1 Like |

ibedun:That's ridiculous. If the blame for this mishap is that of Joy Ogwu, then why did Garba Shehu make up that outrageous and ludicrous excuse yesterday. The mistake wasn't the worst thing about this whole brouhaha, it was the rushed, mediocre excuse by the media team of the President. Besides, in all Joy ogwu's years at the UN, she has never made such a kiddy mistake. This mistake is synonymous with the lacklustre, lazy, unintelligent and poor handling of issues by this government. PT is just trying to drop the mishap at Ogwu's door 4 Likes |

hamingra:Margaret Bassher of the UN was interviewed by Garba Umar of ChannelsTV newstrack today. She confirmed that the meeting was official and that the President was scheduled to be at the meeting. She was bemused at the fact that the President CANCELLED his appearance at the meeting shortly before it commenced. 1 Like 1 Share |
