[b]little did they know that in the next 35 years the DRC WILL OVERTAKE nigeria and become the biggest economy in Africa. Congos untapped mineral wealth is worth over $24 trillion. In 2040s Nigerias oil reserves will DRY OUT. How will they survive?

Nigeria's growth and development will always be mouth based, reason being they always underestimate competition by talking down on people. Their biggest flaw " BIG MOUTH" GIANT OF MOUTH GIANT! Of grin

We must admit South Africa is more developed than Nigeria. Nigeria can only boast of more Africans that are educated, wealthy and more exposed than 'black' South Africans.
The gap is wide, really wide brethren and shouldn't be so. Due to corruption which has over the last 50years resulted in capital flight in excess of $500billion, Nigeria has remain a shadow of itself and part of this money is what oil SouthAfrican's economy and that of many European countries.
In an AIT New York televised economic meeting on investments im Nigeria at the return to democracy in 1999, it was asserted that Nigerians had over $200billion in dormant accounts in USA!!!
If Nigeria can tackle corruption, we can begin to dream.
The rebasing of the GDP done during GEJ regime wasn't a fluke although that regime added no tangible growth to the economy. The GDP branded by Nigeria did not take cognizance of growth in some sector such as the telecoms sector brought by Obasanjo's regime and the growth of Nollywood. It was not an achievement of Jonathan in the first place.
For Nigeria to compete infrastructural wise with South Africa, we will have to overcome the problem of 70%"recurrent expenditure if you understand what that means while we diversify seriously.

You are a complete moro.n and economic illiterate. For your information, you dunce, the Nigerian economy is Africa's largest BY FAR, and it has ABSOLUTELY ZILCH to do with the standard of infrastructure in South Africa. If we are to measure the size of economies by infrastructure, then UAE or Kuwait would easily be the world's largest economies. But India and Pakistan are larger economies than UAE or Kuwait by any measurement, even though you will see levels of deprivation in the former that can never be seen in the latter. USE YOUR dull BRAIN FOR ONCE IN YOUR LIFE. NITWIT who found himself in South Africa and can't control himself. ''Largest economy'' does not mean ''most advanced'' or ''most developed'', or ''best infrastructure''. It means LARGEST ECONOMY, QED. IGNORANT DULLARDS DROWNING IN INFERIORITY COMPLEX.
Mr ITK how does this your analysis help improving the standard of living of Nigerian masses.

Big shift in racial distribution of South Africa’s super-rich

Almost half of South Africa’s dollar millionaires – those with a net value of R14.5 million or more – are from previously disadvantaged groups, according to the latest report by New World Wealth.

The report has found that more than 45% of SA’s dollar millionaires are black, coloured, Indian or Chinese – that is from groups unable to vote prior to 1994.

In the view of New World Wealth, the SA government will continue to push black economic empowerment (BEE) policies until previously disadvantaged groups make up at least 80% of SA’s dollar millionaires. This goal is expected to be reached by 2030.

New World Wealth’s research found that there are currently about 17 300 South African dollar millionaires from previously disadvantaged groups. This is much higher than the 14% it was in 2007. SA has almost twice as many dollar millionaires than any other African country.

Three South Africans even feature prominently on the UK’s 2016 “Rich List”, BizNews.com reported on Monday. Nicky Oppenheimer (70), made it to 18th position on the 1 000-strong list. London-based South African Natie Kirsh (84) is three positions behind Oppenheimer on the list and Christo Wiese (74) is in 22nd spot. It is the first time Wiese has been included on the list, because of numerous UK investments.

“Racial wealth breakdowns are an important issue in South Africa. Many feel that the speed of wealth transfer to ‘previously disadvantaged’ groups has been too slow,” the report states.

According to the latest Commission for Employment Equity (CEE) Report released on Monday, top management positions in the private sector in SA are mostly allotted to white males and opportunities for promotion and training also remain inherently linked to race and gender at more senior levels.

10 000 African millionaires moving to SA next decade
Apr 28 2016 07:53 Carin Smith

10 000 millionaires from the rest of Africa are expected to move to South Africa over the next decade, according to a report by New World Wealth, which provides information on the global wealth sector, especially high growth markets.

According to the report, these millionaires - having a net worth of about R14.5m or more - from the rest of Africa would then significantly boost millionaire numbers and luxury spending in SA.

By June last year, it was estimated that there were about 163 000 dollar millionaires living in Africa with a combined wealth of $670bn.

Research by New World Wealth found that over 1 500 millionaires from the rest of Africa have moved to SA since 2007. Most of them came from Angola, Kenya, DRC, Gabon, Nigeria, and Ghana. Many millionaires from the rest of Africa have also bought second residences in SA, which they use for business and holiday purposes.

These millionaires are attracted to SA by good private schools for their children, luxury residential estates, good private healthcare, exclusive shopping centres and good transport infrastructure. They also like that SA is an English-speaking country and that there is very little religious violence.

I laugh at your comment. hOPE YOU WILL CURE MY IGNORANCE. I make bold to tell you that Nigeria has more educated and wealthy 'Africans ' than South Africa. How did BizNews measure its own? For instance, what is the worth of Ekenedilichukwu?

The report has found that more than 45% of SA’s dollar millionaires are black, coloured, Indian or Chinese – that is from groups unable to vote prior to 1994.
