fiizznation: I don't think it is right to condemn or insult Islam over an action of one person.. however I have few observations to make; 1. You should first be angry at people who use Islam to defend their heinous crime!. If a priest rape a boy and his line of defence is that it is permissible in his religion, you have the right to condemn such aspect of his religion. 2. You just did what you accused other of doing by generalizing the whole Sourthern women as being loose. 3. A girl of 13/14 years old cannot give consent to marriage or elopement... whether they eloped or she was abducted, she should be returned to her parents as she is still a minor and cannot make such a decision. Even in Islam, you need to seek the consent of the girls parents before marrying her. 4. Nobody has given us the real age of this Yunsa or even his clear picture. 5. Boko haram abducted more than 200 girls without anybody noticing or disturbing them during the operation. It is possible the eloped but also within possibility that she may have been hypnotized! 6 Likes |

fiizznation: You missed the point, the girl in question is a minor, she's just 14 years old living with her parents in Bayelsa, she's not a refuge found on the streets of Kano. For Yunusa to have taken her to Kano without the consent of her parents is a crime punishable in law.He should not be hidden under the guise of religion, he is a criminal and the law must take its due course. Perhaps you have evidence that the parents actually gave her out to Yunusa. 1 Like |

OBAGADAFFI: This is not about me in any way and I don't have a daughter, but if I had one I would teach her not to run away with strange boys. Her parents need to take responsibility for her bad behavior. She is not 10 years old, at the very least she is 14, maybe older. She may be too young to give consent but it appears the guy might have been a minor too when they ran away meaning no criminal charges. It's all about the law. 1 Like |

Having read through 3 pages of comments, I must confess that we have misplaced priority in this country. The girl in question is a minor. The accused/suspect is supposed to be in police custody by now answering for his crime. How does a Keke Marwa driver in Bayelsa have so much influence in His state? ......... lots of questions..... 1 Like |

fiizznation:You made your points but shot yourself in the foot with your conclusion. Yes, the south south, south easf & south west are more sophisticated than the north. Their kids are easily corrupted with western world. But there's sanity in these regions. A man that is poor doesn't marry more than one wife and over populate his community with Almajiri kids. They don't take under aage girls as wives. Wives that ll be a liability. Just a baby factory. Their youths are tolerant in religious issues. They don't burn down houses of people who doesn't do their religion. They have fear for human lives and properties. The list goes on. Dont type here as if this issue of Yunusa & Ese us directed @ staining Islam. It is the culture of the north that it speaks against. Kidnapping young girls and marrying them off or taking teens as wives. Thats why theres huge poverty in the north. When the family with poor husband & wife. Do you know how many northerners are down in the south as beggars? If only you guys realise that you are finished the day Nigeria splits... Nigerians always running from the truth this has nothing to do with religion or politics Ese is just a product of the environment she grew up in after i saw the video i think this is a norm in Bayelsa cos i have seen something similar young girls in Bayelsa seem to be desperate for marriage i personally know of a young girl from this same Bayelsa that willingly got pregnant for a man from the same bayelsa (he his married with 3 kids)but she eloped with him to another state and knowing full well the man's marital status she still got pregnant for him so i think this boils down to something it is either the parents are not taking up their responsibilities the way they should that is only what can lure a young female girl out and make her vulnerable .Now if Yinusa was from Bayelsa i am sure this whole news wont be on the media and for we southerners that think the average northerner you see doing the odds jobs in our environment are dumb or stupid they are smarter than you think Yinusa is a perfect example he took her to a place he knew it was legal to marry her and from the way she is speaking Hausa that girl has been bullied and brained washed , we all know the way the Islamic tutors beat their students to learn Arabic and all that so i am not surprised she is speaking Hausa and wearing Hi-jab in 8 months. My final word parents please be watchful over your kids and perform your responsibility as a parent to your ward till they are of the right age this issue is becoming something else in Nigeria now most parents dont want to take care of responsibilities anymore that is why we alot of young girls going into prostitution the boys going into internet crimes and robbery .Lastly dont think that suya man or mairuwa or aboki gate man is silly they know what they are doing never and dont trust them even people around you that your kids associate with dont but at the same time dont be too quick to judge them |

It's really funny how Nigerians pretend online as if we all aren't Africans. Who doesn't know about black magic Touch and follow Many ladies or girls are dating men or married to men they would never accept on a clear eye. But such men used black power, magic rings, perfumes, handkerchief, facial powder, etc to make these girls and women agree out of their normal will Many men use jazz (spell) to lure women into relationship and marriage This is more rampant among Hausa and Yoruba men. Go to secondary schools, young boys use touch and follow rings to hypnotize girls for sex. There was a time we employed a Hausa guard to guard our house in the village...this Hausa guy came with his jazz....hypnotized many village girls and even sold touch n follow rings to boys in our village which the village boys also used to defy girls in the village. A young boy in my village narrated the story, and many of the village boys later confessed The Hausa guy brought so many type of juju to our village...sold many to my village boys including neck scarves than turn to snake when angered. Sometimes he would pour fuel on his hand and light matches...it will be burning and nothing will happen to his skin...according to boys in my village. Finally, we sacked him and he returned back to the north. This Ese girl must be under spell...take it or leave it. Hausa boys use it a lot on girls. they believe so much in juju, jazz. The only pride of an average Hausa man is his juju or jazz, too bad! In Nigeria, Igbo boys believe in using money to get girls. Calabar/Akwa Ibom boys believe in using good food and sex to hypnotize women Yoruba men believe in using money, swag and some jazz to get girls. Hausa/Fulani men believe in using jazz, juju to get girls! Bini, Bayelsa boys believe in using money to get girls Warri boys believe in using joke to get girls! So many men use love spell and magic ring, perfume to hypnotize women to date and marry them, women be watchful....dont argue it, it's real! Devil have power, God didn't collect power from devil, be very prayerful!! 2 Likes |

freecocoa: It doesn't have to be this stupid to qualify as brainwashing, it could have been a noble deed, but brainwashing all the same. I don't know which one I find harder to understand: is it because this case involves a Muslim boy from the north and a christian girl from the south or we are all morally upright and all that? In my locality I have seen many young girls living with guys, what I don't know is if the parents consent was sought. |

Truckpusher: What crime has the Emir committed? If he kidnapped her and forced her to covert...yes, he must be punished severely. Life imprisonment will do him good. If he didn't....then he has committed statutory rape however I don't think he should be punished for it. 1) It is not unusual in Nigeria and what happened was consensual. 2) What about Yerima? |

CecyAdrian:the parents of the girl should be happy that they elope to the boy's home? What type of brain do you have? Answer this questions 1. Can you be content hearing that without ur consent ur underage sister or daughter was kidnapped or even elope with a total stranger who have a totally different believe or faith Or Lets even assume that u r from the boy side What type of family accept their underage boy to bring home an equally an underage girl with a totally different background without asking who the girl is or at least request to meet her parents... Well, I'm not surprise with the kind of mentality u guys up north possess, it all point down to that useless religion of yours. A religion that promote an underage marriage 3 Likes |

Fhowe:You seem to be speaking from the four parts of your mouth my friend . Yunusa isn't smart , he only succeded on questioning the Nigerian laws if it is more importnant than the Islamic laws being practiced widely in the North yet they want everyone to remain in one Nigeria by fire by force . His actions if not probably handled will usher in deliberate attempts by paedophiles across the country to get away with a heinous crime all masked in the name of religion. This is the time to question the integrity of the Nigerian constitution and Yunusa just did it and it is now left to this administration with all her Mr integrity mantra to follow the course of justice and punish whoever was involved no matter how highly placed. If not Nigeria will still remain a joke. Nnamdi Kanu could be right even if I never liked his method. If we go by your argument that she's a product of the society she lived in then it is then justified to accept it in good faith if your younger brother brings home an underage girl ? Or on the other hand : you'd be glad if your underage daughter runs away from home for whatever reason and someone marries her off without questions? What are you actually saying ? 1 Like |
