Godfullsam: I still wonder why igbos see Awolowo as a betrayer whereas, history has it that it was Azikiwe that actually betrayed Awolowo and other southern leaders and went to form coalition with the northern leaders instead of meeting with Awo in delta.
So, in a nutshell Azikiw's greed is the reason why I am sharing the same country with Omo igbos and they keep accusing us of not letting them go to form Biafra.
It is well o Zik was selfless and he wanted the north to feel belonged, unlike Awolowo who was parochial and selfish. Zik did what he did in order to help the north integrated with the south and not feel left out. |

chopnaira: It was selfish interest and greed. He was meant to form a coalition with other southern parties. He thought he could outsmart the Northerners who people believed were backwards and easy to manipulate. He was outsmarted instead and got a ceremonial presidential position while the North got the powerful Prime Minister position. We were running a parliamentary system during that era.
If you read the whole article. I would edit my post and include the link, the Northerners were thought to be primitive. However, the Westerners know that the Northerners were actually very politically smart. They have had relations and businesses with them for centuries. Ilorin fell for that reason about 150 years prior. It was Awolowo who was selfish and wanted power in the south because he saw the north as uneducated. Zik was a kind man who wanted the north to feel belong and not left out. |

What was he even thinking?
Does he think the igbos will benefit more than other regions if Nigeria remain indivisible? Where was your grandfather when a single man was deciding the fate of your life and generations? |

FreeStuffsNG: " ......and the West, richest and most advanced of all three, whose Yoruba tribesmen are Nigeria's most sophisticated citizens."
Thank you for sharing. This is Reno Omokri's latest free education service to those who came to Lagos years later and thought Lagos is for sale. Lagos has never been for sale
63 years after, the Yoruba is still the richest, most advanced and the most sophisticated in Nigeria and Africa.
Like the offshoot of the dorminant Yoruba political movement (Egbe Omo Oduduwa/Action Group) that now has a strong political alliance with its then political adversary Northern region, and today has the coveted prize of Nigeria's Presidency, other tribes have made some progress too ,especially in the East where unclothedness has been significantly abolished and North where more female children now has access to western education.
God bless Nigeria for ever. Check my signature for free stuffs! What do the yorubas produce to have made them the richest tribe? Nothing of great note–just politics, oil from the south south, and fraud through religion, cybercrime, e.tc. You have only benefited unfairly on the back of others. Before independence, it was through the slave trade, which you involved heavily(due to the slave ports in your land). And through religion during colonialism. Post colonialism, aside entertainment that I can give kudos to you, the wealth of the Yoruba are through the criminality of the Nigerian state which you are taking advantage of. |

Hardworking people survive in Igboland, lazy people don't. My young nephew that wanted to turn out as the black sheep in the family after getting influenced by bad friends was finally sent to Aba after he became a little remorseful and sober. He learnt tailoring in Aba for months. Now the boy is very good. He has his own shop, and he is doing well for himself. Today, he is the one advising his former friends to leave their wayward lives and become productive as him. The reason why most people don't want to go to the east to hustle is because they are lazy and have become used to lazy welfarism culture in their states. They are used to waiting for free oil money, agberoism, yahoo, political patronage as SSAs or touts and the likes. |

MadamVanessa:

Men are no longer men anymore. Weak and timid. So emotionally ridden.
Our forebearers will be turning in their graves with much disappointment to see the numbers of weak emotional ridden dingbats calling themselves men walking now in the world. Men must get back their testosterones. And women must be sent back to the kitchen and bedroom. That's the only way things can go back to normal. Globalizma and Capitalism has destroyed men. Big corporations helped destroyed society when they cajoled the world into allowing women to work, thus providing cheap labour. That's what is destroying society. |

Pakute: - Innocent Chukwuma(innoson) - Cosmos Maduka(coscharis) - Clement Madubugwu(ibeto) - Augustine Ilodibe(ekenedilichukwu) - Ifeanyi Uba(capital oil) - Cubana chief priest - Chukwudemeje Onwuamadike a.k.a Evans - Victor Okafor a.k.a Ezego - Emeka Okonkwo a.k.a Emoney. From the above list, the first six names were products of ibo apprentice system, while the last three names were secondary school drop outs. While it is true that everybody wants to be successful in business whether educated or not, however, the society has a duty to raise questions when individuals begin to flaunt questionable wealth. With the exception of Augustine Ilodibe who took an advantage of mass ibo migration from the SE to SW and North, how did the rest of the names on the list became a billionaire?. This leads me to the rationality of the concept of money culture among the ibos. All the names in the list are model of money culture in iboland, most especially among ibo youths, they eulogize them and boast of them. Mad mad |
