The word suggestion is why I keep going back to it. I have been using it with my gmail account for about 3 years so it already knows my typing pattern and gives appropriate suggestions.

What version are you currently on? The last apk I had turned out to be a trial version. I had to ditch mine after more than 3+ years of use & while changing to my current phone. I ain't feeling this gboard when I type.

Does it automatically suggests emojis? Like if you type flower, it brings up a flower in the suggestions row. What is the word suggestion like?

It supports smiley suggestion and has better word suggestion accuracy than many others. The only con is that it doesn't have eye candy to match some of the newer keyboard apps

They both have cool features, but these are my pros and cons for each:

Swiftkey
Pros
--- does a better job at word prediction
--- suggests suitable emojis

Cons-
--- I hate the way it acts when you hold the delete key. It tends to delete whole words when most times you just want to delete a few characters
--- not as smooth as Gboard

Gboard
pros
--- operates more smoothly
--- I prefer the way it's delete key functions

Cons
--- doesn't suggest emojis and it's prediction still needs some improvements

In all, I have used Swiftkey like 60% of the time and Gboard like 40%. The best keyboard I ever used was the one in Lumia phones. Hopefully Microsoft will improve Swiftkey to be just like that.

The best keyboard I have used is Swype, sadly the company now solely sell its services to OEMs and no longer offers free app on the playstore.

so I see no essense of giving it in the first place

Exactly my point. With Apple's networth its expected they spend more on market survey, R & D and marketing. Probably the reason they refused to change too drastically coz they're working with acquired reliable data. The truth is people will talk about the restrictions of iOS but it's ease of use suits the majority that refused to switch.

My brother if you know the billions spent on market survey & R & D by Apple you would know that those restrictions are not as bad as we the free folks think. Since it's still working for them we can't argue against it.
