brainpower: I don't really blame these private schools for some of their rules. Even though know that as adults these rules aren't right, they are left with no choice we abuse most of these things in this country and without forcefully taking some of these privileges away from students their school ratings won't increase. Not that they aren't abused outside the country too, but over there, they have managed to increase their ratings without stopping these things. It can't be just coincidence that the schools that have these rules are rated as the best Private universities e.g. Covenant. While igbinedion that has been there before all of them is still struggling to cope in ratings.
This is not to undermine any school, but to state facts. For those that will site public universities, know that the rate of cultism and various vices are very high there. And I actually graduated from a public university so I know what I'm saying. And who told you cultism, rape, drug abuse & other delinquencies don't exist in some of these private schools? Don't always believe hook, line & sinker what you see in adverts my brother. The owners of these schools are business men & will go to any length to launder the image of these schools to appear saintly to the outside world. A university is a microcosm of the larger society i.e. a miniature version of the world at large. If you're not preparing these students for a totalitarian or communism centered society then why make then go thru such all in the name of teaching them? It'll only result to products not tailored to our open environment. Don't tell me they'll adjust, remember life starts once you're done with tertiary education. My State (Rivers) had a 29 year old Alfred Diete Spiff as it's first military administrator. Do you think if he was trained in such a restrictive environment he'll be suited for that job so young? |

Standing5: Why won't a uni ban phones that can easily distract them. It can aid evil communication, stalking, cultism, exam malpractice and more. So going by your theory, you're implying that banning smartphones & probably computers & the internet etc which all aid communication in the open society will put an end to the vices you mentioned. See how flawed your assumption is? |

mmsen: That's the most recent news story, I didn't need to dig. It's doing the rounds on social media.
You still haven't explained or supported your point.
The facts are:
Top athletes typically find alternate accommodation during the Olympics, it last time in London, in 2012. It happened previously in Beijing, in 2008.The US basketball team has always done so this time and idiots are shouting about 'blackman mentality' without:
a) explaining what a 'blackman mentality' is b) explaining why so many 'white' athletes are also staying away from the Olympic Village c) explaining why they should not stay in a venue where they have the best security and comfort
Australians are complaining about their accommodation - Rio Olympics Athletes' Village Declared "Uninhabitable" http://deadspin.com/rio-olympics-athletes-village-declared-uninhabitable-1784219622. Do they also suffer from the so-called 'blackman mentality'?
And here's more Rio news - Russian diplomat shoots dead armed mugger in Rio: http://metro.co.uk/2016/08/05/russian-diplomat-shoots-dead-armed-mugger-in-rio-6048889/#mv-b Why should I address your questions when you dodged mine b4 asking yours? Every city got it's good & bad sides. Aside the negative news & reports, ask yourself when last the top media outfits cnn, BBC etc etc reported something that's commendable in South America or Africa? Do you know there were terror & crime related attacks during some previous sports events hosted by your beloved US of A? Google it then maybe you'll have a rethink. This matter has been over flogged, enough said. I'll stop responding to comments on this thread henceforth. |

Dongreat: Bro my advice is don't quote em again. When I saw the comment that this cheap mtk phone fingerprint scanner is faster than iPhone 6s, I know it's all gimmick to trap the gullible. iPhone 6s scanner is so fast that it skips notifications such as missed calls or messages, reason why iOS 10 is changing the unlock pattern. Fastest scanner ever produced (iPhone 6s) not to talk of durability, premium feel, friendly and easy OS. Reason why people condemn iPhone it's because they don't have the cash to spend on it. I used to until I purchased it and I know innovation when I see one. iPhone make phones that are called the next best thing, while others make to call 'the iPhone model killer'. @op, your infinix maybe good but please never compare to any iPhone. Cheers. Ps: no one should quote for a debate cos I ain't paid by Apple or android, so won't engaged. People don't condemn iPhones but the attitude of some few insecure iPhone users like you. FYI there are now so many smartphones within the price range of iPhone 6s plus, yet you don't see them making so much noise on the internet. The days iPhone was a status symbol is long gone mate, don't get pissed coz others are now going for value for their hard earned money, China or not |
Sports › Re: RIO 2016: Where American Basketball Team Will Stay VS The Athletes' Village. by 2kurupt(m): 11:28am On Aug 06, 2016 |
mmsen: The top golfers and tennis players also have alternate/superior accommodation - is that also due 'blackman mentality'? Those that have the means usually do not stay in the village because the hames village is, at best, a mediocre venue.
A lack of quality hotels was a comment made by several media outlets and the US basketball administration decided to take appropriate action. The Australians have been crying that they wish they'd found alternate accommodation because the official quarters are a disgrace - is that also because of a 'blackman mentality'? They've been saying for years that Rio would need a lot of work to be ready for such events.
How about the athletes who have said that they won't be going to Rio because they fear for their health and safety? Is that also due to 'blackman mentality? Is it a 'blackman mentality' that has some people worried about the Zika virus during Brazil's winter time when mosquitos will be non-existent? Or in Rio when the Zika virus is more prevalent in northern Brazil?
Some of you have a level of self-hatred thah makes me wonder why you don't top yourselves instead of occupying space and spewing nonsense. What the hell is a 'blackman mentality'?
Many athletes will nat be staying in the games village. It happens every tournament. I'm still not sure why it's such a big deal to some of you.
P.S. This is the Rio that you are defending - Bus full of Chinese basketball reporters caught in roadside gunfight on the way to Olympic Village in Rio: http://shanghaiist.com/2016/08/05/rio_roadside_shoot_out.php Self hate you say? How about passing your point across without being abusive? It's not like you're gonna be paid throwing around insults to anybody that doesn't share your views. Digging thru Google to find negative news links ain't gonna validate the fact that a cruise ship accommodation for a select few is out of place & completely unnecessary. Would they be putting on gas mask during the basketball matches for fear of zika virus? Enough said, peace out |

Mikeiron78: We've got to stop the poor poverty-stricken thinking in Nigeria, so, you're telling me that living a comfortable life that you can afford is a waste of money? Think about it again and let it sink before you reply bro, lol. Everyone cannot win gold at the Olympic, but check the historic record and let me know how many times the USA won gold. No insult intended, We need to upgrade our thinking to an intellectual one. funny how you reason about being successful. That "poverty-stricken" reasoning is why you don't see most black American celebrities remain up there for a long time, not to talk of their entire life. We've seen it time & again of super rich boxers, musicians etc squander their wealth away while their white counterparts remain in the good life & pass it on to the offspring. Have you ever wondered why the top 3 richest men have retained & been shuffling those rich-list positions among themselves? It is called being prudent |
Sports › Re: RIO 2016: Where American Basketball Team Will Stay VS The Athletes' Village. by 2kurupt(m): 7:44am On Aug 06, 2016 |
Mikeiron78: Living a comfortable life you can afford is showing off? Americans don't show off like Nigerians do, check your fact, money and being comfortable bring success. Explain to me how those who are from rich families make it better and faster than those that are not born with silver spoon in their mouths. let's stop hating, if you can't beat them, join them bro,lol We're not talking about social class nor stratification. The International Olympic Committee already knows that several of these sportsmen are millionaires before approving the Olympic village for use. It's a sports tournament and not some jamboree so all that's needed is the basics. Are you saying the Australian NBA stars that are chilling with the rest of the Australian contingent are dumb or broke? The point is why bring about unnecessary media attention when that's not the main objective why they're there? Come to think of it, how many of the NBA stars were born with a "silver spoon" as you put it? Don't let your sentiments for anything Nigerian blindfold you to think this ain't showing off. Funny how you guys rush to say "hating" in simple argumentation when neither of us are directly connected with the subject matter. |
Sports › Re: RIO 2016: Where American Basketball Team Will Stay VS The Athletes' Village. by 2kurupt(m): 7:29am On Aug 06, 2016 |
mmsen: It happens all the time, at every Olympics. The US basketball players, the tennis players and the high profile golf players get their own, superior accommodation. Usually it's a hotel but there aren't enough good quality hotels in Rio so they've had to charter a cruise ship hotel. I'm not sure how this constitutes showing off.
Nor do I can't blame them, the dorms provided are of a low standard.
You mentioned the World Cup in Brazil, there were serious concerns pertaining to accommodation during that tournament as well: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2509591/Englands-World-Cup-squad-stay-hotel-overlooks-Brazils-biggest-slum.html "there aren't enough good quality hotels in Rio" Did I just read that correctly? C'mon man, Rio de Janeiro is a top holiday destination & that wasn't just a media propaganda. I ain't a Brazilian but I find that statement of yours insulting, discrediting an entire city just to justify your point. So the rest of the US contingent using the Olympic village & lodging at hotels are 3rd class American citizens right? Someone said "Blackman mentality" above and you guys were seeking for his head. I can't say am surprised in all these since almost the entire US basketball team is made up of blacks. |

greenhulk: U keep talking about apps. How about microsoft make good apps for their phones then developers can follow. Take a look at Google apps, they are sleek and well polished. Apple apps also are well polished and they just work. But look at Microsoft apps, they look unfinished and ugly with oversized icons. The only Microsoft apps that are good are the office apps.
From errors downloading updates from the windows store to legacy apps just disappearing from ur phones. I had a lumia 920 once and my contacts app just disappeared like that. Go to the windows store it will tell u the app is already downloaded but I couldn't find it in the app list. I checked online and found out lots of people had the same problem. When microsoft can't make their own apps work, how can they attract developers? Do u think owners of Facebook and Instagram cannot make good apps for Windows? Yes they can but the windows architecture is f!cked up that is why apps look ugly on them, the whole os needs a revamp. If iOS.. a closed and restricted OS can have developers making apps for it than a more open and older windows phone, then there's something microsoft is not doing right.
And who told u that u can't download and upload files on safari? It is obvious u don't use an ios device. I use both ios and android, though android is more functional, u can't take away the fact that ios is just sleek with better battery and ram management. Dude, this argument ain't gonna stop anytime soon especially with Elxandre on the thread. The guy pops out whenever Windows os is mentioned (no offence). @Elxandre I think you should be open minded in your usage of tech coz it's about the most dynamic sector. How about you play around the other mobile operating systems so as to get a better picture why people are jumping ship from Windows os or cause of its remarkably slow growth rate? |
