Dud, I take it that you are knowledgeable and at least know these things are not difficult and am not paranoid, I know how these things work.

These are America companies and you are legally bind to disclose to consumers the type of information you are gathering, how you are gathering that information, who you will disclose that information and the specifics of the information you are gathering. I disclose this to my customer, else I will be in trouble.

Go back and read Apple, Android and Windows 10 User disclosure agreements, the same agreement written in fine print that, you agreed to before installing those OS, they will tell you in details what the type of data they will be harvesting from you and you must agreed to it, before they will allow you to install the OS or upgrade it...then come back and tell us what Apple vs Android vs Windows 10 indicates they will be collecting and you will conclude that, Windows 10's is unprecedented.

I am not disagreeing with the fact that these companies gather & utilise consumer's info for their benefit, heck that's what Google was built on that's why they're the king of internet ads.

But then if you have these views & strongly disapprove their actions then you might as well boycott their devices altogether, switch to core open source systems like Linux, sailfish os etc or better still design your own platform. Mac, Android os, iOS, old Windows versions & indeed Windows 10 are all the same in terms of acquiring data & using same (Fine print or not).

People are not altogether oblivious of these so called "data harvesting" that's why they're urged to divulge as little information as possible.

Lastly I say you're being paranoid coz you seem to put all your focus on Microsoft which is just new to the party, I bet you already own a Facebook account, use whatsapp & probably Instagram too. Do you know just about how much info Facebook alone already got on you? Now that almost all mega tech producers are switching to cloud computing & storage what will you have the consumers do?

If you don't use these services which I doubt, then thumbs up coz you might be regressing to the stone age in a bit to protect your precious data.

when I ran compability checks on my Dell pc as required from the upgrade info in my taskbar, it okayed every components of my laptop but told me that I have to activate the windows operating system before It can download the windows 10...I just don't know how to activate the windows however, can someone help me out.

Apple desktop PC do not harvest customer data to the level that Window 10 is doing, in fact there are very minute instances where Apple collect user data on its desktop devices.

Apple mobile devices collects user data like location, etc but not to the extent that Windows 10 will.

You know this coz you work for both Apple & Microsoft right?

My windows defender has never successfully updated. It keeps giving an error message after wasting time. Stuck with a 3rd party virus scanner app for now.

What's the error message? Am sure you can troubleshoot it, also what's the condition of your network?

Mind you, you're not supposed to be running another antivirus programme if Windows defender is activated

I have the same issue its over 2months now.i cant connect to public hotspot xpect my phone....am thinking of revert back to windows 8.i dont like dis called windows 10. A guy told me that i will not be able to connect to public wifi becose my os 10 is home basic or so but i dont believe him.i have search internet, i have done many update stiil the same problem.

Update your Wi-Fi drivers & every other driver for that matter to get all such issues fixed.

You sure do. Maybe not now but it will only take a few days before hackers and the Anti-virus companies start coding new virus and malware programmes once they get a hang of the Windows 10 OS.

Windows 10 has been in use for almost 2 years that's including is preview era, don't tell me hackers still haven't gotten a hang of it. Antivirus apps are overrated, I stopped using em since 2014 & solely rely on Windows defender and don't get any issues.
Avoid phoney sites and you'll be home free

You can get it for free on Torrent sites, don't pay for it.

True you can download the installer file but you can't install offline so therefore the deadline still persists

Am sure you're playing cracked games & probably got patches installed too. It's most likely caused by your antivirus or Windows defender coz they see the cracks & patches as viruses, malware.
Solution: always install all your games in a single game folder then except that folder from being scanned by your antivirus/Windows defender or check your display drivers like someone pointed out

Nope, only once did I notice fingerprint failure issues like I used to observe when I was on stable rom but was fixed after the next update. Chinese dev roms get updates every week.

What I'm saying is if you're on Developer ROM on MiUi7, you can't get an OTA update for coming MiUi8 Global Stable ROM.

If he's on developer rom then he'll get miui 8 update before you guys on stable or global rom.

I know coz I've been rocking miui 8 for over a month now on Chinese dev rom. trust me it's more stable than the so-called "stable" rom

Wow, now that you are rooted, I can't guarantee if the normal process will be safe for you. Mine is rooted too but have not done any update since then. Am waiting for miui 8 global stable rom which should be out in a month's time. If you can't wait then you should visit the miui forum for help. The normal process is for you to tap on tools, then 'updater' then check for update. You can do the update and follow the next steps:
Connect your device to your Windows PC/laptop via a micro USB cable, and copy the ROM file you downloaded into the folder ‘downloaded_rom’(you can create the folder yourself if its not there already) in the internal storage of your device. Launch ‘Updater' app on your device, then click the ‘…’ icon at the top-right corner, select ‘Choose update package’, and choose the ROM file you’ve put in ‘downloaded_rom’.
After choosing the right ROM file, your device will begin upgrading. Your device should automatically boot to the new version when the update is completed.

Updating your phone after root does no harm but makes you lose root. Personally I don't see the need to root since I experimented with it shortly after getting my note 3

Surprised the OP has not joined the bandwagon. I know guys who use it as their default call app, unless the person ain't in their whatsapp circle.

If you have friends who use updated whatsapp versions, in good network areas & always online then I'll advise you use it to be calling them.

The data rate is so cheap & voice clarity is so clear you'll pick ambient sounds like you were in the same room. I wonder why our networks are yet to have such voice clarity.

All networks have this issue, depends on your location
