I was seething with rage after seeing and reading the thread title but on seeing the name of the lady and reading why she was representing Ondo state, I felt so disappointed with Yoruba people.

This is not limited to the people writing petition against this woman. This is characteristic of Yoruba people. They can be primitively and senselessly tribalistic.

Olukemi Olufunto Adegoke married Hamish Badenoch, they have been married for 8 years. Today she is Tory member and the MP representing Saffron Walden. She was well accepted by everyone. Even without her marriage, she might’ve still won the seat.

Kemi wasn’t representing rough and poor Hackney or Peckham where there are lots of Yoruba people, she’s presenting Saffron Walden which is one of the wealthiest parts of the UK. No one has crucified her yet despite her many ramblings and blunders but here is a Nigerian woman happily married to an Ondo state Yoruba man and hateful people won’t let her be.

When Dr Kingsley Obiora’s name came up as the new replacement for Dr Okwu Nnanna, everyone kept quiet. No one criticised the appointment.
Dr Obiora is from Delta state, the position he was to occupy and is occupying today was supposed to be filled by someone from the South East. Heaven did not fall.

The woman is from ondo by marriage. Even if she divorces the husband today, she will retain the surname snd citizenship and there is no single thing any yoruba or ilaje person can do about it

Then Your sister is not from Ondo in any way, neither is this rivers lady. Her children can contest in future. But for now, the slot belongs rightfully to an Ondo indigene. Ondo indigenes need the jobs plus the jobs that will come available in that ambassadors office. That is why they appoint by federal character. We cannot have her fill the jobs in her ambassador country with Rivers indigenes. In case you don’t know, Federal Character is there so that every state indigene gets employment opportunities.

So the people’s objection to this choice is valid. The First Lady has set a bad precedence that will haunt others. An indigene should get the slot. Because of marriage they cannot be overriding the rights of indigenes in the state. Most marriages are temporary these days.

Yoruba’s were the most educated. Not Igbos. Igbos were just nepotistic when they enter power and they started the division in this country along tribal lines even before the wars. You will see Ibo man with certificate he cannot defend working in Civil service. Many higher institutions were in the habit of selling certificates in the East even until recently. They found themselves in power and abused it again by unifying the country for sinister motives but this has proven to be their greatest mistake. They thought they could take advantage and seize the whole country but no tribe in Nigeria can ever achieve that because we are very diverse. Just do your best and leave the position for others, you say no.
