Sir,Oiseh already made up his mind on Ikeme as his number one just like Vogts preferred Ejide over Enyeama.

Oliseh lack of managerial ability didn't let us see good rivalry between Carl Ikeme and Vincent Enyeama.

Did he? Or Enyeama didn't want competition at all?

I think we should put things into proper perspective when discussing the saga that ensued.

If Super Eagles lose on Tuesday. I'll suggest that we close this thread temporarily and go face other pressing matters in our individual lives.

With the way we struggle to score. Cape Verde is no longer a walkover.
Exactly grin

Philosopher1979:

Rohr should start with chukwueze and ejuke at the alsame time as wingers in a 4 2 3 1 formation. Ejuke can also drift into midfield and help iwobi with 3 creative players running and passing at their defense cape verde will be forced to defend. I mean chukwueze, ejuke and iwobi will be too much for their players to contain. But I doubt rohrs competence.
The only issue I have with Rohr is his insistence on attacking from the wings when we play possesion games against small teams. It obvious we are not passing well enough in the box to score often. We can try sudden outside 18 ground or low shots from unlikely places. Pass, pass, pass then somebody just shoots. That shit works so well in Africa, I've watched a couple of CAF games and it leads to goals more often than you'd think. It may look amateurish but it still works.

Yes it works so well in Africa. Most Africa goalies are not good shot stoppers.

Did Enyeama tell you that he didn't want competition? He is a professional player, and he understands competition is part of the game

For the final play-off to end well and avoid poor officiating, I think VAR & one leg play-off in a neutral ground will be better. No need for the first and second leg; take all five matches to a neutral venue with a functioning VAR. Egypt , Morroco, Algeria and Tunisia playing at home can intimidate referees and visiting teams.

It's a 2 leg tie to be played in a space of 3 days. Home and away fixtures. Neutral venue may not work. The VAR will be decided depending on its usefulness in the AFCON as it'd be used in all games.

If Oliseh didn't made up his mind then why removed Vincent Enyeama as captain unceremoniously...remember Mikel was the next target and he did that by benching Mikel for one Peter Onobi.

Or do you have a strong view on what happened between Oliseh and Enyeama....I want to know more...

Well said, bros. The neutral venue may work since there is crowd restriction due to covid 19. Good football pitch and VAR is a must to allow the best team to qualify. I got your point on a two-leg tie which CAF agreed upon .

The officiating is ridiculous. The penalty for DRC first goal even surprised the DRC players! Looking at this match, I can predict that SA/Ghana match will end in a draw and the Super Eagles will get at least a draw to go through on Tuesday (CAF effect). It's DRC vs Benin, not Congo!

Mali hasn't conceded a goal in this qualifiers. It tells how strong and compact they have been.

Not a single goal conceded

With respect to development, a player gains more training with top teams than playing week in week out with weak teams. Do you agree?

By the way, are you saying Awoniyi was a team member for Liverpool for a season? Not training for a window or preseason. I mean part of the squad.

That is the point.

Phil Foden was part of the squad for over two seasons without reasonable playing time. Training under a top coach and with top players. Now he has exploded into a very top player. That is the point.

He trained with U23 mostly to be honest, but even then he was not outstanding. Strong yes, super fast and technical I am sorry No.

There were better boys and younger than him there.

Those boys who were outstanding got promoted to the first team. Two defender CB went from U23 to the first team , when all three first CB got injured.

It's what you do in the youth teams that gives you a bridge to the first team. And then when you get the opportunity or chance do you utilize and make a name for yourself.

Saka got a chance at Arsenal as a 16 year old and claimed a permanent position he just turned 20 a month ago . And he has played 3 competitive season s in the EPL already and is a key player for Arsenal and England national team.

So your proposition about endless training and drills doesn't really cut it for me .

If l look at Liverpool Youth team , my prediction are for a certain 18 year old midfielder James Balagizi, to be the next big thing. It may not happen but that's my view .

A lot of the U23 players will train with the first team and if they impress they get in. Some do it immediately by some needs lots of drilling ( according to you )

In my opinion it's not so deep, managers have preferences and that shows in their selections.

Rohr has a way of suppressing someones talent,
I thought that someone like akpoguma would be a massive addition to d team by now,but he is yet to start making any meaningful contribution because of rohr.

U see these 3 countries,
Ghana,
Cameroon/CIV,
Egypt ,

Playing any of them is d same as playing any of the seeded teams,or even more difficult.

With d way our team is playing,
only luck and individual brilliance can help us in d play off if we top our group.

Er here is another question.... Do you have irrefutable proof that that's what happened? Is it also true Mikel was the next target? Or we just assuming based on what was reported for us to read and hear in the media?
