Enyeama Steals The Headline With Unbelievable Save For Lille Against PSG, Concedes Controversial Goal

Former Super Eagles captain and goalkepper
Vincent Enyeama was the star of the show
despite Lille’s 1-2 loss to PSG in a Ligue 1 tie
yesterday.

Enyeama returned back to the line up for Lille
after missing their last two games due to injury,
and the shot stopper immediately showed the
club what they have been missing.

He made save after save in the first half, and
probably had more touches than some outfield
players of Lille, before he was finally beaten by a
flick header from Edinson Cavani.

The peak of his saves was denying Angel Di Maria well hit drive at close range, a save which has been severally reviewed by the French media, with most terming it almost unbelievable.

French Magazine L’equipe wondered if his wrist is made of iron judging by how he flicked the drive at close range to deny the Argentine.

His heroics didn’t earn his side a point as he was beaten by a late goal by Lucas Moura which was scored from an offside position as seen by the television replays.

Players of Lille lead by Enyeama protested the
goal but it stood, and Enyeama was even booked by the referee for angrily confronting the assistant referee after the controversial goal.

"Busquets is the 'white-form' of Mikel"

Cc: Sir Joseph1013

I think Sir Zicky just dropped a very powerful fact.

If Busquets was Nigerian playing for Chelsea and and Mikel was Spainard playing for Barca..... Hehehehehe... Don't you think you will rate Mikel above busquets?

Coz truth is they play the same way in the DM/CM role only that Mikel has more skillsets than busquets as can be seen in the green-and-white.

That's a good debate. I submit that if Busquets was at Chelsea and played the same number of games and was as consistent, he would be World Class. If Mikel played at Barcelona and experienced the highs and lows he experienced at Chelsea in Barcelona, he would not be World Class, he would still be a great player.

Busquets is too consistent at a high level over a great number of games across many competitions to ignore.

Rohr Confesses Concerns About Beating
South Africa Than Cameroun For Now

Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr says his focus is on their immediate task, which is the AFCON 2019 qualifiers tie against South Africa and not the World Cup 2018 qualifiers against Cameroun.

Rohr made this known during a chat with
Owngoalnigeria.com correspondent in Sagamu
shortly after watching Niger Tornadoes beat Remo Stars 1-0 in a Nigeria Professional Football League game.

“I understand that Nigerians are concerned about our progress to the 2018 World Cup in Russia, but don’t forget that we have not qualified for the AFCON since 2013 and the crucial game against South Africa is in June, so I want to focus on that,” Rohr said.

The German reasons that a good showing against South Africa will also serve as a morale-booster when the Indomitable Lions come calling in August.

“We have six months between now and August
when we play Cameroun. Between now and then we are going to play two friendly games, as well as the qualifier against South Africa. If we do well in those games, it will help our confidence against Cameroun,” Rohr says.

The Words Ace Commentator Martin Tyler
Used In Describing Ndidi Screamer For Leicester Live On Air – #YesNdidi

Wilfred Ndidi's spectacular goal for Leicester City in their 3-1 FA Cup replay win over Derby County took a whole lot of people by surprise including ace commentator Martin Tyler.

Ndidi received a pass from Riyad Mahrez some
metres into the half of Derby County and drove
forward in bullish mood before unleashing a
thunderous left foot strike, which sailed into the
net to give Leicester City a 2-1 lead in extra-time.

The Nigerian was 282 seconds on the pitch when he scored, and just like most people who saw the game, Tyler was also taken aback by the strike, and reacted to it with a statement that ended up as a trend on social media platform twitter.

Tyler’s words were short but captivating as the
ace commentator appeared to be short of words, he simply said ” Oh Yes Ndidi”.

#YesNdidi started trending almost immediately
on twitter, and even the official handle of
Leicester City also captured it in their post match picture post.

Leicester City Long-Range Specialist Ndidi
Wins 2016 Belgian Goal Of The Year

On the same night that Wilfred Ndidi opened his goalscoring account for Leicester City, the central midfielder won the 2016 Goal of the Year at the 63rd edition of the Belgian Golden Shoe.

The Nigeria international was preparing to take to the pitch against Derby County in the fourth
round of the FA Cup and was not present to
receive the prestigious award on Wednesday.

Ndidi’s trademark shot from distance against Club Brugge in the First Division A playoffs on April 20 was voted the most eye-catching goal in Belgium for 2016.

The 20-year-old accumulated 2,385 votes to win the accolade, ahead of José Izqueirdo (1816), Ricardo van Rhijn (892) and Alexander Chipciu (865).

In the final classification for the Belgian Golden
Shoe or Gouden Schoen, an award given to the
best footballer in the Belgian top-flight for the
past year, the Super Eagle ranked tenth.

This is a disappointing comment. Busquets is irreplaceable in the Barcelona team. Busquets gives some of the most difficult kind of passes that break opposition lines. He is widely acknowledged as the best defensive midfielder in the world. That's what TheGoodJoe was saying about defensive midfielders. Because they are not flamboyant, their roles tend to be underplayed.

You believe the way he breaks down opposition plays will not thrive in a team like Juventus and Chelsea?
Busquets recycles possession. He does not break down defences. Can you mention a match Busquets decided on his own? I can mention games kross, Modric, Xabi Alonso, Yaya, Pirlo, even Montolivo, Verrati etc won on their own.
Can you say the same of Busquets? Be honest

True talk but do u think Busquets w make it at Chelsea coz Chelsea as a club from d onset always go for powerful midfielder e.g.Makelele,Essien,Diarra,Kante,Matic,i can say only Mikel was different in his approach and positional play.

The truth is, the word world class is only synonymous with an attacker and an attacking midfielder. Chikena!

But in some special cases wing backs are also tagged world class.

Nobody will tag a defensive midfielder world class because em no dey dribble, em no get assist or no em no dey score except they have all these attributes then dem go call you world class. Even those that have these attributes are deep lying playmaker or a box to box midfielder.

I have seen Mikel Obi play for Chelsea more than hundred times and I think he never played to his potential though he brought stability to the team and allowed many to flourish but he never showed his real color. That is why most Chelsea fans don't really rate him though he's a legend in Chelsea..

But whenever I see my Mikel in green and white, Hmmm, sometimes I dey vex because e come be like say Chelsea na em dey kill the guy star.

The truth is, without Mikel, no Ucl medal for Chelsea. grin

I am in a dilemma to call or not to call.... until I see the world's definition of world class.

That may be true. I can agree with that.

There are many very good players that are not on my list. The decision on Mikel is not personal. Players like Jordi Alba, Pepe, Pique, Ivan Rakitic, Mesut Özil, Toni Kroos, Kevin de Bruyne, Gareth Bale, Kroos, Xabi Alonso, Alexis Sanches, David Silva, Thomas Müller are not on the list. No one can argue that these ones are great players, even legends, like Mikel. But are they World Class? I will disagree.

Easily.
Juventus 1-3 Barcelona, Champions league final. Busquets was the man of the match. Check out ratings from football sites.

Frankly, the only people who will say he is overrated are people who "think they know football". This was a player who at the age of 21, replaced the great Marcos Senna (from the Euro winning squad of 2008) to represent his country in the World Cup 2010 and Euro 2012. He replaced Yaya Toure from the Barcelona first team. And has been first choice for both country and club. He forced Javier Mascherano to play Centre Back although Mascherano has had more experience in his position and has never played as a Centre Back before. So we can observe that everywhere he went, he has replaced more experienced and proven players before him.

What I will do is give you what his coaches and teammates said about him.

I saw him played yesterday and I think he's a box to box midfielder. I noticed that he likes passing sideways and he is raw at tackling. Overall, I don't think he's a CMF because he doesn't hold unto the ball.

I suggest he plays as a defensive midfielder while Onazi should play as the CMf/box to box midfielder.

Onazi seems to be better than him because he can play anywhere in the midfield and he is also doing well.

I don't like quoting articles but if you Google most overrated players in the world, the number of times you will find the name Busqets appear is quite alarming.
Truth is that he is a very good player but he is not a great player.

Players I class as great are players who you build a team around and expect them to carry the team on their shoulders.
Neither the Barcelona team nor Spanish national team were built around Busqets. Bring Busqets to Arsenal or Chelsea and task him to lead the team to glory, he will be found out.

If Makelele could cut it at Chelsea, I'm confident Busquets would. Sergio is a game reader like no other. He doesn't have to rely on his strength. Too much is being said about the physically of the EPL, but evidence shows that a lot of 'fragile' players have shone like a million stars in the English league. Think Silva, Idrissa Gueye, Ozil, Hazard, etc

That's not what being worldclass is about na. It does not mean a team is built around you. Which team is built around Thiago Silva or Mudric. In fact, which team in Europe is built around a defensive midfielder?

For a defensive midfielder to be considered world class, he must have excellent vision, ball playing ability, intelligence (he knows how to read the game) and tactical knowledge plus he is able to do all the dirty work i.e. tackling and intercepting. Most importantly, he must be CONSISTENT. Busquets is all that.

Anyway, like I said before, what I listed is my subjective list of world-class players.

Kante world class? Joseph, I thought you said players who have achieved for club and country? What has Kante done in France? How many years has he played?

If Kante is World Class, then put Aubmeyang and Mahrez who were duly recognized by FIFA as world class too. Let us also remember Benzema as world class

The term "world class" is very subjective in nature, so the fact that some people say Mikel is World class doesn't make them 'sentimental' or ridiculous, especially if there are stats to back it up. Also, saying he isn't is also a personal opinion with facts to back it up. Nobody is wrong or right

As far as the world knows though, Mikel is a god in Nigeria and it's no small feat to be regarded as such in a country that has produced the likes of Kanu, Okocha, Finidi George etc

Rohr Cast Doubts Over Musa Muhammed Eagles Future, Confirms Invitation Of New Full Backs

image
Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has dropped a big hint about the international future of former Nigeria U-17 and 20 captain Musa Muhammed.

Rohr has in the past warned the full back about his chances in the team if he doesn’t start playing games for his club side Istanbul Basaksehir in Turkey.

Musa’s search for regular playing time made him join Bosnian side FK Zeljeznicar Saravejo on loan from the Turkish side few days ago, a move which could also help his national team career.

However Rohr was not so sure of his chances in the team, as he told Owngoalnigeria.com in Sagamu that he has secured the services of two new full backs for the team.

” Musa have to fight for his spot in the team, hopefully we expect two defenders who play same role as him to be in the team for our next friendly games. He is however still part of our plans”, Rohr said.

EAGLES COACH ROHR REVEALS HE WILL TEST NEW STARS IN MARCH FRIENDLIES

Eagles coach Rohr reveals he will test new stars in March friendlies
Tyronne Ebuehi

by Staff Reporter
Thursday Feb 09, 2017. 08:05

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has said he hopes to use next month’s friendlies to test some new players as Nigeria begin preparations for an AFCON 2019 qualifier at home against South Africa as well as World Cup qualifiers against Cameroon from August.

Nigeria have already agreed a friendly against Senegal on March 23 in London, while the country are discussing with DR Congo, Ghana and Morocco for another test game during this window.

“We have two friendlies next month and I hope to test new players,” revealed Rohr.

One of the players likely to be capped next month by the coach would be ADO Den Haag right-back Tyronne Ebuehi.

Last year, Ebuehi first declined an Eagles call-up, but Rohr has now received assurances the player will honour the next invitation by Nigeria.

MIKEL IS WORLD-CLASS. Live with it or remain in denial.

I don't have the time to argue football with anyone because most times you don't achieve anything and it usually leads to insult. An average Nigerian's idea of world class is just a bit above average in the world stage that's why we hype our own too much here.

A lot of you are already tipping Nigeria to get an upper hand in the two - game encounter with Cameroon just like you did against Egypt in the nations cup qualifier. Let me tell you that game is a 50-50 chance which could swing either way even if Cameroon hadn't qualified from the group stage in the AFCON.

I followed this thread earlier and i saw some people write off Cameroon from getting to the final of the tournament. I LAUGHED. there is no way you could write off any of Egypt, Ghana, Cameroon and Nigeria as not being favorite to lift the afcon anytime even if their players are playing with half-leg. It's like writing off Brazil in the world Cup or writing off sevilla in the uefa cup. All I'm saying is some teams do feel it's their birthright to win the trophy in a particular tournament and it's stupid to write off that team even if you feel they are weak.

So what I'm saying is 1. MIKEL IS NOT WORLD CLASS (PERHARPS ALMOST) 2.THE GAME NIG VS CAM IS 50-50(NO FAVOURITE, COULD SWING EITHER WAY)

All in all, like i said i don't argue football nothing good ever comes out of it and this is just my opinion. Everybody is welcome to his /her own opinion.

Reports – Iheanacho Set For Summer Exit From Man City As He Doesn’t Fit Into Guardiola’s System

Manager of Manchester City Pep Guardiola will allow Kelechi leave Manchester City this summer according to reports coming out of the homeland of the manager.

Although Guardiola blocked him from leaving the club in January, a decision for him to leave in the summer has been reached, and according to some reports it has been communicated to the Nigeria international.

Guardiola didn’t list Iheanacho in his matchday squad for the club’s last four games, and it is reported that he has told the 20 year old that he is free to leave the club in the summer.

Iheanacho will be allowed to leave the Etihad in the summer, on an initial loan deal with the option of a permanent deal at the end of next season, as he failed to convince Guardiola during the injury enforced absence of star forward Sergio Kun Aguero.

Spanish online media Fichajes.com reports that Guardiola has decided to keep Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Kun Aguero at the end of the season, and the club is willing to listen to offers for Kelechi Iheanacho.

Last season, Mikel was central to Chelsea's revival. It was not a coincidence that results improved after Mikel came back into the team. Mikel was one of Chelsea's key players in their Champions league run. Probably, MOTM in the final..

He was not flamboyant so his work gets overlooked.
True, but his performances were no where close to Kante. Kante had much more impact in Leicester than he did.

irrefragable:

Hey, come here. You cannot throw shades and run away. You must get a response by fire by force. grin

Not comparable, Leicester had 2 or 3 outstanding players in their team. Trophy winning Chelsea teams had a lot more. Every player was a star in his own right. In that kind of team, your work gets overlooked.
