emmahoney:oga nylon is a polymeric material mostly used for producing fabric, strings, ropes and such other things. polyethene, polystyrene and PET are the ones mainly used for food packaging and not nylon!!! loosely, we refer to polyethene shopping bags and packaging as nylon in Nigeria although that's wrong. |

RichYoungNigger: The earlier you believe the better for you. someone just exposed the untold truth its left for you to do your research properly, you get some YouTube videos of coke. bro I don't doubt it but believe me if those people eat moi moi wrapped in poly bags of plastics they'd do the video too and maybe you'll believe em. let me blow your mind. the air you breathe is very dirty and dangerous too especially if you live in a place like Lagos. you can quote me but first do your research bro 1 Like |

oseiwe: Well, the claim is that they are made of better natural non-toxic materials (UV and heat resistant). Some plastics are actually BPA-free, but BPA is not the only harmful chemical to watch out for. Another thing about research and science is, we don't know what we'll find out tomorrow. Presently, the most sensitive and suspect are the common bottled water and polythene (sachet) -- they are more susceptible to degradation by heat and reuse -- actually they should never be reused. Relatively, your overhead tank should be safer; covering it with a thick shade (even though they can withstand higher temperatures) would do it a whole world of good! Actually I would say you shouldn't ever be drinking water from it if it is not shaded. |

When you say moi moi in leaves, what kind of leaves? I know some can be poisonous, moi moi in rusty tin is safe shey? I tot plastics are product of rubber, rubber are gotten from rubber trees. Op next you post something like this, post a research paper link to it and stop giving us the impression nylon moi moi causes cancer with no empirical proof. As if the moi moi is eaten with the nylon, when chew gum is a product of rubber. |

prinsam30: Synthetic fabrics are actually bad for you. TOP 6 TOXIC FABRICS 1. Polyester is the worst fabric you can buy. It is made from synthetic polymers that are made from esters of dihydric alcohol and terpthalic acid. 2. Acrylic fabrics are polycrylonitriles and may cause cancer, according to the EPA. 3. Rayon is recycled wood pulp that must be treated with chemicals like caustic soda, ammonia, acetone and sulphuric acid to survive regular washing and wearing. 4. Acetate and Triacetate are made from wood fibers called cellulose and undergo extensive chemical processing to produce the finished product. 5. Nylon is made from petroleum and is often given a permanent chemical finish that can be harmful. 6. Anything static resistant, stain resistant, permanent press, wrinkle-free, stain proof or moth repellant. Many of the stain resistant and wrinkle-free fabrics are treated with perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs), like Teflon. MODERN MATERIALS Keep in mind that many fabrics (including natural fibers) undergo significant processing that often involves: Detergents Petrochemical dyes Formaldehyde to prevent shrinkage Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) Dioxin-producing bleach Chemical fabric softeners These additives are often toxic to the human body, may contain heavy metals and can pollute our environment. With these kinds of warnings, what can you do? If you are chemically sensitive or just want to surround yourself with healthy fabrics, there are new options. Doris Brunza, a fashion designer who worked in the Garment District in New York City for 20 years, knows about finding fabrics that don't cause reactions, because she is chemically sensitive. She points out that nearly ALL fabrics, including organic fabric, are treated with chemicals at some point during their processing. Still, some choices are better than others. In general, look for natural fibers like: Cotton Silk Linen Hemp Wool Cashmere http://bodyecology.com/articles/top_6_fabrics_you_should_avoid_wearing.php 1 Like |

symbianDON:lolz, nylon is a generic name for them all. That is why packing materials are as well referred to as nylon. They are both polymeric in nature and made from hydrocarbons of repeated units. |

planetx: God also grants Wisdom. I agree that this is not the only cancer causing practice but even the foods that are now causing cancer have been altered by human beings. The devices that emit cancer causing rays from microwaves, cell phone ect are all man made. Yes there is always risk but why not reduce it as much as you can? |

symbianDON:Nylon is a generic designation for a family of synthetic polymers , more specifically aliphatic or semi-aromatic polyamides. They can be melt-processed into fibers, films or shapes. The first example of nylon (nylon 66) was produced on February 28, 1935, by Wallace Carothers at DuPont 's research facility at the DuPont Experimental Station. Nylon polymers have found significant commercial applications in fibers (apparel, flooring and rubber reinforcement), in shapes (molded parts for cars, electrical equipment, etc.), and in films (mostly for food packaging). |
