EPISODE TWENTY SIX

Debby: So what happened mum? Exchange of child?

Mum: No. we had the naming ceremony of my son and I was the one that named you Daniel. Unfortunately after two months, I was deceived by your father and his wife, your step mother. They stole you away from me and I never get to see you or them again until last two years that your step mother called me to tell me you are now in abroad. She told me her conscience won’t let her rest and she apologized. That was how she linked us together before I started talking with my own son.

The whole atmosphere turned highly emotional and I could see both mum and Dan were almost crying. I was just there, not knowing what to say or how my own case will turn. I was eager to know how I ended up here and where I’m going to after now, but I couldn’t say a word.

Mum: Opeyemi, Deborah, this is your brother Daniel. He’s my first child.

Dan: I’m really sorry mum, I got to know she wasn’t my mother that time she linked us, because she has always been nice to me and never let me doubt her, not for a moment.

Mum: Don’t worry dear, she’s still your mother, you only have two mothers now. Seeing how good you look and how much they’ve taken care of you, I forgive them totally.

Debby: What about my big brother? (All these while I was totally silent, my head pointing down with so many thoughts running through my head)

Mum: Opeyemi is my son, my consolation. He’s the reason the thought of losing Daniel did not kill me. During all these trying times, your father (pointing to Debby), my beloved husband never left me. He loves me still and we got married some months after my son was kidnapped. All this while, he was also supporting the mother of the twins, your biological mother (pointing to me). He couldn’t leave them just like that because the twins were his brothers’ children, even though their father had ran to Ghana then. Your mother fell in love with another man and the new man said he can’t afford to take care of two kids that are not his. They dragged the issue for a while but the man insisted he’s only going to take care of the girl, that the mother should take the boy to his father’s family. My husband is the only family around but he rejected it vehemently, saying the mother should take care of her children. Some days after that, the unimaginable happened. Your mother has access to our house then, because my husband wants her to come home and take whatever she want anytime, whether we are at home or not. She used her key to enter our house one day while we were away, and drop you Kehinde Opeyemi Albert on our three sitter chair in the sitting room and left the town with her man and your twin sister Taiwo Aramide Albert. We never heard from her anymore until now that she’s looking for you.

Me: Aramide?

Mum: Yes, you are Kehinde but my husband prefers to call you William. We also decided to remove Kehinde from your official name to avoid questions like “where is Taye?” And you have been a source joy to me and your father since then. You never gave us problem.

Me: So I am the rejected and dumped son.

Mum: No dear, you were not rejected, its circumstances beyond her control. You know it’s not very easy to take care of twins, especially when one is not well doing.

Me: I get it mum, she preferred her husband to me. Why can’t the man marry her with the two children? At least I’ve read of men who marry a lady with three kids. By the way, my father was supporting her financially.

Mum: Don’t think that way dear. That’s how God wanted it to be. If she didn’t reject you I wouldn’t have you dear.

Me: Mum, I’m really happy you are my mother and not she (tears already rolling out of my eye). What if you rejected me, only God know where I would be by now. Mum if her husband had said “Let’s throw him in a river or dump him in a bush”, she would have done it.

Mum: Don’t create anger in your heart dear. You know God wouldn’t want that.

Me: You are the only mother I have mum, I don’t know any other person, nobody should look for me. Not even my supposed Father. Your husband is my father and he’s dead!

Tears has already filled my eye as I left them in the sitting room and headed into my room. I laid myself on the bed not knowing what to even think about. I remembered Aramide and wondered how she got to know who I was. I don’t think it was a mere coincidence, it’s more like she knows what she was doing. I was going to develop hatred for her but on a second thought, it wasn’t her choice to leave me, neither was it her choice to be chosen by my mother. Can I really forgive my mother? What kind of mother chose to leave her child for the love of another man? What sort of man make a mother chose between her children? What kind of man leaves his fiancé he impregnated for whatever reason it was and never return? All these questions keep pumping in my heart leading to anger and hatred. It was Debby’s entry into the room that brought me back from the state of deep thought.

Debby: BB, are you still crying?

Me: Not at all. I’m good now.

Debby: You are still my BB you know. Nothing will ever change that.

Me: (I smiled) Yeah, we are biologically cousins, so I’m still your brother.

Debby: I don’t agree with that. You are forever my BB not one cousin or whatever. I love you so much.

Me: I love you too sweetheart (we hugged)

Debby: Mum is crying, will you go to her?

Me: She’s crying? I caused that, let me go to her.

As I was about to leave the room, mum entered while Debby excused us.

Me: Mum I’m sorry I made you cry.

Mum: No my son, you didn’t. I could imagine what you are going through. Just be strong for me okay. I’m still your mother and I’ll be with you. If you are not ready to go through it you can wait a little, but always remember I love you.

Me: Thank you so much mum, for everything. I really wish you did not tell me this. You are my perfect mother and I don’t want anybody to share that with you. I don’t want a second mother.

Mum: You’ll have to forgive your parents so that you can have peace of mind. Remember you are a Christian, you must always forgive.

Me: I’ll forgive them mum. I’ll keep trying.

Mum: Your biological mother came looking for you last month. She’s been calling me asking about you for the past five months. Though I don’t know how she got hold of my number or where I am, but I’ve always told her to stay away from you. I told her your credentials in school but warned her off you. My conscience couldn’t take it anymore when she said your sister is seriously searching for you. They both came here last month.

Me: You mean Aramide?

Mum: Yeah, you’ve met?

Me: Yeah, she gave me all these theories but I never believed her

Mum: I guess she locate you from the description I gave her mother some months ago. She did saw your pictures when they came here but she did not tell me she has located you.

Me: No wonder she said her curiosity has been confirmed true when she called me earlier. The way she catered for me while I was ill last week was exceptional.

Mum: You were ill and you never told me?

Me: I’m fine mum, I can’t be disturbing you every time.

Mum: Don’t ever do that again! You want to kill me?

Me: Oh Oh, it was just small malaria

Mum: Small malaria and you needed being catered for? Don’t do it again.

Me: I’ve heard you mum. I’m sorry

Mum: I better check you before you leave.

Me: It’s not up to that. I’m very fine now. Mum, what should I do when I see her? I mean my biological mother.

Mum: Love her, hug her, forgive her and make her happy.

Me: Hmm, Just like that? I don’t think it will be that easy.

Mum: It will be, just make up your mind to love and forgive her. When you and your sister get along together, bring her home. She’s my daughter too. Your father would have wanted her here.

Me: Okay mum. You said you don’t recognize my biological father? Not even a picture?

Mum: No, I did not get to meet him before he left, and your father never showed me any picture of his.

Me: You once told me my father only adopt me when he got married to you, that my real father died when you were pregnant of me, why?

Mum: When your father died, so many people will start saying what they ought not to and you were still very young. I couldn’t risk putting you through that trauma because you weren’t matured enough to take it. I had to give you something to hold on to, something you can relate to if people start saying rubbish. I knew a day like this will surely come.

Me: I understand mum. Thanks a lot and I’m happy you have your son back.

Mum: I’m happy he’s okay and that I can see him again. It’s a great joy for me. He’s just back from abroad last month. He bought me that sienna you see outside.

Me: Wao! That’s great, but I’ll buy mine for you too.

Mum: And I will ride it with pride my dear. He want to sleep here with you, will it be okay?

Me: Sure mum, He’s a brother now. I think sharing birthday with him makes it look perfect. He’s like our triplet.

Mum: Okay dear. You can come out a little before you sleep.

Me: I’ll just stay here and think till I sleep.

Mum: Alright. Daddy Orire said he asked you to go for your driver’s license tomorrow. Make sure you go there early.

Me: I will mum, good night.

She left the room and I was sent back to the planet of thought. How will my mother look like? Will she be nice? I started creating so many images of her on my head using Aramide as prototype. It’s somehow relieving to know the truth but this truth has raised many questions than answers. The biggest of all the questions is who my father is? I was still in this thought when Dan knocked and entered the room.

Dan: BB Will

Me: (laughing) Better remove the BB, it’s exclusive for Debby.

Dan: If she calls you BB, what is she going to be calling me?

Me: Maybe Whatsapp or Skype (We both laughed)

Dan: I’m happy you are laughing bro. You are really strong. I thought my case was unfair until I heard yours. Mehn you try.

Me: I’m not the star here, mum is the super star.

Dan: It’s nice to have two mothers, two cool mothers.

Me: That’s my fear. I’ve not met the other one and I’m scared she might not be nice, though my sister seem nice.

Dan: You are his son, of course she’ll be nice.

I'm impressed..I'm a chronic Apostle of Perfectionism.but this is very very close to being perfect..it ain't just because the story is fascinating..its the consistency with which you update..cuz "Its not what we do in a while that counts, its what we do consistently"..

Keep it up Sir.

EPISODE TWENTY-SEVEN MFYL

While we were talking and sharing our different experiences and encounters, Funmi’s call entered.

Me: Please excuse me (I picked the call) Hello Funmi.

Funmi: Will how are you?

Me: I’m fine and you?

Funmi: I’m good. I just finish eating pounded yam.

Me: Really? Same here.

Funmi: Hmm, Mummy’s boy. Will, I’ll be going back to school tomorrow

Me: That’s fast

Funmi: Dad said he’s leading his officials to a conference, early tomorrow morning.

Me: All the company’s top officials are going?

Funmi: I think so. According to him, they’ll be joined by those in Lagos

Me: I see, Daddy Orire said the same thing. Try asking your dad if he knows him

Funmi: I will ask him but he’s asleep now and I’m in my room already.

Me: No problem. Will I see you before you leave?

Funmi: Probably not. They are leaving by 9am and I’ll love to leave before then because I don’t know anybody here. When are you going back to school?

Me: Monday

Funmi: Make it Sunday now

Me: I have something to do on Monday.

Funmi: Alright. I’ll be waiting for you to come.

Me: I’ll join you on Monday don’t worry (Line dropped)

Dan: Girl friend?

Me: Most likely yes

Dan: Why most likely?

Me: It’s not yet official

Dan: Why the wait?

Me: Confusion

Dan: Better be sure. By the way I’ll love to follow you down to your school when you are leaving.

Me: No problem. You’ve got somebody there?

Dan: I’ve got you. My girlfriend is there and she’s not been picking my calls for some days now.

Me: You guys fought?

Dan: No, I played a wrong prank on her and I’ve not been too serious

Me: You don’t love her that much?

Dan: With all my heart, I’m planning getting married to her latest next year.

Me: You’ve proposed?

Dan: From day one. She’s a great lady really. Will you help me locate her, because she’s not picking my calls?

Me: Positive, I’m done with my papers, so there is time

Dan: You should also go for your lady and stop being a coward.

Me: Coward? Far from it (My phone rand and it’s Janet) see the confusion I’m talking about

Dan: Another babe?

Me: Something close to that (I picked the call) Hello

Janet: Hello Will. Sorry we were not able to talk for long the other time. Somebody was explaining stuffs for me.

Me: No problem, hope you are good?

Janet: I am good but missing you

Me: I just left today now and stop saying that.

Janet: I can’t miss you? By the way, we have serious issue to talk about

Me: What is that?

Janet: When you come back. Good night. (The line went off)

Dan: You don’t love this one

Me: Why did you say that?

Dan: Stop deceiving yourself, the tone at which you spoke with the first lady is very different. It was more like you were expecting her call, but this? If you have your way, you’ll neglect the call.

Me: Bros, are you merlin or something that is reading mind?

Dan: It’s obvious and I’ve been there, I know how it works.

We talked more and more about girls and later jump to football till we slept off. I tried waking up early the following day (Saturday) but was only up by 8:30am. My phone already has six missed calls, all from Funmi. I returned the call and have my prayers after that before heading to the bathroom. I got to the sitting room only to discover mum has already prepared breakfast and Dan is set. We have our breakfast and left for FRSC office in Dan’s Jeep with me driving because he thought I know the city’s navigation than he does.

I was surprised everything needed to be done has already been done before we got there. I guess Daddy Orire eventually made the call he promised to make. I didn’t know he’s that influential of a person because of his simplicity. I filled the necessary forms and before an hour we were done. I was told to come for it on Monday contrary to my believe that I’ll have to wait for around 21 days and go true driving training since it’s a first time license. We left the place and I showed Dan around the city at his request before we finally went back home.

We got back to school by Monday afternoon but I was not able to get the license. They claim the process encountered a delay. I’ll go back there next two weeks when at least the normal 21 days would have been completed by then.

I introduced Dan to Temmy and narrated my twist of a story to him. He was so surprised with the revelations because he has never heard of it from his parent before, though we grew together. Maybe that’s because they don’t know. I forgot to branch his side at home but was relieved when he told me they’ve sent it through another person on Sunday. We began the ultimate search for Dan’s girlfriend and it was Temmy that asked the question I’ve refused to ask all these while

Temmy: What’s the girls’ name?

Dan: Janet

Temmy/Me: Janet?

Dan: Yes Janet, any problem? (Temmy and I looked at each other)

Temmy: No problem, which level is she?

Dan: 500 level but I always forget her department.

The situation is beginning to have K leg. How do we tell Dan that his darling Janet has been on my neck since? How do I tell him, I once kissed her when our romantic was hot? Temmy and I used style to excuse ourselves out leaving only Dan inside.

Me: Temmy are you thinking what I’m thinking?

Temmy: I’m confused o. It must not be.

Me: But their story is not totally matched

Temmy: What are the points?

Me: Janet broke up with her fiancée, but Dan’s girlfriend was just not picking calls.

Temmy: What if not picking up means break up to her?

Me: That’s ridiculous, who break up like that

Temmy: Was Dan’s family poor before he left for abroad?

Me: I really don’t know much about the family but I don’t think they were ever poor.

Temmy: There is still possibility he’s talking about Janet

Me: I have an idea, let’s show him a picture of Janet and see if she’s the one

Temmy: That sounds good, but what if she’s the one, what will you do?

Me: Mehn! This matter tie wrapper o. Don’t worry something will come up.

Temmy: I pray o, because it won’t be good to spoil Janet’s reputation with him

We both went inside only to find Dan staring at a picture from our album. The picture has four ladies, Janet, Rachael and two of their friends one of which is no more in our school.

Dan: Wao! I can’t believe this

Me: (We look at the picture and were like, Oh Boy!) What’s up with the picture?

Dan: Who is this lady? (Pointing to their friend that wasn’t in the school anymore)

Me: (My mind first came down from Everest it was before) I don’t know her name. We only know these two (Pointing to Janet and Rachael)

Dan: The babe is damn beautiful

Temmy: Is that what you said you can’t believe?

Dan: Are you guys blind? Can I get this babe’s digits?

Temmy: So that we can start searching for her too right? I thought you knew somebody in the picture.

Dan: For where? They are not familiar at all; I just love this babe’s shape.

We showed him like three other pictures where she can see Janet but he wasn’t showing any sign of knowing her, and that come as a relief.

Me: Dan, you will have to give us more details about your babe. We can’t be asking every 500level students now. What other names does she answer?

Dan: She’s also Adesewa, but I prefer calling her Janet.

Temmy: Sewa will do for us. By the way, you said she wasn’t picking your calls?

Dan: Yes

Temmy: Have you tried calling her with another line?

Dan: Oh my! That’s true

Me: Let’s use my line

He entered the number and I dialed it. She did pick up without delay

Me: Hello Janet Adesewa

Sewa: Hello, who is this?

Me: My name is Will, how are you doing?

Sewa: I’m fine. Please I don’t know any Will

Me: I know you don’t and that’s why I’m offended

Sewa: I’m so sorry; maybe I’ve mixed it up or lost your number. Can you describe yourself better please?

Me: Well, it’s not too cool with the fact you are going to be my in-law soon

Sewa: In-law? Please who am I speaking with?

Me: Like I said, I’m Will. I’m Daniels brother.

Sewa: In-law, Daniel. Wait! You mean Dan, my Dan? How do you know him and how do I know you are not a scam?

Me: He’s right beside me here right in your school. He’ll call you immediately after this call, please pick up this time. Will you?

Sewa: (Laughing) This is funny. Okay I will pick up.

Me: Thank you Adesewa

I asked Dan to call her and she did pick up but I snatched the phone from him

Sewa: Hello Dan, are you really in my school?

Me: Cool down love bird, it stills me your future in-law. I’m just confirming if it’s you too

Sewa: (Laughing) Please don’t trick me, is he really there? Where are you guys?

Me: I’ll give the phone to him; tell him how we can get to your side.

I handled the phone over to Dan and they continue the conversation. My own phone did ring and it was my now confirmed twin sister.

Me: Hello Aramide

Aramide: Will, are you back?

Me: Yeah I’m back. Can you come over?

Aramide? That will be tomorrow and I’ll love it if you can come to my side.

Me: No problem, just send me the details.

Aramide: I’ll do that now. How is Funmi?

Me: Did Funmi bribe you? She’s fine and how is Bankole

Aramide: He’s around

Me: Good, I’ll see tomorrow then.

Aramide: By God’s grace. Take care of yourself. Bye.

I got off the call with Aramide but Daniel was still on call with his Sewa. He later handled the phone over to me to describe to her how she’ll get to our hostel.

I put a call through to Janet and asked her to meet me so we can talk. I’m really curious about what she said we have to discuss and I hope it’s not what will jeopardize my journey with Funmi. She did come and we went to a remote place to talk. Only God knows what the matter is that is this serious. Here we go. . .

EPISODE TWENTY-EIGHT MFYL

I put a call through to Janet and asked her to meet me so we can talk. I’m really curious about what she said we have to discuss and I hope it’s not what will jeopardize my journey with Funmi. She did come and we went to a remote place to talk. Only God knows what the matter is that is this serious. Here we go. . .

Me: Thanks for the calls Janet, I really . . .

Janet: You are welcome sweetheart. How is mum?

Me: (She just called me sweetheart, well that’s not new but she also called my mother mum, that’s new) She’s fine thanks. You said we have serious issue to discuss, hope all is well?

Janet: We are fine Will, I’m just happy to see you.

Me: I’m happy to see you too, but how do you mean we are fine?

Janet: (Smiles) Firstly I want to apologize to you for not being truthful and open.

Me: (Okay, the matter has started) Hmm, so you never love me, you were just playing with my brain (I was praying she’ll say “No, I never love you”)

Janet: Far from that. I love you so much, and I still do.

Me: (Oh God, why now. Don’t love me, ah!) So why are you sorry?

Janet: I never told you I was in a serious relationship. I have a fiancée

Me: (That’s a little relief) At last Janet. Why are you just admitting it now?

Janet: It wasn’t easy for me Will. I really love you and my fiancée was always giving me reason to love you more, by breaking our communication and you were always in reach. Imagine we only spoke once throughout last month. As much as I love him, I felt I’m losing him so I had to protect myself. That’s why I sound so desperate. It’s because I didn’t want to lose at both ends and it’s the reason I told you no that time.

Me: I think I understand now. I’m sorry about your relationship but it could be he’s always busy.

Janet: Yes, that’s always the excuse, but I got tired of it last two weeks and broke up with him and then he suddenly find time to call me every day.

Me: Hmm, why don’t you forgive him (I have to push that line so she can let me be)

Janet: Do I have option, when almost all his family members were begging me.

Me: (It’s turning to good news gradually) His whole family?

Janet: Close to that. At least I receive his mum’s call every day now.

Me: Oh! It’s good the mother like you

Janet: Yes, I love that fact too. We’ll be having our introduction next month, he’s coming home

Me: (Finally brethren, a good news) Wao! That’s cool. Congratulations (In my heart I am dancing and singing thank you Lord, “mobo”)

Janet: Thanks Will. I’m sorry about how I’ve always been to you. I really do like you and wish I can be your woman. Sometimes I wish I could have it all

Me: (If this is a dream, nobody should dare wake me up) I like you too Jane. I really do, but I hate to snatch somebody’s babe.

Janet: Can we still be good friends with no strings attached?

Me: (All strings thrown into the ocean with the Egyptians) Are you asking that? I’m going to be at your wedding dancing like a crazy dude

Janet: (We both laughed) Thanks Will, you are a nice guy

Me: Noooo, I’m not nice. I preferred to be call good and cool.

Janet: Funny. You are a good guy

Me: Perfect if you add cool to it. So how do we celebrate your introduction?

That was how I got saved from Janet’s claw, at least according to her words. The beauty of the whole situation was that we were both happy at the end. She got her man fully back and I got Funmi. Wait! I mean I got to woo Funmi alone and I’m going to do that tomorrow before I go to Aramide’s side. I better get my girl before they turn my mood upside down.

The funny thing is I really don’t understand what’s going on, neither do I really believe Janet. It looks more like a script play than realty to me. How can somebody who was on my neck last two weeks, if not for exams, suddenly change in a dramatic fashion like this. Until I see her introduction pictures, I’m going to be careful of her. Truth is the situation is a little scary to me. Adding the misery that she held my hand from our conversation spot down to her lodge where she gave me a romantic hug, capping it with a kiss or you say peck but very close to my mouth. I have reason to be scared.

I got home to meet Adesewa who was already in our room. Sometimes it’s funny how you’ll be in the same school and level with somebody and you’ve never sighted each other before, for 5years. If I had seen Sewa before, then the picture has obviously been erased from my data bank. She’s tall and beautiful, almost of the same height as Dan. Her smile keeps creating bubbles of love all around the room. She reminded me of no other person than Funmi. How was I really distracted from Funmi? She’s cool, down to earth, not proud and obviously got something for a financially average guy in me. What the hell is wrong with me? If I lose this lady, I might regret it every day.

I got lost in this thought and didn’t even know my phone was ringing. It was like I’m daydreaming.

Temmy: (Shouted on top of his voice) William what’s wrong with you? Can’t you hear your phone ringing?

Me: (Back to consciousness. I checked the phone and it’s Funmi, but the call was missed before I could pick it.) I sincerely do not hear it ring.

Temmy: What happened where you went to? Hope all is well?

Me: All is mysteriously well or should I say mythically well.

Temmy: Hmm, I guess we’ll talk later

Me: Sure bro. Hello guys, is this my in-law to be? (Facing Adesewa)

Dan: Janet, meet my brother. We were born the same day

Sewa: You were the one speaking to me on phone right?

Me: They just told me I’m the one, I myself did not know (We all laughed). How are you doing?

Sewa: I’m great. Thanks for the call. If not for you I wouldn’t have picked his call.

Me: The pleasure is mine and I could see why Dan can’t get his mind off you. I bow for your royal beauty, your majesty (I bend my head down in Korean style)

Sewa: (Smiling) Thanks a lot.

Me: Don’t give my brother the silent treatment again o, you nearly kill him. We are almost going to hire search party, just to locate you.

Sewa: Don’t mind him. He knew what he did and how he can resolve it but was forming hard.

Dan: Common baby, I did but you still were not picking up

Sewa: Leave me jor (She used her hand to cover his mouth)

Me: Well you now have somebody you can report his head to. Tell me he did rubbish and I’ll kick butt

We all laughed and continue chatting till my phone rang again from the same person and I excused my self

Me: Hello Funmi

Funmi: Why are you not picking my calls, was it because I did not pick earlier.

Me: No, I wanted to pick it but. . .

Funmi: I wasn’t with my phone that time and you didn’t even bother to try again

Me: Funmi you are angry

Funmi: Yes I am very angry

Me: Cool down. I’m sorry okay

Funmi: When are you coming to my side?

Me: Tomorrow morning

Funmi: Too far, too late

Me: It’s already late. I can’t make it back on time if I come this evening.

Funmi: You’ll go back with my car

Me: What if I give you the whole of tomorrow.

Funmi: Whole of tomorrow?

Me: Yeah, we’ll be together throughout. I want you to follow me somewhere

Funmi: I’ll agree on one condition

Me: Which is?

Funmi: That you’ll have breakfast here, before 9am.

Me: Done!

Funmi: Good bye.

The way she put her words can only make you love her more. I rose up earlier the following morning, had my bath and set to leave. Dan offered I go with his jeep but I declined because her babe might see it and make funny comments to her friends like, “that’s my boyfriend’s car he’s riding”. I don’t trust lady in that regard, because I don’t think they see it as wrong. I received a call from Aramide that morning before I stepped out.

Aramide: Hi Will

Me: Good morning. How are you?

Aramide: I’m fine and you?

Me: I’m good, what’s up?

Aramide: I’ll send the description to you now. You can come later in the evening. There is somebody I want you to meet.

Me: Who is the person?

Aramide: When you come, you’ll know the person

Me: I’ve been getting a lot of that of recent but I’m not sure I want to go through it again.

Aramide: Common Will, it’s somebody you’ll love to meet. I promise you won’t regret it

Me: It’s not about regret; it’s about how it will affect me

Aramide: Don’t worry will. Just come

Me: Give me a specific time

Aramide: 4pm would be okay

Me: Alright, can I come with somebody?

Aramide: Who are you coming with, Funmi? I’ll prefer you come with her.

Me: (Is this girl a witch, how can she guess?) There is something between you and Funmi. Anyway see you in the evening.

I got off the call with her and headed to Funmi’s place. Entering through their gate I met with the devil and it was then I remembered my prayer that morning was too short. I tried avoiding her but you know devil will always be devil.

Uche: Will, here you are.

Me: Uche Uche, how are you?

Uche: Don’t Uche me. You promised you’ll come for the party but you did not show up.

Me: And I can’t remember receiving your call asking me why. Anyway, I was there in spirit. If you were in spirit you would have seen me.

Uche: Who asked for your spirit to come? You really offend and it’s not good.

Me: Don’t be offended, I had to travel that day. It was urgent

Uche: So how will you make it up to me?

Me: I’ve said I’m sorry now.

Uche: I know but you have to make it up to me

Me: (I check the term and it’s few minutes to 9am. Damn! Why must it always be Uche whenever I want to do something like this?) Okay what do you want?

Uche: There is a party in my lodge today. It’s organized for the final year students of my hostel. Come to the party and I won’t be angry again.

Me: When is the party?

Uche: 10pm till mama calls

Me: Night party? I went to a day party and I was “planked”, now you want me to go to a night party? Choose another thing.

Uche: It will be fun. Everybody in this hostel is coming

Me: What’s my own with that?

Uche: Including your rich friend you are visiting.

Me: What’s your own about who I come to visit?

Uche: Will you are a bad boy! You have Janet and you are still coming here to meet another babe

Me: Who told you I’m dating Janet. You better go and do your homework. Aproko.

Uche: I will be expecting you o.

Me: You better choose another thing because no supervisor can force me down this time around.

Uche: You will see. I’ll make sure you come and by the way, you might really need a plank or receive one this morning because your rich girlfriend’s boyfriend slept over and he’s still there.

Me: Uche bye. What’s your concern?

Uche: Bring wine o

I left her there before she’ll spoil my mood. I knocked at Funmi’s door and nobody answered. I felt the music being played so loudly was the reason why she could not hear my knock. Come to think of it, loud music is unlike Funmi, she’s the quiet type. Something is definitely not right. I banged the door again and an angry male voice responded from the inside. He lowered the music and opened the door. Lo and behold, it’s that new guy she was following around.

Guy: Good morning, please come in.

Me: (How come he change his tone and expression seeing me) Please where is Funmi?

Guy: She’s in the bathroom

Me: Please tell her I come by. Thank you.

I left the place before the guy could make any comment
