@ Ilish,
Your FTA Bouquet is quite impressive. For the benefit of other members, pls include satellite names, frequencies and such other details to enable quik tracking.
But I thought SABC is now scrammbled?

Visit eutelsat w7/w4 on lyngsat for the freq of those channels ,also note that u are required to attain a maximum signal quality b4 they wld pop up, one other way is to blind scan. good day
Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by chuk101(m): 11:40am On Jun 08, 2010
Ntv kenya and other kenyan channels on w4 are in mpeg 4 dvb s2 , while ntv uganda and others are in mpeg2 dvb s1, u need an mpeg 4 reciever for maximum viewing.
Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by jaki006: 11:56am On Jun 08, 2010
@ chucks what is d difference btw dvb s1 and dvb s2 and how will i change from one to the other

Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by blexxonmak(m): 2:13pm On Jun 08, 2010
@seunoluomo. Do you really need MY TV package to watch the world cup?? All you need is a 90cm pan dish and 4669x receiver. Align your dish for reception from EW7A or ASTRA 2ABD or EUTELSAT W4/W7 and you are good to go. 90cm pan dish=N3,500; 4669x=N15,500; 4910 is between 45k and 49k. Fabrication of a polar mount is quite simple if you really know what to do. A picture of a locally fabricated polar mount was posted by one of our members in part 1 of this thread. I cannot seem to find the link. Try and see if you can find the page. Take the mount ring and the picture of the polar mount to an experienced welder. He should be able to know what to do. Otherwise,you may seek the help of an expert.
Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by jaki006: 2:21pm On Jun 08, 2010
well fifa has said that all right owners must broadcast the opening match and the finals 4 free
which means supersport 3N must be FTA on those two days.
Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by blexxonmak(m): 2:52pm On Jun 08, 2010
@jaki006. Check this page for an answer to your question: www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-331817.4672.html. To convert from dvb-s to dvb-s2 get yourself an MPEG-4 receiver,eg 4669x,etc

@seunoluomo
90cm(not the 85cm they sell as 90cm)dish is 2500,'69x is 15,300 at the satelite shop directly at d frontage of alaba market(uba axis)
'69x is still going to drop lesser than that with time
Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by GeorgeD1(m): 9:22am On Jun 09, 2010
@seunoluomo,
You won't enjoy the world cup by installing MYTV pakage as they have no rights to broadcast any of the worlk cup matches.

BTW, without meaning to be discouraging, mytv is not yet known to be a force to be reckoned with in terms of sports channels.
Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by seunoluomo(m): 9:55am On Jun 09, 2010
@ George D
i am not installing MYTV i only want to compare the price of their full package and getting only 69x.

Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by GeorgeD1(m): 10:28am On Jun 09, 2010

Happy birthday George D
Re: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by GeorgeD1(m): 10:35am On Jun 09, 2010
chris,
It depends on which is most important to you in a reciever: the blindscan feature or an HD capability. If it is blindscan then go for 4669X but if you need HD more, go for daarbox.

As for the ease in putting tp in daarbox, I think there is no problem with that if you know how to use lyngsat.com.
