Yewande was a coach when waldrum invited her she wasn't playing active football , she just gatecrashed the team because of visa problems and then waldrum turned her to a 3rd choice overnight. Whatever emotional balance yewande bring to the team onome is more than capable she has over 20 years experience in international football

You based your submission on the BS Olajire spewed. You didn't even bother to do a check yourself. Randy's account obviously is more accurate.

Yewande joined the super falcons in 2021 not as a goalkeeper's trainer. She received an invitation for a friendly and has since then been a part of almost every training camp, friendlies etc. Prior to her invitation, she was a coach (which was what Olajire used in a bid to save face) but never one for Nigeria. Again, you can check, these things are a matter of public records.

The bolded is very funny, using her lack of game time to justify her exclusion. Everyone knows world over that backup goalkeepers rarely get to have feature in games, talk less a third choice. Question, how many times has Oluehi featured in 2 years? The few times she did was when Chiamaka was injured and it's less than 5 caps. So what exactly is your point?

Coaches pick back up players for several reasons, part of which is to provide healthy competition for the team, to have capable backups in case of injuries and sometimes the pick players that help the emotional stability of the team. Yewande helps bring that. Asisat calls her "Aunty Mi", it's shows the maturity she brings to the team and the respect she commands amongst her colleagues.

As per personal sacrifice, listen to the podcast and you'll hear Randy talk about it. She literally quit her job and went pro again for this opportunity. Again, bid that were you will you be comfortable with someone else replacing you not on merit but to fill a quota?

I obviously mentioned the coach part so that's by the way. Do you know what gatecrash is? Someone who received an official invitation from the NFF and has for over 2 years is the one who gatecrashed "overnight"? The one who the coach has no clue about and who has never been a part of the team is who should go to the world cup?

No point engaging again cause now you're just being unreasonable.

Yeah you leave out the part where a non active player became our third choice overnight and i wasn't talking about the world cup squad i was talking about the squad that went to USA for friendly few years ago

But she's obviously not the only one in that "gatecrash" category if we are to go with this line if reasoning. Michelle Alozie and Esther Okoronkwo"s were also afterthoughts as they also weren't in the initial plan.

Alozie was in tryouts at Houston Dash at the time. Somewhat like a precontract. Not sure what Esther's status was at the time, but compared to Yewande they paled. And it's funny cause you're making it sound like Yewande isn't a professional. She's more of a professional than most on the team, and to show it, she got signed almost immediately she chose to come back.

Alozie and esther are young you can't compare them to yewande who is like a unofficial retired footballer to me she saw the road to world cup and came back again , if a home base coach did what waldrum is doing you will all eat him alive

In actuality, the 2 supposed 'gatecrashers 'to the Falcons camp in Houston for the Summer Series in 2021 were:

1. Esther Okoronkwo, who had just finished at Lamar University, Houston in May 2021 and
2. Michelle Alozie, who, like you stated, was in tryouts with the Houston Dash and had no professional contract with them.

Yewande Balogun, as Randy verbally confirmed, was contacted by him to join the team after he became aware of her Nigerian background. At the time, she was under contract as a goalkeeper coach for University of California, Davis. Randy also reached out to Iffy Onumonu and convinced her to switch nationalities.

I know you tend to be very race conscious, that's why you like doing damage control for these guys.

I believe we have enough qualified Nigerians who can manage our football excellently. However most of the guys at the NFF currently are clueless people that are there because of politics. They are deficient both in character and expertise. Don't you see what Eto'o is doing with FECAFOOT. When the right people are in control, it will be obvious.

Well, wrong example then.

I haven't been following him lately. I liked how he started although he was too autocratic for me. The Moroccan FA is another good example.

What does race have to do with disrespecting your staff members publicly? So a player can't talk about their coach but the same coach can talk sideways about their staff? Make it make sense.

Too little, too late!
Strange that Okobi's 'fake news' rebuttal to her alleged rant on Waldrum is only coming out now, when this has been circulating in the news for over a year (before WAFCON).
Yet, she intentionally opted not to address it then.

Its seems your MAIN bone of contention with Waldrum's comments are his supposed (in your words, paraphrased or otherwise) 'disrespect' for his coaching staff. Which means you are in consonance with everything else he stated!

So which one, of Waldrum's CURRENT Nigerian coaching staff, would you state as being the most competent enough to lead and COACH the team?
Is it Ann Chiejine, who has been an assistant coach with the Super Falcons for close to 10 years, but keeps getting passed over for the head coach position when changes are made? If memory serves me right, she has been Asst. Coach under Omagbemi, Dennerby, Danjuma and now Waldrum. It's clear she is LEAD Nigerian coach currently attached to the team. Reading the tea leaves, its also clear the NFF has little confidence in her abilities to lead and/or coach the team.

Who else? Was Randy misrepresenting the truth about the limited capabilities of the Super Falcons staff?

If this is the case u all should apologise to Okobi because she was also telling her own truth.

Ann did a great job with a young Abia Angels this season. I watched her up close against Ibom Angels, she is a good coach and would probably do better than Randy Waldrum if given the opportunity.

We will never know now, would we? The NFF should be blamed for having little or no trust in Ann Chiejine capability and not giving her an ample chance. Again, absolutely NOTHING to do with Randy!

Also, based on Randy's judgement, having worked close with a Women's World cup and Olympic gold medal winning coach in his vast and expansive career, he is undoubtedly in the unique position to determine if a coach is capable or not and is spot on about a member of his coaching crew's ability, or lack thereof, to lead and coach a WWC team. Most importantly, its an EXTREMELY LONG walk from coaching a 'young Abia' team to coaching the Nigerian Super Falcons at a WWC!

Lastly, Randy, according to his contract, has the right to pick the team that he feels would prosecute his strategies best at the WWC.
He therefore decided to pick Jennifer Echegini (in place of the older Ngozi Okobi) and also decided to pick Debbie Abiodun (in place of Regina Otu) who he has seen and worked with up close since May 2023 in Pittsburgh, and can verify she is fit and ready for the WWC.

As one journalist (Fisayo Dairo) aptly and correctly stated in his piece, Ngozi Okobi has refused to read the writing on the wall.
Best of luck to her.

If we would never know why ask the question in the first place

U are talking about a lady that won medals with America when nobody cared about Women's football. How come the American federation has not offered her a job in the past decade? U mean she is such a good coach that not even a high school offered her a job? That's crazy.

I already proved u wrong about Debbie training under Waldrum. U ran away and acted like we were never talking. Now he said exactly what I told u in his interview so cut it out. There is no full training going on at Pittsburgh, the coach is not allowed to train his team yet, stop with this false narrative. Just like u are talking about Okobi not making the team when that has nothing to do with this particular conversation. U are just running all over the place. This is the real problem with Nigerian football. People going off of who they like or hate instead of right or wrong.

I don't have any favourite person when it comes to a Nigerian national team. I call everything down the middle. I don't think anyone here has been a bigger advocate for Deborah Abiodun but right is right and wrong is wrong. We both know u have been against most players coming out of Nigeria. U blamed them for the early performances and of course u will jump on Waldrum's excuse cos it aligns with ur narrative.

Common what are you saying? Waldrum didn’t turn her to 3rd choice overnight. She worked for it and earned it… She quit her Coaching job and came out of retirement immediately after that Summer Series, Went straight to sign for Coppermine United a USL team in the US before going Pro abroad..

So you think is only by being 40years that you can offer experience or support to the team.
