Indomie distribution van crashes into a popular food seller at Ileri Oluwa cresent,College road in Ifako Ijaiye local government area of Lagos state. www..net went to the scene of the accident shortly after the accident and an occupant of the house told us exclusively that the driver was battling with the brake of the car before he finally lost control.

No one was injured,the accident happened at about 11am on Tuesday. The driver spoke to our reporter that he lost control of the car before the van crashed into the food seller store that sells only beans.

Obamamania may have seized Kenya over the weekend, but for some, the frenzy will now be life-long. A batch of Kenyan newborn babies have been named in honour of the US President, his wife and even his presidential jet, AirForceOne.

According to Lucy Akinyi Okoth, one of the new mothers who spoke to reporters:

"I have decided to call my baby AirForceOne Barack Obama so that we can all remember Obama's visit to Kenya because it is a huge blessing,"

Another, Lucy Atieno, decided to simply call her boy AirForce One.

"I have been told that it is the best aeroplane because it carries a very powerful leader of
America who is also a Kenyan," she said.

The two Air Force Ones were among eight children born on Friday night at Kisumu Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Referral Hospital and named after Obama, said nurse Dolphin Akinyi.

"Yesterday from 8.30 pm we had eight deliveries and all the babies are in a very stable condition," she said.

Three girls also each got an Obama-related name. One was named Michelle after the first lady, another was called Malia, after the couple's eldest daughter, while a third was named Malia Sasha after the two Obama girls.

"I could not call my daughter any other name," said Wilkister Anyango, who took both Obama's daughters' names for her child.

So far there are no reports of children being named after Obama's armoured limousine, popularly known as "The Beast".

A police officer from the Okene division in Kogi state allegedly shot a man on his way to his motor mechanics workshop in the early hours of today Monday July 27th.

According to eye-witnesses, the victim was on his way to work when the policeman called him but he refused to stop. The policeman allegedly then fired three shots at him, hitting in the leg and other parts.

The police officer later said the mechanic had attempted to take his rifle from him but witnesses said this wasn't true as the man was a little far from the police when he was shot.

14 people lost their lives after a chlorine explosion at the Laminga water treatment plant in Jos Plateau state occurred yesterday July 25th.

According to reports, one of the gas cylinders leaked and diffused into the homes of people who lived in the area as they slept. 14 died while 114 are receiving treatment in four hospitals; the Jos University Teaching Hospital JUTH, Bingham University Teaching Hospital, Plateau Specialist and OLA Hospitals.

According to reports, the guy in handcuffs was caught hiding in the bush, somewhere around FO1 area in Kubwa Abuja, after robbing a woman they picked somewhere around airport road.

Nigeria`s Consul General in South Africa, Amb. Uche Ajulu-Okeke, says the country’s mission was in the process of discussing with the South African government to recognise a Nigerian identity card.

Ajulu-Okeke made this known in Johannesburg at the inauguration of the identity card by the Nigeria Union in South Africa.

She said the Consulate approved the identity card to identify Nigerian citizens in South Africa. "The Consulate is in the process of discussing with the government of South Africa to accord it recognition so that we reduce the incidents of loss of Nigerian passports.

All the information contained in the passport are in the identity card,“ she said. Okeke said she would meet officials of the South African government in early August to discuss the recognition of the identity card. According to the Consul General, the identity card will give Nigerians dignity and respect when they meet other nationals.

She, however, urged Nigerians not to abuse the identity card by engaging in illegal acts with it. Ajulu-Okeke also commended the Nigeria Union for initiating a monthly publication, The NaiRand, and urged the publishers to focus on stories about Nigerians in South Africa. The President of Nigeria Union, Mr Ikechukwu Anyene, said the identity card was approved by the Consulate General to identify Nigerians in that country.

He said the card had all the details in the Nigerian passport and would ensure easier identification. “ By the time the project is concluded, we will be able know how many we are and how our people are contributing to the economic and social development of South Africa. We call on Nigerians to embrace this card for easier identification,“ he said. Anyene also said that the monthly publication would be the mouth piece for Nigerians and project what they are doing to take Africa to the next level.

The recent report by the integrity-challenged website, Saharareporters and some other media that former Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has handed over a “dossier of corrupt deals” perpetrated by the Jonathan administration to President Buhari is completely false and without foundation. A woman named Cecilia, is currently battling an unknown ailment to defies all medical odds.

The last time she was able to spread her legs for sex was in 2011.

This was after her married boyfriend was arrested and sent to prison for 15 years.

According to reports reaching www..net , a Republic of Benin soldier named Corporal Chabi Séni stripped five girls naked and tied them to a tree after accusing them of stealing from their madam who owns a bar and who is his wife. A 4-man child trafficking syndicate allegedly led by a missionary pastor were paraded before newsmen in Bayelsa state today by officials of the state's Department of State Security Service after 36 children (12 boys, 24 girls) drawn from different parts of the country were found illegally in their custody. The children are mostly from Kaduna, Kebbi and Zamfara states.

They were allegedly taken from their parents in the guise of providing them with better living conditions and education but were turned into domestic workers. They were transported to states like Rivers, Enugu, Edo and Lagos where they serve as housemaids.

The leader of the syndicate who claims to be a missionary pastor denied using the children as domestic workers. He said he collects the children from their parents and hands them over to people who have "christian hearts" and will send them to school.

The only female arrested, Tonbra Alazigha, said she ran a charity organization where she caters for the needs of the children and allegedly sends them to school. Her claim was however refuted by one of the rescued children who said she worked at a farm in Bayelsa

"She tell me say she will put me in school. She register me but I use to go farm. I use to sell water for her. The person that brought me don't know about it" she said

One of the rescued boys confirmed that they worked in farms and sold water for the lady. The 36 children are now in the custody of the Bayelsa state DSS and will be handed over to officials of NAPTIP for further investigations.

Admissions processes into higher institutions in Nigeria will be rounded off on October 31, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Education, McJohn Nwaoibala, has said.

Mr. Nwaoibala gave the directive on Tuesday at the 2015 combined policy meeting, shortly after he pronounced the 2015 cut-off mark for admission into degree programmes, national certificate in education, national diploma and national innovation diplomas.

“We need to make hay while the sun shines. All admissions processes should be concluded on or before 31st of October 2015,”he said.

Mr. Nwaoibala said that the 150 and 180 cut-off marks were adopted by JAMB as the minimum score to degree and diploma awarding institution respectively.

He said the Federal government mandated the various institutions to strictly adhere to the 60:40 sciences to arts ratio, and the 70:30 technology to non-technology ratio.

He added that the states and privately owned tertiary institution should apply the criteria as approved by their authorities.

Meanwhile, the chairman governing board of JAMB, Peter Eze, said he is pleased with JAMB’s transition from the traditional paper and pencil test to the Computer Based Test.
He added that the mode of exams adopted in JAMB has changed the face of conduct of public exams in Nigeria.

“We can be counted as one of the top 10 in the world as far as conducting public exams is concerned,” he said.

Mr. Eze noted that the transition to CBT is a firm commitment by JAMB to ensure that the best practices in the mode of assessment in other for Nigerian youth to be attached with their counterpart all over the world.

"Was at Firstbank Udu road branch in Warri yesterday, when suddenly the bank bullion van and police escort was coming on high speed on a wrong lane. Is a double lane road but the bullion van was on the wrong lane with the police avoiding to go and turn a few meters from the bank. Suddenly a tipper that was coming opposite lost control because of the ruff driving of the bullion van, and the tipper trying to pave way for the bullion van lost control and crush an innocent girl's leg, damaging both legs. Youths from nowhere came and start throwing stones into the bank, before police came and start shooting into the air."

The girls injuries are horrific. But thank God she survived it. See the photos after the cut but please viewer's discretion is highly advised...

Sunday gone sour in Anambra capital, Awka after a tragic accident claimed about four lives this afternoon.

The fatal accident occurred after aloose trailer reportedly fell on a car carrying a family of six at Finotel Junction, Awka killing 4 on the spot including the parents.

May the souls of the departed rest in peace.

Nigerian-American singer Jidenna Theodore Mobisson says he had to bring in a lot of AK47s and employ military commandos when he came to Nigeria for his fathers burial. In an interview with music channel, VladTV, Jidenna said in Nigeria, light skinned people are more likely to be kidnapped than dark skinned people as they are seen as more valuable. Who is this guy again? Sure you're a classic man? Lol. With this kind of statement, people will think Nigeria is so bad. What he said below

"I have had a particular type of upbringing that is not the traditional. Whatever the traditional is for a light skinned mixed African American. I am Nigerian-American and more specifically I am Igbo American, Igbo being the ethnic group where I am from and that means you are in the South East of Nigeria.
You are way from the city so it means when you go to your village you are the only person or one of the few people that look like you. In my case, our family is light. Therefore when we go to our village, when I actually buried my father I had to bring in a lot of AK47, I had to employ military commandos because when you are light skinned, you are a heavier target for being kidnapped because you are seen as more valuable. You are seen as white therefore you have money.

You are American therefore you have more money. If you have more money then you are easy to kidnap and if you are easy to kidnap then we are going to get you. So for me being light-skinned in Nigeria, in our family, it was difficult. We have been hounded. We have been robbed. Our family has been assaulted. We have had a lot of issues. You can say these to a family that is dark skinned color. They may or may not have these experiences but for us we have always been the target but when you come to America, its the opposite. The police may look you over. They may not pull out the gun faster the way they would have done if you were darker"he said.

I write to you with a heavy heart. Social welfare generally is meant to remedy the ills of the society. Hence, it engages in different services such as; child welfare services including adoption, solving post/pre marital crisis, rehabilitation and reformation of delinquent & mal-adapted youths, Providing care, protection for the disabled, destitute etc but one would ordinary think that an agency that does this much for the society deserves a lot in return. But reverse is the case in Oyo state as it looks do not fit all any of these welfare functions."
