Supercows would still disgrace us even if their squad includes Ronaldinho.

I mean chibuzor okonkwo(Bayelsa united) , the guy that played left full back for SIA1'S olympic team, The guy that won the MVP in the glo premier league last year.

I am not one of those that make the mistake of thinking that once a player plays for a big club in europe he is automatically better than a home-based counterpart. Let them try chibuzor in an open friendly for us to appraise him. He is one of the players that held his own against the MESSIs and AGUEROs of this world during the olympics.

Besides when you have a right-footed player that can play left back well , it is a plus in a competition that might require some shuffles in the defence due to injury or cards to other members of the team.

Thanks for the explanation. . . . .

Thank you my broda.

In the WC proper he will definitely be a plus when we face less combative white defenders. All these jambodi African style na im dem use dey cheat papilo. His imagination and passing skills are still top class.

Kanu should throw in the towel for God's sake, that man is old, just tell me, do you expect opponents to watch him throw passes without marking him out?

Anytime he's marked out, he becomes so clueless and useless and he's got no stamina to fight off charging opponents, Kanu's good no doubt, but Football has changed and his pace and strength can no longer cope with the change.

Match winner ko, match loser ni. Kanu is so 2002. . . . . . . .The problem with Nigerian football fans and followers is that they're so blinded by the love they have for a player that they wouldn't recognize the truth when it stares them in the face.

3. A.Ejide

Defenders

4. T.Taiwo
5. E.Echeijele
6. O.Adefemi
7. C.Odiah(would have gone for chibuzor okonkwo but I don’t think he plays right back)
8. D.Shittu
9. O.Apam
10. D.Adeleye
11. J.Yobo

Midfielders

12. O.Mikelch
13. S.Kaita
14. Y.Ayilla
15. K.Uche
16. R.Ibrahim
17. C.Obodo(if unfit and out of form whoever impresses between Ajilore & haruna)

Strikers

18. O.Odemwingie
19. C.Obasi
20. O.Martin
21. I.Uche(if fit and in-form)
22. O.Nsofor(really struggled adding him to my squad cos of his unimpressive Afcon performances and way wayward shooting. That said he has some talent a better coach might be able to bring out)
23. This spot is up for grabs for whoever is fit, in-form and impressive in training. Yakubu, Eneramo and home-based have a last chance to convince me. In this spot I’m looking for a Heskey like player doesn’t have to be a goal king per se just big, strong and brings his team-mates into play

I would have added home based players but I havn’t seen them play but my spots in midfield are up for grabs particularly 15-17.

Ideal formation 4-3-3

Starting line-up against the argies

1.
Enyeama
2. 4. 5. 3.
Adefemi Shittu Apam Echeijele

8.
Kaita
6. 10.
Rabiu Mikel

7. 11.
Obasi Osaze

9.
Martins
Incase of Plan A failing switch to 4-4-2 with kaita being removed for a striker to partner martins

Yes, i still maintain my stand, he should join the technical crew, R. Ibrahim or Hukman should take his place.

Sanni Kaita should make any coach's list (Amodu or anyone they decides to get)

Yes o! Coach Semid4lyfe, the best coach never to coach the Super Eagles is in da house
Ol boy, been a coach is not easy o. I've been battling with this 24-man list for the past 30 minutes being that I''ve had to make some changes to my otherwise default list based on some recent happenings and things I now know.

I hereby present my new team list below(As at the End of our participation at Angola 2010). . . . 30/01/2010

Goalkeepers
Vincent Enyeama
Dele Aiyenugba
Chijike Ejiogu/Victor Brown. . . either of them will do. . . . no need taking a clubless Austin Ejide to the mundial. . . . have always believed he ain't good too

Defenders
Danny Shittu
Dele Adeleye
Onyekachi Apam
Joseph Yobo
Olubayo Adefemi
Chibuzor Okonkwo
Elderson Echiejile
Taiye Taiwo
*Addded Danny Shittu to the list. . . . it'd be a criminal offense not to take Danny Shittu to S.A 2010. He'll even be a regular starter in my team.

Midfielders
John Mikel Obi
Sanni Kaita (My battler General in Midfield). . . .  .replaces Dickson Etuhu in my team to SA 2010.
Femi Ajilore /Uche Kalu. . . . Uche Kalu may just lose his place in the team to Femi Ajilore.
Lukman Haruna
Rabiu Ibrahim
King Osanga
Abdul jeleel Ajagun
*Dickson Etuhu is dropped for Sanni kaita who walks right into my 1st 11 based on his Angola 2010 performance.
*No more automatic spot for Uche Kalu. . . .He shares a spot with Femi Ajilore. . . . .  I'm even leaning towards dropping him for Femi Ajilore who was a consistent performer in our matches at Beijing 2008.

Attackers
Ikechukwu Uche
Obafemi Martins
Chinedu Obasi Ogbuke
Osaze Odemwingie
Victor Obinna Nsofor
Micheal Eneramo
Standby Players
*Dickson Etuhu *Ike ThankGod *Joseph Akpala *Chidi Odiah *Obiorah Nwankwo *Kingsley Udoh *Fortune Chukwudi *Sanni Emannuel *Chrisantus Macauley *Ramon Azeez *Peter Utaka *Obot Etuk *Valentine Nwabili (A natural left footed midfielder with Enyimba). . . . . .  . .I'm thinking deeply about Valentine cos he could be our Ammuneke

Starting 11 and Formation against Argentina coming in my next post. . . . .
Re: Your Dream Super Eagles Squad For South Africa 2010 Worldcup. by semid4lyfe(m): 11:34pm On Jan 30, 2010
My Starting 11 and formation against Argentina

Enyeama-1

Adefemi-2 Apam-5 Shittu-6 Echiejile-3

Kaita-4

Odemwingie-7 Obasi-11

Haruna-10

IK Uche-8 Martins-9

Best form of defense is attack so I'll be playing a classic 4-4-2 formation against Argentina. . . . I''ll be very flexible in my formation. . . . . Haruna plays as my 10 and standing instructions to him will be to run with the ball and exploit any gapping hole in midfield, mobility is the key here. . . . 7 and 11 will definitely have their works cut out for them as they gats be swapping regularly and they'll also have to back-track constantly to help out their wing-backs. . . .In short they gats defend and attack. . . lol. Ike Uche could also swap roles once in a while with Obasi. . . . . . . Depending on how the game goes and the pressure or lack of pressure I could pull out one of the strikers and send in an additional midfielder in Ajilore/Mikel to shore up the midfield. . . . . I think thats it! grin

my brother shittu is not a player for technical dribblers like messi aguero and hinguin, besides adeleye and apam knows argentina players inside out. and never in your life put keita in nigeria best 11 the guy is totally rubbish he knows how to mark someone out of the game but he rest of him is useless the guy cannot even pass 10 yard pass he is just rubbish

Nor mind am. . . The billy goat did not see the pass to Yakubu that set up goal Number 2 against Mozambique and was too busy insulting Amodu with a bottle of beer in his hand to notice the passes in the game against Ghana.

In your team sheet, You are setting up Kaita and Haruna against Gago, Mascherano and perhaps Veron. I would like to believe Haruna would be quick enough to launch an attack because that is where Mikel is failing.

The revelation of this tourney is Sani Kaita! Apam has finally grown into the centre half we would like to see. Very quick and a good 'field n***a'. I have to disagree with putting Obasi and Odemwingie on the wings. They should be in a more mobile like the formation Sia1 put in the Olympic final where  his undoing was starting Isaac Promise.

My adjusted team would be the same save for Ajagun out for Josiah Maduabuchi and Osanga out for Etuhu
Re: Your Dream Super Eagles Squad For South Africa 2010 Worldcup. by semid4lyfe(m): 10:35am On Jan 31, 2010
Ow11,
Believe me, it wasn't easy coming up with that 23-man list. . . .and to select the starting 11 against Argentina was even more difficult. Let me give u a peep into my thought process.
*Osanga King- I know u're a follower of the local league so you'll agree with me Heartland's Osanga King is the perhaps the best natural wide-player(winger) in the domestic league. He's a specialist winger, some1 in the mold of Tijani Babangida & Finidi George. Now in the current S.E, we lack some1 like this as all those who play 7 & 11 for us are at best converted strikers. Osanga has played on the wings all his life. . . .U-17, U-21 & even for heartland and he's been superb. . . .he'll be bringing something which the strikers come wingers couldn't offer. . . .that's why I chose him. Josiah Maduabuchi is a WONDERFUL player and I like him very much. . . .although he started his Enyimba career on the right wing, he's been converted into a central attacking midfielder and he's now the fulcrum/launch pad of Enyimba's attack. . .Only reason I dropped him is becos I believe I've got that position locked down between Haruna, Ajilore, Rabiu Ibrahim & Nsofor. . .YES Nsofor. . .after all, Siasia played him as a 10 against Cotedevoire in Beijing 2008. I like Nsofor's  business-like approach to games and his forward 'always' mentality.

*On Etuhu. . .dropping him was very difficult but Kaita & Haruna/Mikel could play as 4. . . .hence my decision. Besides I've noticed Etuhu fizzles out easily in a match. Ajagun. . . .is a player for the future. . . .he played as a midfielder just in front of Ramon Azeez @ the last U-17 & I liked what I saw very much. . . .he marks, is very mobile & full of running and to top it all, he shoots very well too. . .in short, if he gets into shooting position, he could get a goal.
Anyway, I'm not completely averse to your changes to my 23-Man list. The player I very much want to take to the World cup is Ike ThankGod. . . Yobo has to stop making calamitous errors or he just might lose his place to him.

* On Osaze & Obasi against Argentina. . . .2 of them could play as strikers and I intend to keep the Argentine defence guessing and very busy. . . . . . . notice Ike Uche drifts to the wing a lot (eg vs France) so during a match, I could pass instructions to Ike Uche to drift to 7 for a while & push either of Osaze or Obasi to play upfront as strikers partnering Martins. . . .enough flexibility IMO. It's called making a substitution without actually making a substition.
Re: Your Dream Super Eagles Squad For South Africa 2010 Worldcup. by semid4lyfe(m): 11:07am On Jan 31, 2010
Shittu will also be my captain. . . .Anyone who watched Angola 2010 knows he's the chief field marshall, motivator and commandant on the field of play. He's not afraid to speak out, shout, issue instructions and treat the f.cuck up of any erring player. I also want a captain who'll have a bird's eye view of the entire team & match hence my choice of Shittu as captain. . . .He has & exhibits all the traits of a leader IMO. All the other players are too docile and timid. . . .Captaincy shouldn't be by seniority IMO.

Nice,u understand our players and i quite agree wt ur selections and formation. Bt wl disagree wt Osanga making d list coz frm wat i observed during d U20 WC,d guy is stil inexperience in dribbling past d left full bak bt he has pace and strenght just a player for d next nations cup.
Re: Your Dream Super Eagles Squad For South Africa 2010 Worldcup. by ow11(m): 2:33pm On Jan 31, 2010
Osanga is a winger and there is a serious dearth of 'headmasters' in the SE. I mean the two headers I saw in the CAN were awful (Shittu and Nsofor). Who would be at the end of those crosses?

It makes no sense taking a player whose abilities can't fit with the rest of the team. Maybe if Chrisantus can get his mojo before 2012, Osanga would be first on my list.

Is Rabiu Ibrahim a better midfielder than Josiah Maduabuchi?

semid4life God punish your papa, a useless player like sani keita revelation, you must be hausa that keita guy cannot pass, shoot or do anything else except mark. against ghana and zambia i wanted to slap him imagine the hausa idiot just shooting from anywhere without any sence. and i never said we should not take shittu, i said against argentina shittu should not play. he is not built for technical players infact where are all those fake fans, if i remember everybody was hailing adeleye just because of one bad performance against tunisia you want shittu to take his place. shittu is good against physical players. but sani keita should not even be in our third 11 we need a defensive midfilder that can tackle, shoot and pick some good passes and so far the only person for that job is obiora nwankwo

Difficult question. . . . On a skill & creativity level, it's hard to say who is better. International exposure to competitions (U-17 and U-21) and probably better training gives Rabiu the edge IMO. grin wink

I think Rabiu Ibrahim is a better midfielder, though he's small, but his small body should be a + to him just because he can easily slip away from his markers (just like messi % Aguero), you should also remember that Okocha is also a small body player and it worked for him.

I also think Rabiu is more skillful and can hold on to ball than Maduabuchi, the Maduabuchi i saw against Pillars is good but not better.

I can't understand why players like Nedum Onuoha and Stefano Okaka need to be begged to play for SE? They are no where near the national teams of their 2nd countries and surely at least Anichebe's silver medal should be an inspiration for them.

Okaka is the sort of target man we need in the SE if we would still play 4-5-1 in the world cup ( Given that Amodu remains coach). Even though he lacks goals, he can do a Heskey for I. Uche and Odemwingie to pounce.
