Guys,

1. Please I beg you in the name of God, exclude Taye Taiwo from your lists, replace with whoever you want to.

2. We need a playmaker, We have good strikers, somebody that can pick up a striker meters away, We cannot recall Okocha but We can utilize Rabiu Ibrahim with support from Mikel.

Mikel is more or less like Oliseh, only need to improve on his shots.
Re: Your Dream Super Eagles Squad For South Africa 2010 Worldcup. by sultan003(m): 4:36pm On Jan 19, 2010
Sultan's Team

    Goalkeepers
  1.   V. Enyeama
 12.  D. Aiyenugba
 23.  A. Ejide (selected because of his size and good positioning which enyeama lacks e.g ANGOLA 2010)

    DEFENDERS

 2  J. Yobo
 6  D. Shittu
 5  C. Ordiah
22 O. Adefemi
21 E. Echiejile
4   O. Apam
18  C. Okonkwo (second choice for leftback because i don't want tawio there he will cause havoc.).
19  D. Adeleye

   MIDFIELDERS

  10  Mikel Obi
  15  D.Etuhu
  20  Rabiu Ibrahim
  14  S. Olofinjana
  17  Uche Kalu
   3 Taye Tawio
  13  Yusuf Ayila

   FOWARDS

  7  Chinedu Obasi
 11 Osaze Odemwinge
  8  Ik Uche
  9. Martin Obafemi
 16  Nsofor Obinna

                                            Enyeama

                     ordiah       yobo       shittu      echiejile

                                                   etuhu
                                     mikel

                     osaze            nsofor                       obasi

                                          Ik Uche/Martins

        4-2-3-1

Nsofor has a free role in this team.  Obasi  and Osaze are required to swap roles and also track back to help the fullbacks, and it is very important that nsofor times his runs into the box perfectly. Etuhu is the destroyer in the midfield while mikel is the main distributor of balls (No backward or sideways pass.).

Subs

IK for Martins,  Rabiu for Nsofor

if the formation is changed to 4-4-2, then tawio comes in for obasi.

If, If, If, Guys whatever, my list would be like this.

Goal Keepers: Obasanjo, Atiku, Yar adua,

Defender: Dora Akinyuli, Aondoka, David Mark, INEC chairman,

Midfielders: Amodu (himself), NFF Chairman, Presidential task force and Goodluck Jonathan

Attackers: Chairman Nija supporter club, Jay Jay, Speaker house of Rep, Gbenga Daniel and Daniel Amokachi

Guess who would the Coach

Just kidding guys, I love Super Eagles passionately but my heart is broken. I do not like remembering tomorrow. Let our leaders form the eagles so that we can all rest from believing in them.

Well i love the team of Sultan003, but my problem is IK Uche, we should know that someone who has been off for such a long time due to injury can not be sharp and i don't think we will need that for the WC, But i know he is a fighter but we need to find someone who can fight as him and please nobody should call back Yakubu, Experience and pace for me is what we need for this WC, I love for Siasia to be our coach with Keshi, I think we their exposure and more they can bring back a good result, And did Amodu do any coaching course becos I ashamed of the school if he did or maybe he is just taht Typical Olodo they send to school to waste money lipsrsealed angry

Re: Your Dream Super Eagles Squad For South Africa 2010 Worldcup. by Hakeemval: 10:37pm On Jan 19, 2010
Well, giving the talents abound in Nigeria my SA 2010 World cup Squad is as follows:

Goalkeepers:
Vincent Enyeama
Dele Adenugba
Austin Ejide

Defenders:
Dele Adeleye
Ederson Echiejile
Joseph Yobo
Yusuf Muhammed
Taiye Taiwo
Onyekachi Apam
Chibuzor Okonkwo
Chidi Odiah

Midfielders:
Mikel John Obi
Yusuf Ayila
Kalu Uche
Rabiu Ibrahim
Dickson Etuhu

Attackers:
Osaze Odewengie
Obafemi Martins
Ike Uche
Victor Obinna Nsofor
Chinedu Ogbuke Obasi
Michael Eneramo

My first eleven is:

(Goalkepper) 1. A Eyeama
2. Yusuf Muhammed 5. Onyekach Apam 6 Dele Adeleye 3. E Echiejile

4. Yusuf Ayila 8.K Uche 10. Mikel Obi

7. C Obasi 9. O Martins 11. O Odewengie

Playing pattern is 4-3-3 formation that can easily be switch to our traditional 4-4-2.

Note:
Joseph Yobo is on the list based on his experince and leadership skill, but definitely not in my first eleven. I see SE defence better without Yobo.
Also Shittu is cospicously missing on my list, though I'm a big fan of this EPL heaviest defender but his weight will be disadvntageous at the world cup where we have d likes of Messi that Taiye Taiwo once described to be too smallish for a defender to handle.
Kanu is a wonderful player and his contributions to the National team will forever be remebered but unfortunately Africa most decorated player cant make my squad due to his fitness. This man is already tired as it's written all over his body, though he still has passion for the game but the body cant carry on anymore.
Yakubu is another great player with plenty experience but I still find it difficult to blend this guy to my team that is formed on the fulcrum of talents, hunger for glory, dedication, hardwork and a teamwork. So this man doesnt have a place in my team not minding his EPL rich record!
Seyi Olofinjana is another intelligent player I found very difficult to drop being a very good one-2-one ball winner but he immediately gives up same to opponents, so to me no work done. But if giving opportunity to make the list 23, definitely this Chemical Engr cum footbller will be my 23rd player.

Okonkwo, Ayila, Apam, Yobo and Echiejile give me confidence that I can build a solid defence line with these promising and utility players that can even swap positions if need be.

Reserves:
Ike Uche
Eneramo
Nsofor
Etuhu
Ibrahim
Odiah
Okonkwo
Yobo
Taiwo
Aiyenugba
Ejide

Coach: Hiddink
Asst Coach: Samson Siasia
Re: Your Dream Super Eagles Squad For South Africa 2010 Worldcup. by Crownvilla(m): 11:48pm On Jan 19, 2010
I'm no expert but the word on the street is that Victor Moses of Crystal Palace is the next midfield sensation. Hakeemval are you sure about Olofinjana? I really don't see what this guy brings to the squad, he has never impressed me. Thank God the other waste of space called Makinwa from Italy has been dropped!!!!! I wouldprefer Rabiu Ibrahim in midfield to Olofinjana anyday!!!!!
I think the main problem of Naija footy is that they don't play together, they are strangers on the pitch. We need total overhaul, starting from the Glasshouse. Odegbami as NFF boss, Siasia as Coach, Mastroudes to drum up corporate sponsorship/private sector investment to search for/motivate, nurture and develop new home grown talent.

My squad is simple and will be probably be the best.

Here they are:

Re: Your Dream Super Eagles Squad For South Africa 2010 Worldcup. by chyk91(m): 1:07am On Jan 20, 2010
i dont think i can pick a squad for the SE to the world cup cos i need plenty of friendlies to blend them(my players) together and add my new players to the team, but my players will be;

 GOAL KEEPERS

1) ENYEAMA
2) AYENUGBA
3) EJIOGU

   DEFENDERS
1) YOBO(RB/CB) in case of injury to any CB he can fill in.
2) OLUBAYO(RB)
3)ADELEYE(CB)
4)SHITTU(CB) normally wont av picked this guy but the game against benin showed me he could still be relevant and could even be good as a captain, he commands the players the way a captain should.
5) APAM(CB)
6)ECHIEJILE(LB) cant find any  other LB unfotunately.
7)OKONKWO(LB) i av not watched ogbonna so dont really think i can pick him.

  MIDFIELD
1)AYILA(DM)
2)ETUHU(DM)
3)MIKEL(CM)
4)LUKMAN(AM)
5)RABIU(AM)

Thats my team, depending on how the game goes i can switch to either 4mations, i really do not know many players in the local league thats y i didnt pick many of them, but as a coach i think i will av to watch them and get info abt new players from the press.

other player worthy of mention but not in my team are

goalkeepers: Aiyenugba, Ejide, Enyeama
Defenders: Yobo, Apam, Adeleye, Shittu, Odiah, Taiwo, Echiejile,
Midfielders: Ayila, Haruna Lukman, Rabiu Ibrahim, Mikel, Etuhu, Ajilore,
Forwards: Odemwingie, Ogbuke, S. Okoro, Martins, Eneramo, Nsofor, Ike Uche, Anichebe

plan A will be a 4-4-2 formation

Enyeama
Odiah Yobo Shittu Taiwo

Ogbuke/I. Uche Etuhu Mikel Odemwingie

Eneramo Martins

the strategy will be to use the pace and skills of our wingers to get the ball down the flanks and put in good crosses and occasionally dribble thier way into the box. that is also why i have picked Eneramo as he is our best arial threat. Martins is the quickest and an excellent finisher so he is in a the second striker, playin the role of link man between the midfield and strike. i've gone for Etuhu and Mikel in the middleb beacause these two are better passers of the ball than the other midfielders. Etuhu is more aggressive and starts in that role for fulham. Mikel should also be able to provide an aggressive prescence in the middle as well as make runs forward to support. should Etuhu fail in his duties or tire out, he will be replaced by yusuf ayila. should mikel fail or tire out he willbe replaced by ajilore. note that the full backs i have picked are very attack minded players

plan b is still 4 4 2 but with a diamond in midfield. the defense is unchanged but the midfield now looks like

Etuhu
Haruna/Ajilore Mikel
R. Ibrahim/ S.Okoro
Martins Odemwingie

the emphasis will be on keeping possession and overpowering the opposition midfield. the strikers must be intelligent and quick with the ability to find space for themselves and use the ball well on the ground. at the tip of the diamond i have gone for youth in either Okoro or Ibrahim either of which would do a good job of creating space with their nippy skills. however ibrahim would be preferred.

from the foregoing it appears all the line-ups being suggested (including the poster's) are not too far from what amodu has been fielding.
It looks like u guys are only confirming that he is doing his best with the squad he has.
I would have expected someone to come up with a fresh squad and perhaps with a few of the amodu boys to complete the team. now that would have been interesting, abi?
but then i guess u guys would not have the resources amodu had while picking his squad.

I would have expected someone to come up with a fresh squad and perhaps with a few of the amodu boys to complete the team. now that would have been interesting, abi?
but then i guess u guys would not have the resources amodu had while picking his squad.

Mine is partially different and i think what makes a good coach is how to make do with what you have and how to bring out the best in them. we are not seeing that best yet or maybe they just don't have it anymore?

Crownvilla:

I think the main problem of Naija footy is that they don't play together, they are strangers on the pitch. We need total overhaul, starting from the Glasshouse. Mastroudes to drum up corporate sponsorship/private sector investment to search for/motivate, nurture and develop new home grown talent.

I mean chibuzor okonkwo(Bayelsa united) , the guy that played left full back for SIA1'S olympic team, The guy that won the MVP in the glo premier league last year.

I am not one of those that make the mistake of thinking that once a player plays for a big club in europe he is automatically better than a home-based counterpart. Let them try chibuzor in an open friendly for us to appraise him. He is one of the players that held his own against the MESSIs and AGUEROs of this world during the olympics.

Besides when you have a right-footed player that can play left back well , it is a plus in a competition that might require some shuffles in the defence due to injury or cards to other members of the team.
