The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said that the 2018 Unified Tertiary University Examinations (UTME) candidates who could no longer access their results might have had their results withheld.

The Board’s Head of Media, Dr Fabian Benjamin disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Monday in Abuja.

NAN reports that some candidates had earlier cried foul, following the removal of their released results from the website of the Board, after initially accessing it.

The candidates complained that the site displayed, “You do not have any result yet” or “you did not write the examination,” after such results were earlier published.

According to Benjamin, the board may reschedule the examinations for some whose cases were exceptional but some results may have been withheld.

“Once you don’t see your result after a while it means it has been withheld.

“However, there are exceptions and the board intends to reschedule the examinations for those who fall in that category but they would be contacted before then,” he said.

He explained that the board was still working to release other results.

He also noted that the board would continually give an update to the general public on its latest developments as time goes on, especially if there are any changes in the system.

Benjamin also enjoined those who intend to change their choice of institutions before the 2018/19 admissions process begins, to visit the board’s site and follow the procedure as displayed.

He said the process had been ongoing and costs N2, 500 only and can only be processed online, just like every other process of the board.

Pastor Tunde Bakare has declared that God is preparing a messiah from the North who will possess the capacity to deliver Nigeria from its challenges.

The former running mate to President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2011 general elections said this during a sermon which was aired live on Channels Television yesterday.

“Let no one deceive you, there’s nobody with the capacity to deliver Nigeria until that day; that day is coming, it’s very near,” he said while addressing the congregation at his Latter Rain Assembly Church in Lagos.

“The reason things are going haywire in Nigeria today is because God is preparing the tender plant from the side of the North,” he said.

Pastor Bakare told his congregation that although he had been speaking about his presidential ambition in parables, they should watch out for direct statements ahead of the 2019 elections.

He maintained that he was not politicking about his ambition to become president but declaring what God has told him about his purpose in life.

“The reason we refused to compromise our lives and to diminish our values is so that nobody can diminish our influence. There’s only one assignment left for me. It’s not down, it’s up.

“I am declaring thus saith the Lord to this end was I born, for this purpose came I into the world that Nigeria will be saved, Nigeria will be changed, and Nigeria will become great in my lifetime. The mouth of the Lord has spoken it and the zeal of the Lord shall accomplish it,” Bakare added.

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State says his government is ready to take legal action if President Muhammadu Buhari refuses to seek re-election.

Mr. Ganduje also revealed he will seek a second term in 2019.

The governor said this in Abuja on Friday while addressing journalists on the controversy surrounding tenure extension in the All Progressives Congress.

“In Kano, people are saying four plus four, that is they are urging me to contest again.

“But I too feel that in order to continue with the good development that we have started, development requires some time, and the constitution has given four years and another four years in order to consolidate what one has started.

“I am convinced that I too will seek for second term and people are also urging me to do so. Eventually, it will be left to the people to decide whether I am qualified or not,” the governor was quoted by Nation as saying.

On why President Buhari must re-contest in 2019, the governor said: “APC governors want Mr. President to continue.

“I am happy that it is not the President that said he wants to continue, it is the people that are saying continue, but Mr. President has not made up his mind yet.

“Kano State Government will take him to court any time he decides not to contest. So we are waiting for him.

“In this country, we saw presidents who spent billions of Naira for third term. So what is the ruse about a constitutional second term?”

On the issue of tenure extension, he said he was not in support because that would affect the fortunes of the party and portray it as undemocratic since that contradicts the party constitution.

This explanation is coming few days to another National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the party, which is scheduled for Monday.

This NEC meeting would address the controversial tenure extension of party executives which the president kicked against in the last NEC meeting.

The party’s NEC had proposed a one year extension for party executives, as their tenure ends in June, less than a year to the election.

NEC had explained it wanted an extension of tenure to avoid congresses and the issues that follow congresses so it doesn’t keep the party from working towards the 2019 general election.

At the party’s NEC meeting on Monday, he said a committee would be put in place to conduct congresses to elect leaders at all levels with a time-table for congresses and convention of the party, which will bring in a new set of leaders at all levels.

“Yes, there was controversy on this, even though we were able to lay it to rest yesterday.

“But let me tell you the issues involved: those who are advocating for tenure elongation are advocating on the premise that when we hold congresses and convention, according to their own perception, there will be a lot of problems and that problem will linger into election period.

“Well, that is a perception. It could be that way, and it could be that some people wanted to retain power. Therefore, that reason is biased. However, I don’t belong to that school of thought,” he said.

He highlighted that the constitution of the party has made a provision for four years, and at the end of it, the party would have to hold congresses and convention.

“The constitution of Nigeria has also provided for that, so we have no reason whatsoever,” he said.

He said those saying there would be some problems should know that problems are part of ingredients of politics as there is no way one can practise democracy in a developing country without having some problems.

“There must be problems. There must be divergent views and disagreements. There will never be a time that things will be 100 per cent normal. So even if there is a problem, that is part of democracy, and we will be able to move forward.

“So, for those who thought they would be able to continue, we said no, and I think Mr. President finally hit the nail on the head by saying that he is not in favour of any tenure elongation.

“Tenure elongation is undemocratic. It may lead us to litigation, which will not be good for the party.

“We are happy that we have convinced the few governors who were for elongation, and on Monday, we hope to have our NEC meeting where the previous decision will be reversed, and by then, the timetable will be out for congresses at the ward level, congress at local government level, congress at the state level and finally convention at the national level.

“I think that is the situation, and I am happy to say that the chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum issued a statement, the chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum also issued a statement and the National Chairman of the party, John Oyegun, made a statement as well to say that all is well,” he said.

Veteran Nigerian actor, filmmaker, movie producer and director Adebayo Salami popularly known by his stage name “Oga Bello”, is said to have signed a production deal with Nigeria’s leading pay-TV Company, StarTime.

Though details of the deal have not been made public, it is believed to be a juicy deal worth millions of Naira and will see Oga Bello produce a 26-episode series in Yoruba language exclusively for StarTimes Nigeria.

When contacted for more details, the Chief Operating Officer of StarTimes, Mr. Tunde Aina, said the company would make more information available when the time is right but confirmed that they were in talks with Oga Bello on production.

According to sources, shooting have already commenced in Ibadan with some big names in the movie industry listed in the cast.

There was wild jubilation in Enugu on Thursday as 536 trainees of the second batch of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Skill Acquisition Programme of the Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi administration instantly received alert of N100,000 seed money each from the state government.

The money is to assist them start off their various businesses after attending a one-year free vocational training.

The 536 trainees were among the 750 participants chosen from the 17 Local Government Areas of the state and enrolled by the state government under its SDGs programme as an empowerment intervention scheme designed to alleviate the suffering of the people of the state through learning of a vocation that would enable each of them develop a career in life.

The first batch of 214 trainees, who had graduated after undergoing training in focal areas such as Tailoring, Hairdressing, Haircut and Aluminum works apprenticeship, were settled in September 2017, accordingly.

Speaking during the graduation ceremony in Enugu, which was attended by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on SDGs, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, who was represented by her Sector Director, Pharm. Yahaya Hamza, the federal government commended Governor Ugwuanyi “for being SDGs friendly and creating enabling environment for achieving the SDGs goals”.

Mrs. Orelope-Adefulire, who emphasized the importance of skills acquisition in the country for “economically self-reliant”, diversification of the nation’s economy and encouragement of the youth to embrace self-employment, also thanked Gov. Ugwuanyi for the state’s contributions and untiring efforts towards the success of the programme as well as “this unique collaboration aimed at accelerating the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in Enugu State and Nigeria”.

She, therefore, announced that “approval has been granted to Enugu State for continuation of the skill acquisition programme to consolidate the success achieved by the Federal and Enugu State governments through the initiative” and called on other states to emulate Gov. Ugwuanyi towards the realization of the SDGs goals for the overall benefit of the masses.

“I also want to encourage other states to borrow a leaf from Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi by ensuring that their plans and projects are targeted towards achieving the goals of SDGs so that our 2030 Agenda will be realized as a nation”, the SSA to the President said.

In his address, Gov. Ugwuanyi, while congratulating the graduands on their achievement, stated that the scheme was “undoubtedly a very important and timely intervention that is helping to create wealth, reduce unemployment and stimulate productivity especially among our youths and women”.

The governor added that the scheme was a “welcome complement” to the efforts and initiatives of his administration in the area of youth/women empowerment, skills acquisition and poverty alleviation, stressing that it was also in furtherance of the progress recorded in other state’s empowerment programmes such as Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), the Enugu State Youth Enterprise Support Scheme (ENU-YESS), among others.

Gov. Ugwuanyi expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for its continued support to the implementation of the SDGs in the state, and pledged the “continued cooperation and full commitment” of his administration to the success of the programme as well as other collaborations between the state and federal government designed for the benefit and empowerment of the people.

“I use this occasion to reassure the good people of Enugu State that we remain fully committed to our promise to reduce poverty in the state and will continue to do all that is necessary to promote the empowerment and economic emancipation of our youths, women and families”, Gov. Ugwuanyi said.

Earlier in her welcome address, the Special Adviser to the Governor on SDGs and Inter-Ministerial Affairs, Hon. Mabel Agbo, noted that the empowerment programme was part of the four-point agenda of the state government, explaining that “what we are doing today does not only create employment, but helps to reduce crime and other social vices by keeping the individual meaningfully engaged in an economically productive venture”.

Hon. Agbo maintained that she was satisfied with the level of proficiency acquired by the graduands, adding that a good number of them were able to demonstrate that they have acquired the capacity to compete favourably in any environment.

She disclosed that many of the first batch graduands “have been able to set up viable barber’s and hair dressing shops and are now Chief Executive Officer of their own businesses”, and encourage the newly graduated trainees to be dedicated, productive and utilize the seed money to actualize their potentials in keeping with the set objectives of the scheme.

“To the graduands, I want to say congratulations for acquiring new skills and knowledge. We have basically armed you with the tools to succeed in life. In the last one year, you went through the rudiments of a profession you chose.

“We have no doubt that you are now better equipped and prepared to face the world, and in a better frame of mind too. I encourage you to hit the road running because anytime lost cannot be regained”, Agbo advised.

Other dignitaries at the event, which was electrified with uncontrollable jubilation the moment the graduands started receiving alerts of the seed money on their phones, were the state’s Deputy Governor, Hon. About 7000 thousand members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Yobe State have dumped the party for the All Progressive Congress, APC.

The defection happened on Monday in Potiskum Local Government Area of the state.

The defectors said the resolution to join the APC was due to months of intractable divisions, crisis and lack of direction bedevilling the PDP.

Their leader, Alhaji Saleh Jauro, told reporters that the PDP was divided against itself with irreconcilable differences as the two factions in the PDP chapter of the Local Government had threatened to field parallel candidates to contest 2019 general election.

Alhaji Ibrahim Bomai, a chieftain of the APC, who facilitated their defection, said the ruling party was willing to accommodate more people that would work for its success in zone B and Yobe state at large.

“APC is very happy that you have now realized the truth and renounced your membership of the PDP by transferring your loyalty to the APC. I assure you that your coming is an indication and testimony to the good things Governor Gaidam has been doing to the people of Yobe State,” he said.

Receiving the defectors, the state chairman of All Progressive Congress, Alhaji Adamu Chilariye, said, “APC has been waxing stronger and has become more united. More people will soon join the party and we will collectively work to ensure its success at all levels during the forthcoming general election.”

A thirty-year old woman, Nunu Allround has allegedly slit the throat of her thirty-two-year-old lover, Obagie Ikede for seeking to end their three-month-old relationship at Amukpe Area in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.

The victim is said to be currently battling with his life at an undisclosed private hospital in Sapele.

MC EBISCO learnt that Nunu and Obagie have been dating for the past three months.

Trouble started weeks ago when Obagie decided to end the relationship as a result of Nunu’s constant nagging attitude.

In a bid to get Obagie to rescind his decision to end the relationship, Nunu got angry insisting that she was still interested in the relationship.

It was learnt that Nunu allegedly slit her lover’s throat with a sharp razor blade at night when he went to confront her in a friend’s house that she was planing to attack his new girlfriend.

Prior to this time, it was gathered that Nunu has been very aggressive each time she visits Obagie and sees another girl in his apartment. In some instances, she would shout or threaten to maim the girl and her boyfriend, Obagie.

A police source within the area said the matter has not been reported to them.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibadan zonal office, Oyo State, on Thursday said a female herbalist had been arrested by its operatives for falsely obtaining N45m from a victim under the pretext of offering herbal and spiritual healing.
According to sources, a statement from the EFCC Head of Public Affairs in the zone, Ayo Oyewole, said the female herbalist suspect, Aminat Okiribiti, 34, committed the crime with two other accomplices at large, one of who is said to be her husband.
The statement said, “Aminat (Okiribiti) was arrested for an alleged case of conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretences. In a rehash of the old infamous advance fee fraud tactic of spiritual help and solution to all problems, a victim recounted her ordeal in the hands of a syndicate to our operatives, signalling a warning to the public.

“Aminat, alongside other three cohorts still at large, conspired, using the decoy of providing cure and spiritual solution to the health challenges of the victim’s children and fleeced her of the sum of N45m.

“Aminat, who is married to one Wande Okiribiti, 47, who is still at large, confessed that some of the money obtained from the victim was collected through her (Aminat’s) bank account domiciled in one of the new generation banks located in Ibadan.”
The statement said Aminat and the victim met sometime in October 2014, at Utako, Abuja, adding that the suspect would be charged to court at the end of investigation.

His Grace, Most Rev. Dr. Alfred Adewale Martins, the Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, has described the two-day working visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to Lagos as “ill-timed.”

In a release signed by Msgr. Gabriel Osu, the Director of Social Communications, Archbishop Martins wondered why Mr. President chose to make the visit to Lagos at a time that coincided with the most important days of the year for Christians when they celebrate the events of the salvation of the world.
Dr. Martins noted that the large population and clustered road networks in the state, the closure of roads coupled with the ban of tricycles on many routes, would subject Christians to untold hardship while taking part in the Holy Thursday and Good Friday celebrations would be subjected to untold hardships.
In addition, Christians who would also like to welcome their President have been put in a difficult situation of deciding whether to fulfill their religious obligations or go out to welcome the President.
“The timing does not take into consideration Christians in government and security services who would be required to be at work to ensure a smooth, secure and safe visit of the President.
“It is really unfortunate that the timing of the visit would create such hardships for people and deprive some of their right to worship and take part in the most important feast of their faith,” he stated.
Acknowledging that the President, as the father of the nation, has the right to visit any part of the country as he deems fit in the course of his work, Archbishop Martins said the timing of such visits should be sensitive to the situation of people especially when it involves the fulfillment of the religious obligations which their faith requires of them.
While conceding that this scheduled visit might not be altered now as it was rather close, he expressed the hope that more consideration would be put in place when planning for similar visits in the future.
He further said that: “We hope that those who plan such visits that are likely to disrupt the normal flow of the life of people would be sensitive enough especially when they affect the right of people to practise their faith and worship as they choose.
“I hope that the security agencies would be mindful of the fact that people would be going about fulfilling their religious obligations on Thursday and Friday, (the two days that the President would be in Lagos) and therefore not make things unduly difficult for them.”

According to the source, it was gathered that Governor Okorocha was furious that twenty lawmakers who had purportedly endorsed Mr. Nwosu for governor come 2019, turned round to deny the claim.

The source revealed that the exercise of recording the endorsements of the said 20 lawmakers will take place at a hotel, known as ‘Kelvic Suites’ located in New Owerri, behind New Concorde Hotel, by 10 am, Wednesday, March 28, 2018.

The hotel, said to be owned by the Deputy Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, who is also from the same Federal Constituency with Hon. Nwosu, has reportedly become a beehive of activities for mobilizing support for the governor’s son in-law.

It was further revealed that Governor Okorocha had threatened to deny any law maker who fails to endorse his son-in-law ticket to return to the House in 2019.

Hon. Henry Ezediaro, member of Imo State House of Assembly, last week, addressed the press, alleging that twenty law makers had endorsed the governorship ambition of Mr. Nwosu.

Highlighting more on the reasons for supporting Nwosu, Ezediaro said, “Uche Nwosu was the pioneer candidate of APC in 2014, the party endorsed him to run for governor, he has not changed since then.

Angered by Hon. Ezediaro’s revelation, the lawmakers, in a twist, accused him of telling lies against them, with some of them distancing and out rightly backing down on the said endorsement of Hon Uche Nwosu.

According to an Owerri based tabloid, some of the lawmakers who preferred to speak on condition of anonymity, for fear of victimization said, “We are surprised that one of us will go to tell the press that 20 of us who had a meeting at the Speaker’s residence endorsed Nwosu.

There is nothing like that. We enjoined him to make the agenda public than use our names to gain cheap scores from the governor and his son-in-law.

“If we wanted to tell the public about the endorsement of Uche Nwosu as the outcome of our meeting, the press would have been invited for briefing than allowing one of us to speak on our behalf.”

But the source disclosed that “Governor Okorocha’s insistence of foisting Nwosu on Imo people may not be unconnected with fear of prosecution over some of his administrative misdeeds, which may land attract lawsuits against him.”

Ezediaro had listed the following lawmakers to be in support of the endorsement: Ugonna Ozuruigbo representing (Nwangele) Luggard Osuji, former Majority leader (Owerri Municipal) Chukwuemeka Lloyd (Owerri North) Ekenna Nzerue (Oru East), Innocent Egwim (Ideato North), Obinna Egu (Ngor Okpala), Ngozi Obiefula (Isu) and Uju Onwudiwe (Njaba).

Others are Victor Onyewuchi (Owerri West), Uche Agabiga (Orsu), Emma Orie (Ohaji/Egbema), Ikechukwu Anwunka (Ideato South), Henry Ezediaro (Oguta), Roman Duruji (Ehime Mbano) and Marcel Odunze (Orlu).

According to Daddy Freeze, he is not impressed with Kiss Daniel for patronising a fake designer dress despite him and his children loving his music and personality. He wondered how he would feel if some pirates try to short-change him by selling adulterated copied of his album.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN), Festus Keyamo has advised Nigerians to first observe the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) till 2023 to see if they have truly repented and then first vote them into councillorship offices.

According to him, Nigerians cannot afford to bring the PDP back to power in 2019.

Keyamo stated these via his Twitter handle while reacting to the apology the PDP tendered to Nigerians for its misdeeds of the past.
The Party’s National Chairman, Uche Secondus, also appealed to Nigerians to vote the PDP back in 2019.

However, Keyamo tweeted: “PDP apology means that the party is like a patient that has undergone a major surgical operation to cure a disease. It can’t be discharged immediately. It must be under observation for a while. So 2019 is for just observation of PDP. Nigerians cannot afford to bring them back yet.

Nigeria’s Chairman of the Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts, Senator Shehu Sani has described former defence Minister, Lt. Gen. Theophilus Danjuma’s statement, as a clear indication that the nation was ‘tip toeing through a minefield’.

The lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial district spoke in reaction to the former defence Minister’s call on Nigerians “to defend themselves against herdsmen attacks”, across the country.

The former Minister in his speech at the maiden convocation ceremony of the Taraba State University on Saturday in Jalingo accused Nigeria military of complicity in killings by herders across the country.

Danjuma who was former Chief of staff insisted that indigenes of the affected areas should stop believing that the security forces will protect them.

In a post on his Facebook page, Sani urged Nigerians to spare the elder statesman of criticism, adding that Danjuma knew President Muhammadu Buhari more than any one else.

Miyonse, who spoke with News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday in Abuja said he has become the toast of various brands in the food industry as a “Brand Ambassador”.

Miyonse Oluwaseyi a.k.a Miyonse, former BBNaija 2017 contestant, says his participation in the show, has boosted his career as a Chef.

Miyonse, who spoke with News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday in Abuja said he has become the toast of various brands in the food industry as a “Brand Ambassador”.

He said: “The Big Brother Naija reality TV show has been a blessing generally; it has given me a platform to excel in my career. I was a chef before going into the house.

“Going into the house put me on a spotlight; it made people to know who Chef Miyonse is and after that, it opened more doors for me.

The former governor of Jigawa State and current presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sule Lamido, has said his Party was voted out of power in 2015 based on blackmail.

He, however, added that three years down the line, Nigeria had become a war zone because of the present government’s alleged incompetence.

Lamido stated this on Thursday in Lagos when he met with PDP chieftains in the state to inform them about his ambition to run for the presidency in 2019.

“In 2019, the coast is clear. There is no way APC will win. Look at the country, are we united? Are we stable? Are we prosperous? Are we secure? We’ve become a world embarrassment; we are becoming an ancient nation. So PDP will come back in 2019.

“There is no way, Buhari will ever come back no matter what he does, because he knows he is a contraption who rode on the notions of the Nigerian people based on blackmail, sentiment and hate speech,” he alleged.

The police in Lagos have arrested the owner of Collabor Hotel, an inn on Ige Street in the Iyana Ipaja area of the state, for allegedly hosting underage sex workers in the facility.

The owner of the hotel, John Okon, was apprehended along with the hotel manager, Emmanuel Thomas. Their alleged accomplice, Monica Ita, was said to be at large.

The operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad, acting on intelligence, busted the hotel on Saturday, March 10, 2018, and caught a 15-year-old primary school leaver allegedly engaging in prostitution.

The girl was said to have been brought from her village in the eastern part of the country by Ita a few weeks ago on the pretext that she (Ita) would get her a good job.

Our correspondent gathered that one Destiny Bassey, 19, and 18-year-old Bright Effiong, who was said to have been at the inn for three years, were also picked up by the operatives.

During a parade on Tuesday at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters in Ikeja, the hotel operators admitted to providing service for the sex workers, except the 15-year-old girl.

The hotel manager, Thomas, said, “It is true that we provide rooms for sex workers where men visit them. We collect N5,000 from them (the sex workers) every week. We don’t give them out to men; they bring their customers themselves.”

The 15-year-old that Ita persuaded her to come to Lagos when she (Ita) saw her playing around the village.

She said, “I finished from primary school two years ago, but I could not continue my study because my parents died. Aunty Monica (Ita) came to the village and asked me to follow her to Abuja. She said she would get me a good job.

“Some days after I got to Lagos, she took me to the hotel to do prostitution. I had yet to get a room when the police came to pick us.”

Bold and unabashed, Bassey, who gave her age as 25, said she slept with five men per day and collected N2,000 from each of her customers.

The Imo State indigene added that joblessness pushed her to the act.

She said, “Nobody forced me into prostitution. I have been hustling at the hotel for some years now. I send part of the money I make to my relatives in the village for the upkeep of my child. I don’t have parents and my husband is dead.

“I sleep with five men every day, so I make as much as N10,000. I pay the hotel N5,000 every week. I wanted to save enough money for my education.”

Effiong, an indigene of Calabar, Cross River State, also said she went to bed with five men daily, adding that some of her customers paid N1,000.

“I came to the hotel last year and paid N3,000 per week for a room. I did only one round with each customer,” she added.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, said the command swung into action following a tip-off that a syndicate was running a prostitution ring.

“A team of FSARS operatives stormed Collabor Hotel and arrested a 15-year-old girl. She confessed that she was brought to the hotel some weeks ago by one Monica Ita. The coordinators of the prostitution ring, Emmanuel Thomas and John Okon, were also arrested. The case will be charged to court at the completion of investigation,” the CP added.
