PoliticsOkorocha Can’t Stop My Governorship Ambition – Imo Deputy Governor by 3Ebisco(op): 8:17pm On Mar 19, 2018
Deputy Governor of Imo, Mr Eze Madumere, said he would pursue his governorship ambition to a logical conclusion in spite of opposition from the governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha.

In a statement by Mr Uche Onwuchekwa, his Media aide, Madumere said that no amount of opposition from the governor would make him to lose sight of the ambition.

He said “God is the giver of power and decider of destiny and no man born of a woman can stop my ambition.

“I think that from the wealth of my experience as a seasoned administrator both in public and private sectors, I am the most qualified to take Imo state to the next level.’’

Madumere, however, revealed that the “greatest opposition’’ to his ambition was from people he nurtured politically.

He said he was betrayed by people he brought into politics, but stressed that no level of betrayal or sabotage could stop him from the governorship race.

Okorocha had some weeks ago announced in the state that his son in-law and current Chief of Staff to him, Mr Uche Nwosu, would succeed him as governor in 2019.

Science/TechnologyUN Says Planet Earth Expanding, Lists Dangers by 3Ebisco(op): 1:49pm On Mar 19, 2018
The United Nations, UN, on Monday warned that as the global population expands and the planet warms up, demand for water is rising, while quality and reliable water supply is declining.

In the 2018 edition of the World Water Development Report, the UN said world should look to nature for better ways to maintain supplies of water, keep it clean, and protect people from droughts and floods.

The UN said one response is to invest more in protecting ecosystems that recycle water, such as wetlands and vegetation, and spend less on concrete flood barriers or wastewater treatment plants.

Audrey Azoulay, director-general of UNESCO, which coordinates the report, called for “new solutions” to tackle “emerging challenges to water security caused by population growth and climate change”.

“If we do nothing, some five billion people will be living in areas with poor access to water by 2050,” she said in a statement.

The chair of UN-Water, Gilbert Houngbo, stated in the report’s foreword that demand for water is expected to increase by nearly one-third by 2050.

To help manage competing demands for freshwater – whether to quench human thirst, water crops or produce electricity, UNESCO recommended “working with nature, rather than against it” in a bid to make water use more efficient, cost-effective and healthier for people and the environment.

“For too long, the world has turned first to human-built, or ‘grey’, infrastructure to improve water management,” wrote Houngbo.

“In so doing, it has often brushed aside traditional and indigenous knowledge that embraces greener approaches.”

UNESCO outlined the benefits of “nature-based solutions”, which use or mimic natural processes to increase water availability, improve its quality and reduce risks linked to water-related disasters and climate change.

Those solutions include: changing farming practices so the soil retains more moisture and nutrients, harvesting rainwater, re-charging aquifers, conserving wetlands that capture runoff and decontaminate water, restoring floodplains and turning rooftops into gardens.

UNESCO cited estimates that agricultural production could be increased by nearly 20 per cent worldwide if greener water management practices were used.

Editor-in-chief of the report, Richard Connor, said switching to a “conservation agriculture” model could bring high and rapid returns, but achieving it on a large scale would require political will at the national level.

“Agriculture internationally remains dominated by industrial (farming), and it can be a little more difficult to influence the private-sector interests that are involved,” he told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

He said some companies were adopting more sustainable practices, while consumers – mainly in Europe and North America – increasingly prefer organic, locally-grown food.

Inside cities, the challenge is to capture and filter more water using “green infrastructure” – from water retention ponds to wild spaces that double up for leisure activities.

And out of town, in the basins on which cities rely, water users like farmers need to cooperate with municipal authorities to ensure enough clean water for all.

UNESCO said New York, for example, has protected its three biggest watersheds since the late 1990s, resulting in an unfiltered water supply that brings savings of more than 300 million dollars per year on water treatment and maintenance costs.

Connor said “grey” infrastructure – such as piped water to slums, dams to control water flow on rivers, or concrete walls to keep out big storm surges and floods – would still be needed.

Yet while growing amounts are spent on green infrastructure and other nature-based solutions, evidence suggests they account for less than 1 percent of total investment in infrastructure to manage water resources, the report said.

Connor pointed to the extra advantages of using natural ways to manage water, including the potential to boost biodiversity, jobs, health and carbon storage.

“If you start to look at these co-benefits that often do not exist with grey infrastructure … it should tip the investment decisions towards more nature-based solutions,” he said.

5. When you pick your Bible to read, when you are praying or meditating and your phone rings, if you abandon the Bible reading and prayers to answer your phone

6. When your phone is very handy during prayer session or Bible studies so you can respond to comments on your post.

7. When the first thing you do when you wake up is Facebook and the last thing you do before you sleep is whatsapp.

8. When you misinterpret the Grace of God and believe that GRACE is licence to live in sin because Jesus already paid the price.

9. When you start seeing everything wrong with the church, the pastors, the Christians, the workers and you unilaterally abandon your duty post saying i am no longer a worker for God.

Health302,096 Tuberculosis Cases Undetected In Nigeria – FG by 3Ebisco(op): 8:35am On Mar 16, 2018
The National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control Programme (NTBLCP) has said that about 302, 096 out of 407, 000 cases of tuberculosis were undetected in Nigeria last year.

At a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday ahead of the 2017 World TB Day, National Coordinator of NTBLCP, Adebola Lawanson, said, “The 2017 WHO Global TB report revealed that Nigeria is among the ten countries that accounted for 64 percent of the global gap in TB case finding with India, Indonesia and Nigeria alone accounting for almost half the total gap.

“In 2017, Nigeria notified a total of 104, 904 TB cases which is 26 percent of the estimated 407, 000 TB cases for the country in the same year. This huge gap in TB case finding is much higher among children aged zero to 14 with a child proportion of seven percent for 2017.”

Against that backdrop, Lawanson, who was represented by Dr. Muhammad Ozi Ahmed, said that the Federal Ministry of Health had declared 2018 a year to accelerate finding and notification of TB cases amidst concern that Nigeria was among seven countries that accounted for 67 percent of the total global burden.

She said Nigeria’s declaration “aims at mobilising political commitment and resources from all levels of government and partners for the implementation of strategic TB case interventions for early TB case finding and prompt treatment.”

She, however, noted that “achieving the reduction in TB incidence rate for attainment of the 90-90-90 target of the END TB strategy will be a mirage, if something drastic is not done.”

PoliticsSERAP Seeks Suspension Of Cameroon From AU by 3Ebisco(op): 7:41am On Mar 12, 2018
Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has asked the African Union to suspend the rights of membership of Cameroon from the AU to put pressure on the government to end alleged torture and ill-treatment of 47 political activists forcibly returned to Cameroon by the Nigerian authorities. In the letter SERAP addressed to AU chairperson and President of Rwanda Paul Kagame it urged him to “urgently call an Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU) to address the matter with the aim to stop disappearances, politically motivated trials, and gross and systematic violations of citizens’ human rights in the country.”

The organisation also urged the AU to “maintain targeted travel sanctions and asset freezes against the authorities until they meet specific human rights and good governance benchmarks.” In letter dated 9 March 2018 and signed by SERAP deputy director Timothy Adewale the organization said: “Despite the massive violations of citizens’ human rights, and the continued absence of accountability in Cameroon, the AU has largely remained on the side-lines.

“Failure to act in the face of the gross and systematic violations by the authorities would seriously undermine the credibility of the AU and the legitimacy of its Constitutive Act, including its commitment to fight impunity as expressed in Articles 4(h) and (o) of the Act.” The organization said, “The AU Constitutive Act identifies respect for human rights, and the rule of law as universal values and requires all member states to promote and adhere to them. “By taking punitive action against the government of Cameroon for disregarding the fundamental principles of the AU, African leaders will be helping to achieve a positive resolution of the lingering human rights and humanitarian crisis in that country.”

According to the organization, “The AU now must recognize and openly acknowledge that the situation in Cameroon threatens the entire region. AU leaders cannot continue to ignore the violations of human rights inflicted on the people of Cameroon by their own government, and now must take serious steps to help alleviate their suffering and end continuing abuses.

The letter read in part: “SERAP urges the AU to intervene effectively to end Cameroon’s long-standing human rights and humanitarian crisis. Only strong and concerted pressure on the government can end the country’s human rights and humanitarian emergency.” “The government’s longstanding assault on political freedoms and human rights lies at the heart of Cameroon’s political crisis. Enforced disappearances, arbitrary detentions and torture of political detainees have continued for many years, as the authorities routinely arrest and harass political activists, and violently break up peaceful protests.”

“According to our information, 47 refugees and asylum seekers, mostly leaders of the people of Southern Cameroon and who were recently forcibly returned to Cameroon have continued to face torture, ill-treatment, politically motivated trial and other human rights abuses by the government.” “The AU should publicly condemn ongoing torture and ill-treatment of the 47 political activists facing persecution and abuses by authorities and call for their immediate and unconditional release.” s oil company, Belemaoil Producing Limited, yesterday, donated a block of 30 flats to the 16 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

President and Founder of Belemaoil Producing Ltd, Jack-Rich Tein Jr, made the donation, which was for the ranks of Corporal and below, during the ground-breaking ceremony of the 16 Brigade, Camp in Yenagoa. Tein Jr, also announced a scholarship award of N150,000 each to three hundred children of fallen heroes of the Nigerian Army, who died while keeping the peace both at the Niger Delta and the North Eastern part of Nigeria, amounting to about N45million (forty five million naira) per annum. He stated that the gesture was in appreciation of the effort of the fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the security, peace and unity of Nigeria.

The Belemaoil boss said, “It’s a great honuor for our humble selves to be here today and this is the second project that Belemaoil is being part of with the 16 Brigade, the last was a one-hundred bed hostel space at Elele. “My mission here today will not be complete until I become part of those appreciating the efforts of the fallen heroes and fortunately I heard the Commander of 16 Brigade talked about programme for the widows.

“I thought it is important for Belemaoil and the corporate community of this great country to be part of this project that will motivate and encourage the Nigerian Army. “I, on behalf of my company hereby pronounce the award of 300 hundred scholarships at a one hundred and fifty thousand naira each amounting to N45million per annum, for the service men and women that paid the ultimate price in the north east and in Niger Delta.

“To demonstrate the love that has brought us together within Bayelsa and Rivers State, and also the super-excellent services that have been rendered by the Nigerian Army, especially the JTF in our area of operations, we make sure that before today and Friday, the cash amounting to a Hundred and Sixteen million and Three Hundred and some fraction is paid into the account so this project can start tomorrow.” Fielding questions from newsmen after partaking in the tree planting of the Camp Buratai project, Tein Jr stated that the Nigerian Army had sacrificed so much in maintaining peace in the Niger Delta and Nigeria as a whole.

He, therefore, implored other corporate bodies to join hands in supporting the Nigerian Army as a way of encouraging them to do better. Earlier in his speech, Chief of Army Staff, Lt.Gen.Tukur Buratai, thanked Belemaoil for its support, saying, “Let me at this point appreciate Mr. Jack-Rich Tein Jr, President of Belemaoil for identifying with the Brigade and indeed the Nigerian Army by donating a Block of 30 mini-flats for soldiers families. This project will go a long way in addressing part of the immediate accommodation needs for the Brigade.”

On his part, Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson, thanked Tein Jr for promoting peace in communities of the Niger Delta through Belemaoil Producing Ltd. Dickson said, “Let me appreciate the President of Belemaoil, saying, “You have done very well for the military, I have heard the good works about the way you are running your company and promoting communal peace and stability.

This state also needs your support.” Tein Jr, was later presented with a plaque by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Buratai as ‘Friend of the Military’ and in recognition of his support to the military in the Niger Delta.

Nigerian comedian an actor Ayo Makun widely known by his stay name AY is one of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, but he spent a total of 9 year in university.

AY had spent a total of nine years in the delta state university with reasons due to the death of his parent, and he was left to shoulder the responsibility of the family alone as he was the eldest in the family.

Many may wonder why he spent that number in the university, even when the Nigerian university commission doesn’t approve of such.

“In December 1999 when my dad passed, it was difficult to take over his position as the first son. It became even more difficult when my mum decided to join him in no time. Embracing the responsibilities of taking care of my four sisters and two baby brothers wasn’t the best message to preach to a waiting landlord whose rent must be paid in due time. The combination of being a big brother and father came with a price that kept me in Delta State University for 9 years as a student.” He said.

He recently produced a movie he titles “Yoruba demon” which featured the likes of Falz, Ramsey Noah, Jim Iyke and AY.

Ayo Makun (Ayodeji Richard Makun, also known by his stage name A.Y) is a multi-award-winning Nigerian actor, comedian, radio and T.V presenter, actor, writer, director and MC. Born on August 19, He hails from Ifon, Ose local government in Ondo State but prefers to be known as a 'Warri boy'.

CelebritiesSee How A 20 Year Old Unemployed Youth Turns Billionaire by 3Ebisco(op): 9:22pm On Feb 28, 2018
A youth identified as Sabiu Yusuf Tunde who is yet to pin down any job to his name is now a billionaire in president Buhari’s administration.

According to a Kano State-based politician and social critic, Dr Junaid Mohammed, he has insisted on his claim of nepotism against President Muhammadu Buhari.

Sabiu Yusuf Tunde is a nephew to president buhari, he is the son of the president’s niece and younger sister to Mamman Daura, the president’s closest confidant and Yusuf is currently a personal assistant to the president.

Mohammed said that Tunde, who is in his 20s, had never worked in his life before his present appointment but “is one of the wealthiest 20-year-olds in Nigeria.”

Speaking on allegations of nepotism against Buhari, Mohammed said:

“This is an update of what I started saying two years ago. They now have their sons, daughters, sons-in-laws and nephews as beneficiaries of the appointments made so far. Now, among the people in the cabal, but very powerful and not known is someone called Tunde, originally called Sabiu Yusuf. He is the son of Mamman Daura’s immediate younger sister.

He is, today, P.A to the President, even though he has never worked for one day in his life. But a P.A job is normally the work of a full-blown director or a permanent secretary. That boy only got married last year and as I speak to you now, he is one of the billionaires in Nigeria today. Nobody of his age has the kind of money that boy has. So, can that be justified?

According to Mohammed a Second Republic lawmaker, he has accused the president of surrounding himself with unqualified persons who only got their positions because of personal ties with him or his cronies.

CelebritiesNolywood Can Boost The Export, Economic, GDP Of Nigeria With Foreign Technical S by 3Ebisco(op): 6:09pm On Feb 25, 2018
Nolywood Can Boost The Export, Economic, GDP Of Nigeria With Foreign Technical Support-- Paul Adefarasin

House On The Rock pastor, Paul Adefarasin after watching the movie Black Panther, has declared the need for the Nigerian film industry to plan for the future.

Adefarasin, spoke on the strength of the Nigeria film industry at a special screening of Black Panther movie, organized by the US Consular Mission.
In his words :

“The Nigeria film industry is recognised in the global economy as the third largest movie industry in the world. But it is very important that we seek more technical support and more integration with movie industries in America, Europe and in India. I think we can continue to improve our acting skill and make the movie industry grow and continue to hit the silver screen, not just at home but also abroad in foreign markets, and thereby continue to boost the export, economic growth and the GDP of our nation.

We need more film houses in the country, significant infrastructure and national planning. This is a big market; the Nigeria population will be over 400 million in the next 20-25 years (3rd biggest national population in the world) that the global film industry will be most interested in. so, I’m excited for it. The movie industry in the cultural space is also an important space. Culture drives our value system and is a space I am interested in. we want to see the cultural space beginning to drive the value judgement of freedom, justice, righteousness and industrialization.

I am scared about our growth! It’s going to take a lot of planning on the part of the government and increase in the GDP so that we ensure a stronger economy that can facilitate the amenities and infrastructure to cope with such a large population. It’s actually an emergency. So, we need to urgently plan for the future.”

On his review of the movie, in a post he put on his Instagram page, Pastor Adefarasin wrote:

“The plot, effect, contrivance and even the comic relief were all thoroughly engaging and intelligently executed. The depiction of our strength and capabilities as a race was awe inspiring, as was the representation of the African culture, beauty and talent. We enthusiastically celebrate our Nigerian, African and African American brothers and sisters for their groundbreaking accomplishments with this project.

If you have not seen this movie, I think you should go and see it … do so with pride. Take your kids along (if they are within the permitted age) because it is experiences like this that empower us and expand our consciousness, showing how successful, powerful and influential that we as African States, and people of African descent can be”.

PoliticsRescue Nigerians From Buhari – Group Begs UN, US by 3Ebisco(op): 9:28am On Feb 25, 2018
A group of Christians in the North, under the aegis of Arewa Christians and Indigenous Pastors Association, has called for international intervention to rescue Nigerians from the “bad leadership” of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Among the global bodies from which the association sought help are the African Union, the European Union, the Commonwealth of Nations, the United Nations and the United States of America.

The President of ACIPA, Luke Shehu, told journalists during a press conference in Jos that the demand became pertinent because Buhari was “nepotistic”, while the “Nigerian ethnic nationalities and particularly the Northern Christians are under siege.”

The organisation said it had observed that the administration of Buhari had failed in its primary responsibility of protecting lives and property, a cardinal constitutional responsibility, which he had sworn to carry out.

Shehu said, “While we may not conclude that insurgency in Nigeria is state-sponsored, there is clear and obvious complicity by government officials in some quarters.

“This administration should stop deceiving Nigerians that Boko Haram has been defeated. The truth is that after three years, Boko Haram has yet to be defeated despite the pre-election promise to do so in less than six months.”

CelebritiesFoluke Daramola Left Her First Marriage For The Following Reasons by 3Ebisco(op): 9:23pm On Feb 24, 2018
Star actress Foluke Daramola- Salako who is also in the league of Omotola and the likes in their early 40s has spoken out on her life why she had to abandon her first marriage.

According to her she has always wanted to keep her stability intact, but in her first marriage she had to let go so as not to lose everything.

The hardest time of her life was when she left her marriage and this was what she said;

“Another turbulent time for me was when I had to leave my first marriage. I would say I left the marriage as a shadow of myself. When I left that marriage, I felt less than myself and I felt the world had come to an end. That was a time in my life that was very turbulent. What I dread most in my life is to have a broken home and I experienced it with my first marriage. So I would say that was a time in my life that was really turbulent. But a very lovely and good time in my life was when I met the man I am married to. It was a wonderful time in my life.”

In a 2016 interview, she revealed that she was raped while she was a teenager. In an interview with Tribune, she explained that women need to know their value and being financially dependent on their husband. CelebritiesBisi Alimi Blasts Nollywood Actors For Shouting And Screaming by 3Ebisco(op): 9:06am On Feb 24, 2018
Pro-LGBT activist, Bisi Alimi has blasted Nollywood actors and actresses as well as Nigerian citizens for asking why the latest movie “Black Panther” which clearly speaks about African culture didn’t feature any Nollywood actor.

Bisi took to his Facebook page to call out Nollywood actors of not having the skills to feature in the movie. He said it was acting that was required in Black Panther and not shouting and screaming that is filled in Nollywood movies.

Read what he wrote;

“The idea that they should have been a Nigerians actor in Black Panther is ludicrous. I am going to say this, as a matter of fact; there is no actor (male or female) in Nigeria that can act at such quality.

Black Panther was not about “screaming and shouting”, it was about “acting” and those are not the same thing. And don’t get me started at Nnaji (Genevieve Nnaji), she cannot act.
The industry can be better, but they also need to know and accept they are rubbish at the moment and then go for training, I mean like quality training. In a country that gave us Nollywood to think we don’t have a specialist drama school? It’s sad.

These are really strong on Nollywood you may not like their acting skills but many Nigerian recommends them and hold them in high esteem.
