waybanks: i know i have to send supporting document like tenancy agrement and utility bills.. my question is do i have to write another letter since shes only renewing her visa...thanks
VicJ has already answered ur quest. If mum's visa primarily is to for her to visit u, den yes, you the "inviter" need to write an IV letter for the "invitee"
Otherwise, she shld just provide necessary docs to support her reason for visit.

Tech things ugh grin
Oh really? I was certain there's a way you can tether network from a pc but seems they blocked it cos ppl could hardly feed their wireless devices with it, at least I dunno of any1 who did. Seems you'll gimme some lessons in this. smiley.

hsim247: Guys, please advise me.
I'm to resume for me masters in the UK soon and would need to get a laptop and a smart phone. Better to buy them there or here?
I would buy it in UK cos there's nothing as cool as warranty or returns if you change ur mind (eg. If you made a wrong choice and need to exchange it for another.
Of course it may be a little but more pricey but which vendor in Naija changes a phone for a brand new one if the phone malfunctions within 9-15 months of use?
Just my thoughts.

spikesC: Do you really need unlimited minutes and data?
Student accommodation normally comes with unlimited broadband
Wow. My nonsense uni had Internet in the uni accommodation but they were wired. Do you can't use them on your phone's, except of course you did something fishy, but the IT technicians would track you fast fast.

So in such a situation, I would just grab the unlimited data plan.

SashaPride: Thanks A lot.

In my previous application my employment status was unemployed. Do you advise i use the 'Supported by Partner' instead of 'Unemployed' so they know he fends for me here in Nigeria.
If you have the option to choose that, please do. You might also wanna minute that on your cover letter that "you are unemployed AND your partner supports you (if possible, the extent yo which he does)". That way, you haven't said anything different from what was in your previous application, if you see what I mean.

abaskekere: good evening all, please @3sha4lyf, vicJ and JWise was filling my family visit visa form online and got confused by this question: "what is the cost to you of your stay in the UK"

although I have a sponsor who will pay for my trip, but I have to fill in this field, does it inquire how much of my own personal money I will use for the trip, please enlighten me, thanks.
For me, i'ld suggest you put the monies you incur for the trip if at all you are going to spend a dime on it. So say your sponsor caters to the trip 100%, just put nil there.

Sometimes, putting a figure there helps (as long as your account can back it up)... That's just my suggestion.

esosa4real: Thanks @3sha4lyf!
I get it tho buh I jus sha hope they don't take and look into every detail in the form
Cos for example, I stated in the form that I do not ve any fam member or friends and wud stay for 5days.
But actually I plan to stay in uk for 2weeks. My plan is to go to norwich for conference thru manchy then return to manchy and stay with my cousin and then friends for remng part of my stay then return to Naija.

And about the money thingy, na 1500 dey my form o, should I still mention that I have that? Or jux mention that I ve lesser buh am with my creditcard?

Anyways all these are jux in case and don't mind my curiosity, am a first timer UK.
smiley
You should be fine. People change plans according to their circumstances and since it's a general tourist visa, and you are not staying for over 180 days, you should be ok.

As per the finance issue, safer to say "I have approximately 1500 for the trip" if you are asked. And yes, my friend was asked as well. He had to show his credit card alongside his debit cards. Also, I've heard of another person who was escorted to the cashpoint in our POE just to verify the monies available. Lol. 'Twas very funny.

But really, you should be fine.

Enjoy your stay
TravelRe: Main Reasons Many Are Refused Visas by 3sha4lyf:
deevuu: Hello all...great job on here by the way. I have read some of the posts but i cant seem to find an answer to my question..I want to apply for a visit visa to the UK and i know i have to attach my bank statement but the issue i have is the irregularity of how my salary comes into the account. so i was thinking CAN i use my dads bank statement? Can i combine my own account statement with my Dads own? Also i did a two year course in the UK and i came back last year before my visa expired tho!
Summary... Pls put your salary account and explain irregularities. Include your dad's account IF he is in anyway sponsoring the trip. You may need other supporting documents to back this up. smiley
TravelRe: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 2 by 3sha4lyf: 6:06pm On Sep 08, 2014
SashaPride: Thanks for the heads up.

He put in his salary acct in the application , the visa officer probably didn't take a good look at the documents. I was thinking we should make photocopies of the statement and state on each Salary, Current and Savings and also highlight the salary received in the salary bank statement to avoid the same problem again. Do u advice i put my own statement in the application. i'm not well funded but it shows that he sends money monthly to my acct.
In addition to VicJ's suggestion, may I also suggest that you include a cover letter, detailing the documents you include in your application AND "your reason" for including them as supporting documents.

For example, in the letter, you can write "please find attached the following documents to support my application.
1) MR. Xyz' salary account from ABC bank to show income claims from zzz employer.
2) MR xyz's savings account from Gtz bank which will cater to our travel during the proposed trip ,
Etc.

Be careful about the photocopies of the accounts you included in your past application so that they don't "deliberately" use it to assess your application "by mistake, If you get what I mean. Highlight it in your cover letter that it's to indicated that the previous decision did not consider the salary account details, for example. Also be sure to address other issues raised. It's painful but You gotta toughly do it and I'm certain all will be well.

esosa4real: @3sha4lyf hey dear pls wanted to ask, what are the precautions I should take at the POE considering am a uk first timer + coming from ebola endemic naija.... + being a health worker.....jux don't wanna be turned back o....lol

Anyone travelled recently? Hope dey r jux simple screening procedures @ d POE and no harrasment?
Also, would they ask me questions about my Visit?
Must I carry same amount of cash stipulated in my form?
My conference is in norwich, but I am entering through manchester and would take a bus down to norwich, hope they won't ask me #yeye questions?
Finally, I breached my booking.com hotel booking and choosed another cheaper hotel, hope they won't findout and ask me stupid questions why so? #thats if they know anyways
Thanks
Hiya, just seeing this. I'm really not sure you should be worried about anything... Just be sure of your purpose, (I mean have it ready at the back of your head as they may ask you, though they know why ur here) your contact address, return flight booking should also be handy, just in case. Nothing too serious to be scared of. They are not gods... They ask, you answer, they ok you, you enter. smiley.

Also be careful if they ask how much you have for your trip, and yes, they randomly ask... Just be sure to state the same you put on your form, regardless.
I don't think there's any problem, if you're asked why you came in thru Manchy when your main purpose is in norwich, simply tell'em you got a cheaper bargain via Manchester. You can get the East Midlands train directly to norwich, cheaper if you book earlier. It's bout three to four hours (I've forgotten) and I prefer that to the buses (national express or megabus) because the distance is up to eight hours. I'm not a fan of long trips when there are shorter alternatives, but that's just me.

At out the booking.com, can't really say much. It's a two way thing. If they ask for, and need to crosscheck like your hotel booking, and they have to ring up the hotel, let's hope they won't be overtly ready for you, lol and make an issue on the change of hotel, but in anyway, you can tell them you got a better offer with the new hotel as well. Lol.

koyyes: Good points op but i'm sorry to say that you've completely wasted your time. why? check how many males are viewing this thread at this very moment. alot of guys/men have these kind of girls as babes. they only come out here and make noise about what they ironically love and these girls know it because they've been encouraged to do them- its part of their(guys) guilty pleasure if not,why are'nt deeper life girls hot cakes huh?
This is just true. I wonder so much. Eg. Guys complain about girls yearning for expensive Brazillian hair, yet they chase after them and leave the ones without fake hair to keep wondering what went wrong. That's the irony of this thing called woman/man lifetime relationship wink

RomanceRe: Some Very Silly Things Girls Should Stop Doing by 3sha4lyf:
handysuzy: 1. Asking a guy you just met for recharge card
This is very annoying. It makes you look cheap. A guy met you in the afternoon, gave you a call in the evening and you are already asking
him to send you a recharge card. Trust me, that guy can never respect you. He might eventually send you the recharge card, but the only thing on his mind would be to sleep with you once or twice and get rid of you.

2. Judging a guy by his looks
I believe guys should be the ones that should be hell bent on beauty and physical appearance. Dont fall for a guy chiefly because he looks good physically. You need to access his acumen, sense of judgment, level-headedness, dreams etc. What makes a good guy is by far more than just looks.

3. Having sex with a guy the day you met him
This is uncalled for. You automatically lose some respect if you allow this guy to get down with you the first day you met him. Little kisses here and there and some cuddling would do, if you are tempted, let him feel your boobs just to get yourself wet. The longer you make a guy wait, the more he will appreciate you and value your body. No one values what he gets easily.

4. Pouting of lips to take a selfie
Do we have to do this? Its so disgusting. Okay fine, I am guilty of this too and am going to stop. Every picture of a girl on facebook shows her pouting her lips to look pretty. This doesn't make us look prettier; it only make us look childish. I didnt realise it makes me look like a kid until my boyfriend told me 5 days ago.

5. Manipulating a guy to over spend for you on a date.
Because he looks rich and came to the eatery in a car makes you feel you can drain his pocket abi. This instantaneously tells the guy that you are a hungry girl and from a very poor background. Cant you just order for just one ice cream or a soft drink and be fine with this cool dude. Even if you do not like him, do not do this. Trust me, the guy will never call you again and if he does he only wants to get laid just once. The worst is taking your friend along so that you can both finish him.

6. Forcing yourself on a guy that doesn't give a damn about you
If a guy likes you, he will show it. Dont you ever force yourself on a guy. You can indicate some green lights but don't force yourself on him. If you do he will treat you like shit. I have read some post here on Nairaland telling girls how to woo a guy. Dont try it. There are a million subtle ways to make him see that you like him than forcing yourself on him and asking him out outrightly.

7. Keeping too many boyfriends
Cant we just be cool with one guy we love? 8 boyfriends equals to 8 dicks. Jesus Christ! How many guys are combing you?

8. Excessive Make Up
Excessive make up make us look like masquerades, ojuju calabar like Tiwa Savage. Trust me, guys dont like girls with excessive make-ups. I have heard guys say it more than a thousand times how much they hate excessive make up on ladies. Look natural and if you must apply make ups, make it very lite.
This world is very funny. You do, people complain; you no do, people complain. Wetin man go do na?

1) Okies, very true... But some guys like it when you demand something even on the first date. They be like "lemme know her spec/taste".

2) You're right. Unfortunately, no matter what a guy has upstairs, downstairs, inside or outside himself, if he doesn't appear "well" at first sight, you may not take a second look at him to discover what goodies he has upstairs etc. They call it Packaging smiley

3) I wish guys still think you're cheap when you sha-g dem on d first date. Then how come some first date sha-gs turn out to be couples celebrating anniversaries? I dunno y. TBH, give it on day 1, give it on day 90, the summary remains that you gave it. What matters is how you manage the aftermath afterwards.

4) I can't agree with you any less. Pouting, I would say, is not for everyone and not for every time. If you discover your best camera looks, and it's pouting, do it. If you're unsure, ask your friend how it looks. If it doesn't fit you, just manage your smile and forget about pouting. Identify your selling points. smiley.

5) Yes. Yes. Yes. If you don't want him, don't use him. But sometimes, guys don't wanna hear No! We don't wanna take No for an answer. Girls, just refrain from placing orders that you don't need, and you can't pay for if the guy's wallet suddenly got missing. shocked. Lol.

6) Truly... When it comes too cheap, it's taken for a roller coaster ride. Tell him you love him, but don't act like you'll die as he's mot in love with you. You're as good as dead to him, yet he'll use what's left of you and toss u when he's tired of your remains.

7) Hmmmm. I can't judge oooo. So what makes you comfortable. If you can manage a football team, welldone. If it's only the goalkeeper you can handle, face him only. Only you can tell how many eggs you wanna put in a basket or how many baskets you wanna put your eggs in. smiley.

8 ) Funny enough, some guys won't take you out if you haven't got those OMG, DDG, WOW loud make-up, false nails, fake hair, boar-eyelashes etc. They'll even be the ones to ask you if everything's alright, the day you decide to go on your natural hair.
What can one do?!

TBH, it's different strokes for different folks.

@Handysuzy, you're too much for this "counter-post" I've just learnt and I'm still learning. Welldone.

I will SUGGEST using Strivectin. It's pricey but it sure works. Honest review is that you see a small difference after three to four weeks, then you begin to expect much more, it then takes (like what I've noticed) another bottle (like 9 weeks) to see a total difference. Then you continue maintaining with it.
I'm sure there are people who know some other methods like Shea butter and co., I'm not sure about that. Someone will chime in soon so this is my own opinion. It sure works.

Getting a UK tourist visa, how easy is it applying for oneself and intending wife (being that they still bear different surnames) before the marriage in preparation for a honeymoon immediately after the marriage?
IMO, it should not be any problem as long as your supporting documents are sufficient enough. I say this cos my sibling applied for 5yrs after court wedding, prior to the trad and white which was month away, for their honeymoon. Just be sure to include your Wedding IV, a draft of ur itinerary for activities you intend doing during the honeymoon, among other documents, and you should be fine, all things being equal

ochukoccna: @ Justwise, I concur with you on the sending of bank statements to one's address back in your country of origin
Why they do that, I have no idea undecided
That been said, HSBC told me last year they don't do Nigerian student accounts again embarassed embarassed

Well I think everyone has their different experiences with this banks as I jettisoned Barclays for Lloyds due to some abracadabra they pulled on my account
A course-mate had the most bitter experience with them and switched to TSB
Story goes thus, he discovered his account was credited with 2,000 quid
Since he wasn't expecting this sudden cash inflows, he reported the matter only for them to suspend his account for close to 5 months in the name of investigation embarassed embarassed
Dude was living from hand to mouth all this time and burrowing money from friends along with loan sharks cos even for the little hustle he was pushing here, the employment agency couldn't pay him cos his account was locked down
Trying to open accounts with other banks threw up his pending case with Lloyds as a red flag undecided undecided
Eventually the SUG had to take up his case with them with Barclays paying some compensation for his ordeal
Pray what kind of RESPONSIBLE institution would lock down a foreign student's account for that amount of time without access to his funds angry angry
And even when the student was the one to alert you to suspicious activity on his account? sad sad
Yes do your investigations but be prompt about it cos the UK is so unforgiving when the time comes for one to pay his bills
Na that time you go know say people dey sweat in sub zero temperatures grin grin
Wow! Similar thing happened to me. I then blamed myself for alerting them. Only to find that it was someone I know who sent me sum suprise funds. Was lucky I could fall back to lloyds while they carried out their investigation even after I told dem I now know the sender. Lol.
TravelRe: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by 3sha4lyf:
cookies: Hello house, please which bank in the Uk will you advice me as a student to open an account with?
In my own personal bias, I'll Suggest LLoyds. Reason being that they gave me a bountiful overdraft which neither HSBC or Barclays gamme when I needed something even lesser as a student then (I still have the facility till date). I think that was helpful against those annoying unplanned overdrafts do I'll recommend them.
Next I'll go for Barclays. HSBC would hav bin ok but had problems assessing my funds one period. They claimed it's their security checks. I was furious with them but hey, they were doing their job. Lol. Then the rest of the banks.

AceMiss: Hello Justwise and other gurus in the house. Please i desperately need you help. I just paid for my visa application and submitted it,my appointment has been confirmed and i have printed all relevant documents needed for submission on Wednesday. I was going through my printed application and that was when i realized i had made a mistake on the expiration date of my last visa(i put 23 May 2014 instead of 23 Feb 2014). Kindly advice me house on what can be done to rectify this mistake considering the fact that the application has been submitted and my appointment is on Wednesday (3rd Sept) and i can not re apply for later because i will be unavailable from Friday(5th Sept). Please help me my people,i need help fast.
My take, I'm not sure it should be much of a problem if your supporting documents are error-free. I mean, I'm no immigration officer but I would think that's too little a reason to refuse you. Maybe it's happened but I dunno and I can't imagine it. It's very funny to see dat. However, I've heard bout them revisiting previous errors on applications and summing them up to give solid reason for refusals, if you see what I mean.
You can err on the part of caution and put a sticky note on that point in application form and put down the ideal date.
OR
You can just ignore it, concentrate on putting ALL supporting documents in tact.

Vicjustice: From the very moment that you joined this forum, you began to get on people's necks, you even picked on Justwise and Solomonwise etc. I remember even offering you an apology when you rant endlessly of how you were imaginary victimized.
Yet, you still don't seem to understand that this is a community forum that requires everyone to coexist in cordiality, and to communication their differences in respectful manners.
You are a female, an African at that, your lack of respect and your arrogant manners in correspondences are things that you should be concerned about.
To be honest, from the radical way that you started, i knew that it was only a matter of time before you attack me: you just remind me of a dedicated trouble-maker and i won't be surprised to know that you are she.
Well, Nairaland is a place where any body can hide behind computer's keyboard and rain insult to those that they would respect in real life.
So, enjoy, Miss Tricia
My dear, really sorry to burst ur bubbles, go through my posts, I have never insulted anyone! Even when you say justwise and Solomonwise "victimised" me, did I insult them? No! Bless Seun but I guess the records are still there. If there's something I'm not clear about, I'm very happy to ask more even from them if they will offer solutions. I do not claim to know it all. And like every other person, absolutely no one is above correction. I'm a learner and do my bits daily.
FYI, you don't know me, so you can't say I lack respect or I'm arrogant. I have never judged no one on this forum. In the stead, I empathise with everyone like I've learned to, as if it could happen to anyone, anyway. Even when people's cases seem like a dead end, I don't victimise them like there's no way out. Not only on this forum, everywhere I e-exist. You know yourself, I know me. This is not the first, nor only forum I am on and so I vividly understand that people, regardless of their opinions, must coexist together.
From your words, I can sense that you were only ready for me to say a word to you and you misinterpret it and throw a stone back at me because you already have the mindset I am after you. Again, sorry to burst your bubbles, no time at all, you know how it is.

All these sterns from a little correction I gave to you and not like I've never been corrected before, instead of you to die the matter, you R taking it like its a deliberate cyberattack on you. Omg. So wow! Seriously, I didn't think so about you.
I'm not gonna go on n on on issues like this, so I don't derail the forum. You are entitled to your opinions and perceptions, and I respect that. You may perceive me as arrogant, welldone, but there's a popular saying, "let he who is blameless be the first to cast the stone".
Lastly, anybody may hide behind the taps of a keyboard, but I don't. Ask people that know me. My handle says it all. I may never give my bio data on forums because of cause, people r aware of cybercrime, but I don't attack people facelessly because, who knows,, like I always say, you could be my next door neighbour.

In your calm state, go through my posts and I'm sure that will be helpful. I don't see anywhere I insulted you or anyone at that. It's just a simple correction which If it was me, I'll take to mind. Like ever, I'll say tx. smiley

You seem to behave as if you are in a knowledge competition with everyone, and your arrogant manners are provocative.
I guess there's something you aren't saying...
If I remember clearly, vivy1 asked

vivy1: Please I have some questions, I would appreciate your contribution a lot.
When a visitor visa is refused to a person. Does the person has the right for administrative review, I'm a bit worried as the visitor visa application is not a tier 1, 2, 4 nor 5 who can get this outright.
Then you replied
Vicjustice: Administrative review (unlike appeal) is neither given nor made by rights, and unlike appeal in which you have the rights to contest a decision, administrative review is only a REQUEST for reconsideration: with administrative review, you are PLEADING for reconsideration, buI with appeal, you are CHALLENGING a decision based on your rights.
Now, anyone can make this request, but i don't often encourage it especially in respect of tourist visa application rather , I encourage the correction of previous errors and reapplication in due time
Guess you didn't read the question very well. You then gave a response that assumes that general visit visa can actually request admin review, which is WHAT THE POSTER WAS, among other questions, ASKING to clarify.

FYI, as per the bolded, NOT ANYONE CAN MAKE A REQUEST FOR ADMINISTRATIVE REVIEW. YOU HAVE TO HAVE APPLIED UNDER CERTAIN CATEGORIES, from the uk, and be in the uk as at the time of admin review request.

Let it be known that I'm in no knowledge tussles with any1. Just like you would do, if I see incorrect info here, it's only nice to correct it. No one knows it all, absolutely No one!!! We all learn, and everyday. So my friend, accept corrections and quit being provoked when and because you are corrected. There's nothing in my correction that spits arrogance, on the contrary, it's your countenance and response to corrections that spells arrogance.

spikesC: Quite good.
They left for Casablanca 10 minutes before take off and reached 20 minutes before arrival time.
They left for Heathrow 15 minutes past departure time and reached 5 minutes before arrival time.

They served tea/coffee from Nigeria to casablanca embarassed
And one kind poison from Casablanca to Heathrow angry
I didn't even dare to eat the food served grin
Though took a can of coke and one kinda kpuff from Casablanca to Heathrow

You'll not find good food in Casablanca, so you better fill up in Nigeria.
The stores that sell edible snacks wey fit hold belle doesn't accept payment cards and they spend Euro

The air hostesses do not speak English, atleast not very well, and ignorantly, they expect you to understand Arabic.
But they have beautiful legs wink

I slept through out the whole flights' duration though.

Remember to have something for your ears.
They will circle Heathrow for around 15 minutes and you'll wish the pilot would just nose dive the damn plane angry

Chewing gum didn't work for me and swallowing saliva made the pain worse.
Stroking the back of my ear actually reduced it very well. My brother said you should get ear muffs to put into your ear

Very close to Heathrow, they would display a blue card whilst speaking Arabic angry
Just take the damn card from them if you are on Tier-4 visa, cos you would need to fill it and submit at POE
But if you missed it, don't worry, they would give it to you at POE.
Have your CAS letter handy, and ofcourse, your passport.
At POE while submitting those, they would ask what you came to do in the UK (Yeah i know, it's silly)
The name of your school and the address of your campus.

If someone would pick you up at Heathrow, you better load credit on your phone to call them.
The free wifi at Heathrow didn't work.
There is also charging spots on the building pillars, so you should have your charger close in case your phone is down.
You gotta be kidding me. Was it a free flight? Tea and coffee only? How many hours?

pls advice what and what do i need to apply wit,,, am self-employed, i dont intend stayin wit anyone in the uk and i wann go during sales....my motive is for shoppin cos i sell wears.....

av left the immigration lawyer wit the administrative review cos my mind is off it.
Please my dear don't waste your time and resources with a lawyer bout admin review. Your visa category cannot ask for admin review.

As per reapplication as an S/E, add all relevant docs (read this thread carefully, it's been answered over n over again), then be sure to put details of shops you intend to visit in an additional letter cum cover letter. This is essential becos if you have never been to the uk, you may need to prove to the visa officer that you have done a business research as a businessman on where n where you will purchase your supplies (clothes) from.

Again, if you intend to "shop for your business", your supporting account(s) needs to be commensurate with your intentions, unlike people who intend to just visit n tour.
