worlexy: Jonathan is their problem, from day 1. Even after he left government for them, they still can't do anything without mentioning Jonathan's name. They told us that Buhari has studied Nigeria's problem for 12years and if given opportunity to be elected, he would hit the ground running. But here we are today. Something as simple as making fuel abundant at official pump price, he cannot achieve, at a time when oil price is dropping all over the world, we are here in Nigeria paying more for less oil. Official pump price is N86.5/L but we are buying it at N150/L and above. SOS oh Lord How simple is it? If you were in PMBs shoes, what would you have done overnight and differently? Sometimes we talk as if we don't do thorough root-cause analysis. Guess u don't even understand what it means to Nigeria today for "oil price to drop". Lamely put, oil is losing value cos of several reasons, including that others are finding better alternatives to oil. What else do we do apart from depend on oil. Our craft centres, zero. Our agriculture, infant. Our fashion and designing, still struggling. Schools, malfunctioning, aviation, milking us dry, culture, going into extinction. So what's left? We are all dependent on IMPORTED things, producing nothing to export, then u talk about "something as simple as making fuel abundant at official PP". Ask PENGASSON and NUPENG what their resolute on fuelling is. Yes SOS Lord, cos we need our refineries, museums, schools, craft centres, farms, etc working so that we won't be importing Rice, Toothpicks, etc. We can be exporting Garri, Cement, NIGERIAN HAIR, etc. Can't we? Let's begin to think out of the box. Tx. |

Nigeria is in trouble and I blame our leaders for chasing away Ghanaian teachers who would have impacted common sense into us years ago. Which is better? To release FALSE RESULTS OR to certify accurate results? A case in point is the Rivers State issue. Flashback to 2015 elections. APC, international observers, non-partisan citizens etc. cried out that the elections should be cancelled cos it was marred seriously with violence and malpractices. They alleged that the PDP used federal might cum dss, military, police, navy, militants, etc to intimidate and marginalise dem from voting. There were killings...BB snatching, name it. APC ppl were overwhelmed and caught unawares. Now,instead of someone to do the right thing and investigate, the person went ahead to release results, all because she was working in tandem with the federal govt.
In 2016, the Rerun was marred by a different version of violence and malpractices. Both parties were prepared! PDP will repeat what they did in the last elections, APC were fully charged to match violence for violence. Infact, Supreme Court verdict even stirred the venom Sef. The only difference was that APC had the military etc with the inactivity of the federal Boss, PMB. Of course we know the outcome. Amazingly, the PDP was crying out like the APC did last year and immediately gained public sympathy simply cos people hate PMB for no just cause. The REC, seeing what happened, suspended actions until reports from fieldworkers return, JUST LIKE JEGA DID when he sent 3 "PDP" fieldworkers to investigate the malpractice claims for 3 days. He would rather release clear results than concocted ones.
Now instead of people to do some critical analysis, they just put blame on PMB and say INEC is incompetent. Did INEC put guns and matches in the hands of rivers people? If you conduct a rerun in the north today, it will be peaceful. I'm sure Results will come out. But south-south, okpari! Look at rivers and bayelsa. Even if you put Obama and Donald Trump to conduct it, there will still be violence and malpractices becos the missiles are still with the boys, and are willing to be use their WMDs.
I pity/pray for Edo state, which is coming up soon. God help them. But please leave all these childish zombie talks. They sound like stuffs illiterates actually gut out. And it's even funny when someone says it and still calls PMB an illiterate. Who's more illiterate?
Let's have mature discussions on NL when serious issues like this pop up. Neither INEC nor PMB is to be blamed for Rivers rerun results' mishap. It's we Rivers People. |

dealslip: Let the truth be told. APC has no direction. All they want is to control every arm of government and all states regardless of whether they are doing well or not. The economy isn't doing well and all they think about is how to grab power for themselves. All this force should be applied in the power sector and see whether Nigeria wont show some improvement. How come the same free and fair election conducted by INEC and brought in Buhari couldn't be repeated in Rivers. If you knew about rivers state, you wouldn't have gutted this out. Rivers has been a den of thugs. Remember the HQ of militants?... April 2025 elections WERE NOT FREE AND FAIR but when people cried out, the GEJ administration swept it under their carpets. Now it boomeranged, people like you point fingers at PMB/APC led government. Amaechi went to his polling unit that year 2015 and requested to see the result sheets BEFORE voting, but instead, the PDP took over the media, cursing him and asking if he was the APC party rep and that he had no right to request for it. Now, I heard people like Toru Ofili, Kenneth Kobani, Ishi, etc were asking for result sheets BEFORE voting, and all of a sudden, that is now right. Una Welldone oooo. God is watching, and soon, He will speak, cos Sodom & Gomorrah didn't commit half the atrocities we r/have committed for God to have cleared dem all, let alone small Rivers State. rapistbuhari: Right step at the right direction
Rivers State once a peaceful/progressive place to be has now been turned into a theatre of war in the pursuit of power/money by god-forsaken thugs masquerading themselves as politicians APC.
Everywhere Buhari goes or comes from is senseless killings, war and tragedies,
May God almighty help us overcome Buhari and his blood letting relatives/friends Amen. You just hate Buhari because of no just cause. Rivers state has never known peace since Odili's days. Amaechi even tried to calm PH when it was boiling after Odili's era. Rivers became hot when some people with federal might began to undermine the sovereignty of the Governor, forgetting that they're setting the pace for the future. Our governor was embarrassed publicly, he was restricted from movement, he was attacked... HOW CAN YOU DO THIS TO A GOVERNOR AND THINK ITS ALRIGHT In all fairness, Amaechi tried for the Rivers ppl much more than GEJ did for us. Yes, he was governor but we thought we should be happier since we had a bigger brother at the federal, who's married to our sister; a plus for us, which Infact was a stalemate. Look at Okrika where madam P cums from... Nothing especial! I thought by now, considering her power and position, that place will be the hub of business in Rivers as the "Okrika-wake-up" name we heard growing up. But we r still back to OBIO AKPOR and PORT HARCOURT being the lime wire of rivers state. So sad. No b to share money. Nna Abeg leave this matter of peace and no peace. Truth be told is that Karma is hitting hard on Rivers state, but my worry is the victims. Wike is getting a taste of the a la carte he served Amaechi. If Amaechi had the backing from PMB that Wike got from GEJ's inaction/PATIENCE's Action, Rivers State would have been levelled down before 19th March. But Buhari has been soooooooooo uninterested, or to be fair, shown little interest in Rivers' injustice. All I'll say is God will see us THRU. But stop hating Buhari... It's blocking your way from moving on, Ask GOD. Cheers. |

To all those calling President Buhari a dullard, Welldone o. I don see una, with all your intelligence, who you he[l]p? If you were as intelligent as you want us to believe, you would have seen this as an OPPORTUNITY to showcase your talents.
Headline reads that the President is "in a dilemma". Instead of getting the message, you begin to insult. Intelligent people gather up like minds, discuss on roundtables, get possible working solutions, begin to send news across to the Presidency that you are a small group of intelligent minds with workable solutions to xyz problems... Make yourself heard; use social media. Tweet and Retweet until you are called to rub minds. You'll be paid for your intelligence.
Not just hiding behind the anonymity of your Nairaland handle and reigning insults on your president like if you were in his shoes, you'll solve America's problems. If you must criticise, criticise constructively. Lastly, for all its worth, our hatred for Buhari won't make him poorer than the richest middle class man, just like our hatred for GEJ never made him poorer than the poorest Governor. It just doesn't change NOTHING.

From the comments I see here, most Rivers people think like a one-way traffic. My people, TRAVEL AND SEE!!! Stop all these Wike/Amaechi talk. In a somewhat rich state, people are still depending on the crumbs they can make from politicians. Yet there's certainly no Y2k20 or 22nd century development in the state but for ongoing road construction. If I ask people here what they can give Rivers state to restore her to the Garden City Alfred D-Spiff, Rufus A-George and co tried to make it, I'm not sure we would have a good round table of discussion. No one is condemning the feud that has been in the state since 2007. Everyone is either saying "best this, shoot that, kill this, rig that"... But you forget that no matter how much u make today from a government, it takes just ONE KIDNAP to render you broke! Ask victims.
Mind you, it doesn't make sense if you're waxing in monies yet your extended families can't feed. It's a failure cos ideally, structures should have been put in place so ur extended families can work well and get a living independent of u.
The earlier we take our minds from these clowns, and begin to demand a better living condition from our government, the best for us.
I believe in our leaders, but they just have to get it right and that can only be done if we stop chasing the shadow rather than lighting up the whole premises.

aventura: Why is no one asking this million dollar question?
What is Amaechi doing in Port Harcourt?
I know he's from the state and can visit anytime but he's not here on official functions. He's not here on ministry's assignment rather in his own words "I'm here until after the elections" meaning he's here for the elections.
Is it not fundamentally wrong? Doesn't APC have a chairman or party chieftains in the state for such purposes. So it can seen clearly that Amaechi stoked the supposedly violence that has engulfed the state today.
Truth be told; Amaechi and Wike were cut from thesame cloth which is a graphical illustrations of the type of politicians we have across party formations.
How then does the Nigerian people get good governance in all of this political shenanigans?
To your tents, O' Nigerians......... He's not only from Rivers State and apolitical leader who wanted to cast his vote as well, but he also took one-week leave to enable him perform these duties. Hope that answers your question. Cheers. |

yaki84: y r u guys not viewing n following this rivers rerun as it is? akwaibom did rerun n the card reader was used, the local govt areas that apc said it was thier strong hold cos those who testified at the tribunal were mostly from those lgs but pdp won in landslide. no violence even when apc told d whole world that thousands oof people lost thier lives till now we hvnt seen pix of those people. the isuueof river is different, it would hv been worst if supreme court upheld the verdict of appeal n tribunal. the election would hv been more bloody n pdp for still win. card reader or not, there r so many ways to rig election with the card reader. we hv incident form if ur pvc is not captured by the CR, so what r u telling me. secondly the killing in rivers is not even one tenth of the killings perpetrated by fulani's herdsmen in agatu n other lgs in benue state, the destruction of properties in rivers can equate the billions lost in benue by these buhari's tribesmen. benue if food basket of the nation, if this issue is not nip in d bud early am seeing benue become the empty basket of the nation. I hope u understand that a CR records ALL attempts on it, failed or successful. If it fails, an incidence form (IF) is used, but it doesn't erase the attempted data. CR, like any machine in the world is NOT Bulletproof. Hackers gonna hack. Machines gonna fail. But you don't avoid education simply cos it's expensive. One more thing I think people need to understand about deployment of military is that situations invite them, especially when there is evidence that the local security are facing challenges in, or have arguably failed to curb the restiveness. If the former is the case, assistance from military comes in. If the latter is the case, an intervention suffices. Maybe in Benue, police still assure the FG that they are on their game but may need assistance if nothing changes from, say next week...I said MAYBE O. Maybe in Rivers, military has assumed that with the restiveness in the state pre-election, it may get bloodier if no assistance comes. So they opted for INTERVENTION, which undermines the opinions of d police. Again, that's a maybe... If you are a spouse to a Force Member, or have a family member in the Force, you can relate to this. Rivers [Rerun] Election was certainly a Do-or-Die Deal. it doesn't need to be so. 2019, only the candidates and their families may have to cast the votes. |

amtaken: APC was more violent in 2015 election than any other party I know.
In my ward, they were so aggressive and we're so ready to shed blood.
They were about bolting away with electoral materials after people had stood in the sun voting for hours, some youths from other parties tried to stop them, one person was stabbed by an APC thug and he was bleeding. We had to call the attention of the State Commissioner of Police and he sent some aggressive looking officers who spoke in the loudest tone. That was how they APC touts reluctantly calmed down. We later heard that my ward was even 'peaceful' compared to other wards.
The hard fact is that APC failed mostly in SS and SE states because the people saw it as an alien party and truly the recent events have shown that they are prophets.
As per card reader, if the Government of the day is serious about implementing its use, then it has to go back to the drawing board by calling for Sovereign National Conference, leading to the amendment or total re-enactment of the Constitution. Fair enough... But I find your opening sentence open for debate. More violent... 2015 elections... Hmmmm. Well, at this point, one can only speak for what he or she saw. To be fair, I think we should recall there were two elections in 2015. If I should make a quick mere analysis, in the First election- Presido, APC were, to a large extent, disenfranchised. Some areas complained about APC being omitted from the result sheets. Some people sef were warned NOT TO VOTE FOR APC or receive SHORT SLEEVES. The conception was that GEJ was in power, would be in power, and NOTHING GO HAPPEN afterwards. But it didn't happen that way. Then came the next election- Gubernato, while PDP were vexed with the outcome of the elections a fortnight ago, APC was given more gingered to make sure there's a band effect of their previous "victory" on the state elections. While PDP would maintain their tactics and with all the then federal might back in rivers since GEJ had lost, APC would swear they will match violence for violence, with or without the consent of their leaders, afterall, As you buy the goat, na so you go sell am. And indeed it was a bloodbath for who could kill and rig, etc better, which at the end of the day was meaningless because the PDP had Gesila Khan who had the "final say". Even the Labor Party candidate was left to sit on the fence with fear. That's the story of Rivers Elections that brewed so much tension, with people awaiting this Rerun to "do-again" or "do better". I'm sure someone may relate to this. Pls note that I don't support violence. The songwriter says "The battlefield e no get eye to look who to kill who to leave". And since no one has monopoly of violence, it will be silly to boast about it. Elections now, especially in BayRiv, is like war. And if not checked, 2019, and maybe 2020 will be a massacre. |

amtaken: The card reader is not constitutional and therefore cannot be admissible in evidence in a tribunal matter, even when it is admissible, it won't be attached with much importance. Truly it isn't... Yes I agree, even though I am of the opinion that INEC needs to apologise to Nigerians for wasting funds, and subjecting them to a process that was UNCONSTITUTIONAL. BUT the truth remains the same. The declaration of the CR as unconstitutional has imbibed in electorates the "win-by-all-means" attitude cos der would definitely be no way to detect it. This has nothing to do with the APC or PDP. It's what's happening already. APC won't repeat the same mistake they made in the previous elections by relying on the potency of a CR, and PDP would try at all cost to repeat what they did in that election. The result is BLOOD BATH, which is what's brewing in rivers. . And I think as adults, we can have a debate without insults, except one wants to tell the cyber community how silly s/he really is. |

cckris: Amaechi is the heart & soul of APshit in the South south. Amaechi & his reluctant followers. Now the killing has started, like this at Nonwa. It's unfortunate...no one knows what altercation led to this. But whether you call them apchits or whatever, you know what's up. RIP to the deceased. I have a heart. |

cckris: True Rivers sons & daughters are now BOLDLY voting against Amaechi, & where hindered, they're protesting publicly, & won't allow ARROGANT and RUTHLESS Amaechi & his dumb followers steal their God-given rights.
You certainly dunno what you're saying... They can't vote against Amaechi, he's not contesting. It's APCCCCCCCCCCCCCC bro. Anyways, let's stay calm. It's a VOTEnotQUARREL rerun so let Nairaland not be different. |

peacengine: He is making himself a nuisance. The man is acting too desperate, I expect only naive people to witness such desperation as Amaechi has displayed so far and not do all they can to defend their votes Your opinion... Not everyone thinks that way. If you are a TRuE RIVeRs person, IN RiVeRs state, then you won't say that. God help Rivers People today. Cheers. |

peacengine: While i commend the writer for this insightful write-up. Nigerian politics has taken a new dimension, it is not the usual casting of votes and everything goes according to plan, our leaders are desperate for power, how does one explain the attitude of a serving minister who leaves his duty to campaign in his state for positions which he is not contesting. Votes have to be defended. Get real. The Transport minister is a Rivers man and is constitutionally vested with rights to vote in this election. To make it further legal, he took one week leave to enable him "participate". He's campaigning just like Goodluck campaigned for Dickson. Was Goodluck contesting?. So what are you on and about? |
