Politics / PDP Alerts Security Agencies Over Amaechi’s Threat To Disrupt Gej's Rally. by 401kk: 4:48pm On Jan 22, 2015
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rivers State chapter wishes to draw the attention of the Police and other Security agencies in the State to the continued threat by Gov Chibuike Amaechi to mobilize his supporters against the PDP should the Party insist on holding President Jonathan’s State campaign rally in Amasieamaka Stadium.

Reacting through a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media to the State Party chairman, Jerry Needam, the PDP said it no longer takes the threat as ordinary because Gov Amaechi has sufficiently proved that he has natural hatred for President Goodluck Jonathan and his family and is only using party politics as a cover to get at the President.

The party regrets that rather than issues-based campaigns, Amaechi has made it unmistaken to cast aspersions on Mr President everywhere he goes for campaigns and as though these are not enough, has gone on Love FM Port Harcourt Radio live programme Thursday , January 22, 2015 to threaten fire and brimstone should the PDP go ahead to hold any rally for President Jonathan in the State owned Amasieamaka Stadium.

The PDP wants Amaechi to note that there is a difference between him and the State and by extension, State owned institutions and should stop acting as though these institutions are his personal property.

Regrettably, the only reason he (Amaechi) has given for refusing the PDP the use of the new stadium is that he is the Governor and has the right to say No.

This is outright turning himself to the ‘State’ which is wrong and anti-democratic, the PDP notes.

“While we do not wish to join issues with Amaechi, we also make bold to say that Amaechi’s threats are a pointer to concluded plans to cause breach of the peace and order in the State and should be invited by the law enforcement agencies for interrogation and should also be held responsible for any possible crisis before, during and after President Jonathan’s presidential rally in the State,” the PDP warned.

It would be recalled that President Jonathan’s campaign team has been severally attacked by the All Progressives Congress, APC in the course of his State wide electioneering tours, the latest being in APC presidential candidate’s home, Katsina State.

Politics / PDP Accuses Dakuku Peterside Of Diverting Funds For Roads Construction by 401kk: 2:19pm On Jan 20, 2015
The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has accused the All Progressives Congress, APC Governorship Candidate in the State, Dakuku Peterside of gross abuse of office while he served as State commissioner for Works.

The Party in a statement signed by the Special Adviser on Media to the State chairman, Jerry Needam said rather than use government approved funds for road rehabilitations particularly in Bori, Khana Local Government Area, Mr Dakuku diverted the funds for personal use.

To make for the shortfall the PDP further alleged, Mr Dakuku Peterside inflated the contract values of the few roads that were constructed while others were poorly executed, skipping approved guidelines and specifications which left the roads highly vulnerable.

The PDP said it has facts and figures to prove Mr Dakuku committed the crime and enriched himself at the expense of the people’s welfare and challenged him to a public debate if he feels the allegations are not true. Part of the misappropriated funds the PDP insists, accounts for the massive wealth of the APC guber candidate which is suspect and underserved of a faultless public servant.
The PDP believes the only reason Mr Dakuku Peterside is seeking the office of Governor is to consolidate on this illegitimately acquired wealth and those of his sponsors and benefactors.

The only way to stop this madness and tendency to corrupt is to vote against the APC and whatever it stands for, the PDP noted. It would be recalled that Mr. Dakuku Peterside has continued to deceive those not privileged to know him well and how he conducted himself as State Commissioner for Works under outing Gov. Amaechi as though he was a performer.
The remnants of the poorly constructed roads and those totally abandoned in Bori are still there for all eyes to see, the PDP declared.

I used to have very high regards for Mr Agbaje, until the above statement. If Mr. Agbaje telling the over 60million registered Nigerian voters that they must vote for Jonathan out of fear of Ijaw militants? Is he saying people should no longer vote out of conviction but out of fear?

I am sure he will be the first to scream Genocide if Buhari is elected and he takes on the militant and their supporters with full military might. If Buhari apply the Odi treatment, all the people talking tough now, will change tone and scream, genocide against defenseless civilians.

Nigeria = Oil
Oil = Niger Delta
Nigeria = Niger Delta.

It was after Obasanjo Bombarded Odi that militancy started in the Niger Delta region. Niger Deltans are not fools anymore, this is 2015 not 2005.

Politics / Shooting Of APC Supporters: PDP Denies Involvement by 401kk: 12:52pm On Jan 07, 2015
The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has denied involvement in the alleged shooting of some persons, claimed to be members of the All Progressives Congress, APC yesterday in Port Harcourt.

The PDP describes members of the APC as pathological lairs, regretting that the outgoing Governor of Rivers State and the Dakuku Peterside Campaign Organisation have kept lying against the PDP in the name of criticism.

The PDP hereby makes bold to say that no member of the party was involved in the alleged shooting of suspected members of the APC.

The Peoples Democratic Party further declares: “Gunmen are not members of the PDP and they are not also working for the PDP. Members of the PDP are God fearing and cannot be part of any activity that will spill blood’’

The PDP urges the APC to settle their internal crisis, which is gradually tearing the APC apart, arising from the imposition of Dakuku Peterside as governorship candidate without due process, and leave the PDP alone.

Rivers people are wiser and cannot yield to APC’s unsalable lies.

The PDP would remain unwavering as we commence our campaigns to introduce our candidates for all coming elections and launch our programmes and policies that would put smiles on the faces of Rivers people.

We would not be distracted by the antics of a failed party, the APC.

Politics / There Is No Agreement On Zoning Of Governorship Position In Rivers State – Wike by 401kk: 7:47am On Dec 04, 2014
A Rivers State PDP Governorship Aspirant, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has declared that he has never participated in any meeting where zoning of the governorship position was agreed upon, saying that he is in the governorship race owing to collective will of the Rivers people. Wike spoke in Port Harcourt during an interactive session with correspondents of national newspapers in Rivers State. He challenged anyone with the records of such an agreement to make it public. He noted that all the claims by some politicians on this issue were their personal opinions. The former Minister of State for Education stated that the spread of his associates and supporters cut across the 23 local government areas of the state, stressing that he would win both the PDP governorship primary and general election all over the state. He said contrary to insinuations in certain quarters, he would not spend his time probing the outgoing administration when elected, as Rivers State was in dire need of development on the fast lane after years of non performance. Asked whether he would commence negotiations with 16 aggrieved governorship aspirants of the PDP, Barrister Wike said the aspirants posed no threat to the victory of PDP, hence there was no need to negotiate with them. He said: “The beauty of democracy is that people are talking. I discuss when there is threat for the PDP. Why should I discuss when the governor bought form for most of them?” Commenting on recent developments in the APC, Barrister Wike stated that the actions of outgoing governor Amaechi had vindicated him, as he had proved that he was not trustworthy by deceiving the Ogoni people after years of promises that he would cede the governorship position to them. He said that Governor Amaechi made the choice of Dakuku Peterside because he was desperate to have an aspirant, who would protect him over his massive financial maladministration, alleged corruption and administrative recklessness. Wike, however, added that Amaechi’s choice had enhanced his chances as he would meet very little opposition across the state in view of his antecedents, performance in previous offices held and insistence on the welfare of all the people of Rivers State. On some political leaders who threatened anarchy if he emerged as the governor, Wike advised Rivers people to disregard their threats as it would amount to nothing. He added that no peaceful leader would use the word anarchy as every society needed peace to develop. The frontline PDP governorship aspirant noted that in a democracy the people should be allowed to decide their choice.

Politics / Rivers PDP Secretariat On Fire. . . by 401kk: 11:59pm On Nov 04, 2014
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Secretariat along Port Harcourt/Aba Expressway in Port Harcourt, has been set on fire in the early hours of today by unknown persons after tying up the security guards on duty. Confirming the fire incident, Jerry Needam, the Special Adviser to Felix Obuah, Chairman of PDP,on Media said early arrival of state fire service helped to put out the fire. Also confirming the fire incident, Obuah said that “An attempt to burn the party secretariat has being carried out by desperate politicians who want the party to postpone the party’s ward and local Government Congresses scheduled to take place tomorrow, Saturday. They have failed because arrangements have concluded and we are going ahead. Nobody can stop it. PDP will come tops”. “We have watching on news of some desperate politicians threatening the party.” Obuah said. The fire incident is happening less than 24 hours after 15 governorship aspirants held a mega rally insisting on rotation of power in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the Liberation Stadium. Many of the aspirants urged President Goodluck Jonathan and national leadership to intervene in crisis rocking the state branch of the party allegedly hijacked by the Nyesom Wike, former Minister for Education who also has ambition to be governor. At the time of this report, fire fighters were at scene to put out the fire.

Crime / Biggest Baby Factory Found In Port Harcourt by 401kk: 5:13pm On Aug 20, 2014
Operatives of the Police Special Fraud Unit (SFU) and men of the Rivers State Police Command have uncovered what might be the biggest baby factory in the southern part of Nigeria, where operators allegedly sold babies to women for between N2.5 million and N6 million.

The police are also on the trail of the main suspect, one Emeka Precious Chinyere, who, according to police sources, had been linked to many child trafficking offences uncovered by embassies of foreign countries in Nigeria.

It will be recalled that the police at SFU had about two years ago failed to track down a runaway doctor, after a DNA test on a woman, Esther Soyebo, who attempted to secure an American visa for her baby at the embassy, indicated that she was not the biological mother of the subject.

Politics / Governor Amaechi Clashes With Commissioner Of Police by 401kk: 1:48pm On Aug 19, 2014
The Governor Rotimi Amaechi-led Rivers State Government is on a collision course with the state Commissioner of Police, Tunde Ogunshakin after the police boss warned the governor against campaigning during his ward tours.

The State Government in a statement signed by Commissioner for Information, Mrs Ibim Semenitari, decried the tone of the statement credited to Ogunshakin and said it was concerned about the implication of the same.
Semenitari said the administration of Amaechi considers participation a key element of democratic rule and good governance. As a result, it has consistently embarked on stewardship accountability fora and stock taking since Governor Amaechi assumed office in October 2007.

She stated that “town hall meetings, meet the people tours and engagement with professional groups and other public gatherings is neither novel nor strange with the Amaechi regime. “The alleged comments of the CP appear curious especially coming on the heels of the overtly political purported endorsement of Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike, for governor by some members of the Rumuolumeni community and the visit of the wife of the President (Patience Jonathan) to local government areas in Rivers State. “While the purpose of these obvious political gatherings of the PDP is campaign for 2015, CP Ogunshakin appears unable to see or hear any evil.”

The Rivers State Government says it is conscious of this but wishes to reassure CP Ogunshakin that it is not a brigand nor an irresponsible government. The statement further said Governor Amaechi has clearly stated that the purpose of his ward tours is to find out the impact of his numerous projects on the people at the grassroots and what gaps still exist to enable him cross all t’s and dot all the i’s as his administration finishes its last lap.

The statement assured that Amaechi will not disregard the rules of engagement and that when it is set for campaign, it will be clear not just to the Rivers State police command but to the entire world. “We will not hide our glowing light under a bushel. However, we would wish to respectfully request CP Ogunshakin to be even handed in his caution and ensure that what is sauce for the goose is also sauce for the gander.

Ultimately, the people are his employers and it is first to God and then to Nigeria it’s citizens that he must owe his ultimate allegiance.” Ogushakin took over as Rivers State Commissioner of Police after his predecessor, Mbu Joseph Mbu, had a running battle with Amaechi and was redeployed to FCT, Abuja, following public outcry over his heavy handedness and perceived excesses.
