Politics › Re: The Mediocrity In The Nigerian Government by 401kk: 11:19pm On Feb 01, 2013 |
Afam4eva: I just watched the farewell speech of the US secretary of state, Hillary Clinton and it just hit me that this she contested against Barrack Obama for the democratic ticket but lost. The person she's passing the baton to, John Kerry was also a democratic presidential candidate who contested against George W Bush. This is just a commentary of the level of intellectuals and experienced people that are heading various agencies in the US. President Barack Obama is not necessarily more intelligent than these two people. They're as intelligent and experienced is not more than the current American president. Obama himself knows what these people have got to offer, that's why he's brought them in to solidify and contribute their wealth of experience to the benefit of America. This goes to show that this is a country where the very best hands are sort after irrespective of the differences that may exist between them...
Nigeria on the other hand, is a country where people who don't have the per-requisite knowledge to run a small business find themselves in the corridor of power. We see a situation whereby a relatively experienced person wants to contest to become a president of governor and he picks a dummy(no offense) to be his vice. he picks someone who's just there to be a figure head without having the know-how to run such an office. These people are mostly picked in other not to pose a challenge to the main man. But sometimes something happens and this deputies become the governor of the state leaving the state at the mercy of luck. It happened in Bayelsa with Goodluck Jonathan, and in Oyo with Alao Akala. The very few deputies that have tried to assert their authority have been shown the way out. It happened with that lady that was Tinubu's vice...
Why can't we have a president and a deputy president that are almost at par in intelligence and experience and can compliment each other. They'll rather go to Bayelsa to pick some who has goodluck and which has gotten him to the level that he is and not because he has any precedence in governance. Why will a Yaradua who was the governor of Katsina state and achieved nothing been brought to lead the largest black nation in the world. Are we dummies that someone who said we should learn to live with bokoharam is our president and someone whose wife makes such ridiculous statements as "Ojukwu may be gone but his manhood lives on". is this a joke of a country? When are we going to have the Soyinkas, Fawehimnis, Suludos, Akunyilis, Iwealas, El Rufais, Fasholas, Chimes become the president of this country rather than people who are clueless and have no idea of what it takes to runa country and only want to learn on the job. When are we going to put square pegs in square holes. When are we going to get rid of mediocre in government?
Afam bu Afam What the hell are you talking about? Is Okonjo not a part and parcel of the present government y'all loathe? Others have all occupied public offices and done their bits. |

Amusaopeyemi: Only outside Nigeria can such happen. seedord247: This act is usually praticed in igbo land. You are both wrong. Man Gets Mother-In-Law Pregnant Posted by Information Nigeria in Home » Lifestyle on August 19, 2012 - 11 Comments If Mr Tiamiyu Ibrahim, a 45-year-old mechanic, had been part of the Nigerian contigent to the just concluded London 2012 Olympics, he, probably, would have won a medal for Nigeria. The only snag is that his field of specialisation, ‘bedminton’ was not part of the sporting activities listed for the tournament. IDOWU ADELUSI, in this piece, reports the story of a man who put his mother-in-law in a family way. MRS Aminat Ibrahim’s story appears fictitious, but it is not. The claim of the 40- year-old trader that her husband is the father of a four-month-old baby girl born by her mother leaves one wondering whether Aminat knows the weight of her claim or not. Mrs Ibrahim said she was ashamed and rattled by the development, adding that her unrepentant mother had threatened to curse her for exposing her misdeed. Narrating how love affair developed between her mother and the husband, Mrs Ibrahim said her mother, who lived in a village at Apomu Area of Osun State, had been visiting them regularly at Oje Area of Ibadan where they (couple) lived. She continued, “being my mother, I had no cause to worry, moreso, when she told me that she was assisting me spiritually to become pregnant. “I wedded my husband five years ago without issue. Sometime in February last year, my mother came to visit us and said she would stay with us for a while. “I objected since I was not nursing a baby, but she insisted and said was worried about our childlessness and wanted to help us get over it. When I told my husband he was glad about my mother’s concern. “Being a trader, I always leave home most times at 6.00 a.m for neighbouring towns and villages to buy yam tubers or vegetables and then bring them to the market to sell. I always leave the market at 7 p.m. “My husband is a mechanic. He has his workshop at a place not far from our house. This enabled him to always come home in the afternoon for lunch often prepared by my mother. “After a while, my husband would tell me jokingly that my mother’s soup was delicious than the soup I prepared. “I did not suspect that anything was going on between them. After all, I trusted my husband, besides the woman in question is my mum and not a friend. “In December last year, I noticed that my mother’s belly was protruding. When I demanded to know if she was pregnant, she said yes. She told me further that her man-friend in the village impregnated her, adding that she used to go to the village when everybody in the house had gone out. Our father died long ago. “I advised her to look for accommodation elsewhere but she refused. After exerting much pressure on her to leave our house, she confessed that my husband impregnated her. “I was dazed and almost passed out. She told me that my husband ignited the love affairs. According to the mother, whenever she (the mother) was in the bathroom, the husband would jump in to see her nakédness, pretending to be unaware that she was in the bathroom. Explaining further, the mother said, “each time he came home for lunch, he would play p0 *n ographic films, inviting me to join him in the sitting room to watch it. Mrs Ibrahim added, “According to my mum, while the film was going on, my husband would come to where she was sitting and grabbed her. Even after she had freed herself from him and run to stay in the kitchen, my husband would still go to meet her and that was how he started having séx with her. “My mother told me that she agreed to his demand since it was just to satisfy him and protect my marriage. Moreso, she never thought she could get pregnant again at 57 years. “My mother explained further that my husband stopped going to work on Saturdays in order to stay with her at home. She told me that four attempts were made to terminate the foetus because she was ashamed but each attempt was unsucceesful. The woman revealed that when she confronted her husband on the issue, the husband told her to take it easy because she was still childless. Her word: “My husband told me that it was my mother who séduced him by always staying nakéd in the room knowing that he could come into the room anytime since they are living in a room and palour apartment. “He told me not to bother him much on the matter since I don’t have any child for him.” |

Christianity Etc › Re: Agnosticism Not Atheism by 401kk: 10:54pm On Dec 31, 2012 |
There is a difference in atheism and agnosticism, but they are not mutally exclusive concepts... they simply address two different concepts. Where agnosticism addresses knowledge, atheism addresses belief. Agnosticism is the philosophy that the existence of a god or gods is something that is not known, cannot be known, or is inherently unknowable. Atheism is, as you said, a lack of belief in any god. So, an agnostic atheist might say, "No, I don't "know" for sure that there is no god, but being that there is no evidence, I see no reason to believe." An agnostic can also be a theist in the same way. Agnosticism doesn't stand alone as a position on the spectrum of belief, in my opinion, though some people seem intent on making that so. Some dictionaries even define it as "neither believing nor disbelieving". If one actually stops to think about this, one will see it's impossible. Just as you either know something or you don't, you either believe or you don't. There's no such thing as neither knowing nor not knowing, and there's no such thing as neither believing nor disbelieving, either. The "neither believe nor disbelieve" thing doesn't even fit in with the etymology of the word, which is "a" meaning without and "gnostic" meaning knowledge. Agnosticism has been, from its conception, a philosophy concerning knowledge, not belief. |

Men will (most of the time)prefer to marry virgins for various obvious reasons which I don't have the time list out.
But In this sexually active society, being a true virgin is a meaningless condition, because men love sex. AIDs and dying has not slowed people down one second. Marriage is an obsolete arrangement because women are more self-sufficent now, so who cares if she is a virgin. Unfortunately in the Black community, Black girls have sex so early that they are considered virgins if they have less than two children. |

cap28: Still whining huh! its obvious you've been let down ad nauseam by various women - perhaps you need to do a little soul searching.
are you one of those weak men who seek out trophy girlfriends in order to prop up your fragile ego - remember that in order to retain a trophy girlfriend you must have money and status and at least two of the following :
good looks sense of humour caring attitude
dont ever delude yourself into thinking that a trophy woman in the western world will bother with you if you dont have any of the above.
maybe your real problem is that you are focusing on superficial and fake women who quite frankly prefer men with status and money.
if you are living in a delusional world like sagamite you can carry on chasing shadows but if you want to be happy in life you need to go for women with a similar outlook on life as yourself.
You need to stop being bitter and learn to study women, men who care about women are not manginas they are smart and decent men who know what is important - would you call mark zuckerberg a mangina ? a young man who married his harvard class mate who is not exactly a beauty queen? why didnt he kick her to the kerb and look for a playboy centrefold ? imagine if your dad had the attitude you are exhibiting on this forum how many women of your mum's generation would be married? do you think men of that generation did not chase women and show them chivalry and respect? Why should men study women, do women study men? Do women even care about men? WTF! |

Its mostly anambra families that don't allow their sons to marry from imo state. I'm yet to understand the reason behind this. If its about wedding expenses, I don't think that's a good reason because there are other tribes and states with higher bride prices, wedding costs. . . Like the Ikwerres, Kalabari's and others in Rivers state. Imo girls are no less or not more disrespectful, promiscuous or homely than other igbo girls. Igbo girls are Igbo girls. Whatever they say about imo won't stop from getting married every weekend in their hundreds. |

Being a state governor is very different from being a president. Though I'm not trying undermine or downplay his achievements and pedigree, but I honestly believe he will not perform to our expected yardstick if he becomes president. He should endeavour to engage in other meaningful political activities after 2015. |
