Can anyone help me please?, I will pay in naira
Why not request for any of the courier services here in Nigeria to do a pick up for you(thats if your school gives approval for pick ups) it's cheaper rather than using eshipglobal i no UPS charge 23k and it arrives within 4 working days

Congratulations. I must have sighted you in the hall but didn't take note of the person after me.

That guy does not have problem.

Our aunty, the black lady, on window 2 was doing what she knows how to do best. She was the first that came and rejected the first lady, the second lady told her she has interviewed her before and requested to be interviewed by another officer, the VO took her passport to confirm what the lady said and asked the security guy to direct her to another window after the confirmation.

F1 and F2 Visas approved this morning. We were the third to be interviewed by a guy with headphone; he granted the first and denied the second guy, the first was a lady and her young son for B1/B2 and the guy was for F1.
Once he was done with the guy, he signaled us and Wifee and I stepped forward.

Us: Good morning

VO: Good morning

VO: Your documents

Me: I passed both passports and I 20s

VO: Which school are you going to?

Me: I am going to the UConn School of Business in Hartford, CT

VO: So what will you be doing after the program

Me: So I presently work in the investment management industry, I will be returning to Nigeria to work briefly in the investment management industry and later set up my own investment management firm.

VO: Why did you choose this school?

Me: I just smiled, first the program fits my interest, I work in the investment management industry and I am going for an MBA with a concentration in investment management. So I applied to four schools and got admitted into two, so my other reasons will be relative. The other school I got admitted to is in Boston, so it is more expensive to live in Boston than Hartford, I got a Graduate Assistantship that comes with complete tuition waiver, monthly stipend and a subsidized health insurance which is better than the $65,000 scholarship I got for the entire duration of the program in Boston and lastly, both programs have a student management fund, the Program in Boston has an Asset under Management of about $500,000 while the program in Hartford has an AUM of about $2,000,000. The advantage of working with a larger fund is that it allows you to invest in more stocks and sectors therefore increasing your experience.

VO: He faced my wife and asked “will you be staying with your husband for the entire duration of the program or you will be travelling in between?” (This was the only question she was asked).

Wife: I will be staying with him all through sir.

VO: Now facing me, how did you know about this Program?

Me: So the schools I applied to all match my interest, I used the FT 100 MBA ranking and the US News ranking I combined them with insights I got from several orientation from the Education USA and The MBA Tour held on October 7, 2017 in Lagos.

VO: I can see that you got a loan

Me: Yes, from MPower Finance.

VO: Do you have kids?

Me: No

VO: When will you be travelling?

Me: I will be travelling by the end of this month, so the orientation is scheduled for August 13, 2018. (Wifee told me on our way home that it is next month and not this month, so it was a mistake on my part)

VO: I have approved your Visas

Me: Thank you sir

Thanks to everyone on this thread, what is going on here is priceless.

Can one cancel an appointment, fill a new DS160 form then re-book an appointment?

This is because I filled SELF in the DS160 form where it was ask that "who is paying for the trip". But i actually have a sponsor. The sponsor's name is on my I20.

Note: I thought trip was flight ticket

Thanks and Amen!!!

On the scholarship, I am still responsible for about $10,000 per annum after the GA stipend so the courses you mentioned are still better as you can get funding that would more than cover for all your expenses.

On MBAs with good funding, check Carey in Arizona and UMass, armherst, your tuition is automatically waived if you are admitted. You can get full funding in Fisher College of Business, Ohio through what they call scholarship for Africa and in Haas, Berkeley through the master card foundation scholarship.

So for the bright and determined, you can go to school in the US for almost free.

I'm new to nairaland but I've been following this thread on and off for about a year now and I'm sure the information I've been able to gather so far will be invaluable. I'm finally ready to begin my admission journey and I'd like some "personalized" advice, if you will. Here's my profile:
First degree: Pharmacy; 3.44/4
TOEFL: 112
GRE: 319 (Verbal: 166, Quant: 153, AW: 4)
What are my chances of getting into a good to decent school in the US for a Master's degree degree in Pharmacology or a related course with full funding? The funding aspect is critical as I'm currently making peanuts doing my youth service and my family can't really afford to sponsor an MSc abroad. Would I be better off (with regards to funding) pursuing a direct entry PhD? I'd prefer the MSc because of the 2 year exit option if I decide academia isn't for me, but I'm open to either.
Also, I'm considering retaking the GRE. Would my prospects be appreciably improved with a higher GRE score (Especially in the quantitative and AW sections)?
Lastly, I'm finding the prospect of wading through dozens of American schools rather daunting and I'd appreciate any school suggestions anyone might have to facilitate things, as well as any tips on how to whittle down the selection.
I really appreciate the work all the experienced posters have been putting in here to help us clueless newbies, lol. Thanks for all the help.

@Senate111
@Adex0802
@bigfrancis - I'm not sure if you're a student there but you seem to know stuffs about TAMUC. kindly help

First, your profile is good and since you are not considering Engineering, your quantitative score should be fine. Don't waste your time rewriting the GRE, your AW is decent too.

Secondly, I will like to correct the impression that doing a PHd means you have to work in Academia, that impression might be true if you plan to go back to Nigeria but in America and other developed countries, you dont have to. Many companies are recruiting Phd holders and a Phd might also give you more opportunities to getting PR.

Thirdly, you might find it hard to see anybody that will suggest schools to you because I feel like your course is not common on this thread, however you might want to talk to Imperiouxx, he might have one or two suggestions for you since his field is the closest to yours that I know of. The onus still falls on you to do an extensive research on schools you will like to apply to and schools that have more probability of getting funding at.

You still have the time now because most schools won't open their portals for Fall 2019 application until September. Get to work, use linkedin to connect with international students and ask questions, make google your companion and you will be amazed with the kind of information you will get. You can have a mix of Msc and Phd applications. Check for your course ranking and peruse through the list one after the other, YOU HAVE THE TIME. Cheers

Good evening all,
I am new to this platform and from what I’ve read this is an impressive online community. Kudos to you all.
I however have an inquiry to make, recently I tried imputing my receipt number while trying to schedule an interview/appointment but it resulted in an interview waiver, which is contrary to what I paid for. I followed through all the questions prompted dutifully, and I’m surprised how this happened. Please is there anyone who may have experienced this or anyone who can hint on how this can be rectified?

Thanks.

Is your appointment too close? If not, you don't need to cancel it. Simply fill out a new DS160/duplicate the old one and correct it, submit the new DS160 and update the confirmation number on your visa profile page.

You have good scores and a strong GPA. You do stand a good chance of admission.

Since you're health inclined (and for others who are health-inclined), are you aware that a master's degree in rehabilitation science or in Physical Therapy (Doctor of Physical Therapy) could make you eligible for a green card under the Schedule A Occupation category (advanced nurses, Physical Therapists etc.)? Would you consider furthering your studies in the above instead? Green cards are available for people in this category due to a shortage of specialists in this category.

Hello everyone, I was at the embassy this morning and I need to share my transcript eventhough I was placed on AP by the nice guy at Window10 or so...

I was the 5th person to be attended to, overall. While I was the first to be attended to by the guy VO, he also uses earpiece too (cause i noticed someone said one VO use earpiece). Before I continue, let me use this opportunity to encourage those who are waiting for their interviews. Please let us all appreciate the value of this thread. if not, lots of us would have lost it in interviews. And in additional, someone on this thread has shared/warned us about these tout people at the car park arena, they have nothing to offer u except collecting ur money for unnecessary document arrangement and photocopies.....U don't need it, anything u need to arrange would be announced by the people working for the embassy when you are on screening queue. These touts even rent chairs for people to sit at the rate of 200naira, a friend who was waiting for me alerted me.. Pls let's take note...

While on the queue, a fine lady came to separate us into two categories - Immigrant and Non-immigrant applicants.
She announced - Bring out ur passport, DS-160 confirmation page, Appointment, Your i-20, GTBank receipt and Your SEVIS FEE (To be on safer side bring along ur 2x2 photo passport u might need it "I didn't use mine though"wink all these are the things u need and the embassy workers will tell you how to arrange it or what to do...
Funny.... I was number 5 on queue and only 3 VOs are already on sit including our dear black aunty, mama blue paper at Window 7... Na so prayer start.. God u know i am in ur hand, give me not Window 7, i am black already let no blackwoman interview me here biko... grin
