Gurus...I've been offered admission into a 2-year Master's degree, but I just got my I20 and the program duration is stated as August 2018 - Dec 2021 (about 40 months). Is this normal or do I need to request for a new I20? I've sent my school an email regarding this but I'm yet to get a reply. Thanks.

Hello everyone, I was at the embassy this morning and I need to share my transcript eventhough I was placed on AP by the nice guy at Window10 or so...

I was the 5th person to be attended to, overall. While I was the first to be attended to by the guy VO, he also uses earpiece too (cause i noticed someone said one VO use earpiece). Before I continue, let me use this opportunity to encourage those who are waiting for their interviews. Please let us all appreciate the value of this thread. if not, lots of us would have lost it in interviews. And in additional, someone on this thread has shared/warned us about these tout people at the car park arena, they have nothing to offer u except collecting ur money for unnecessary document arrangement and photocopies.....U don't need it, anything u need to arrange would be announced by the people working for the embassy when you are on screening queue. These touts even rent chairs for people to sit at the rate of 200naira, a friend who was waiting for me alerted me.. Pls let's take note...

While on the queue, a fine lady came to separate us into two categories - Immigrant and Non-immigrant applicants.
She announced - Bring out ur passport, DS-160 confirmation page, Appointment, Your i-20, GTBank receipt and Your SEVIS FEE (To be on safer side bring along ur 2x2 photo passport u might need it "I didn't use mine though"wink all these are the things u need and the embassy workers will tell you how to arrange it or what to do...
Funny.... I was number 5 on queue and only 3 VOs are already on sit including our dear black aunty, mama blue paper at Window 7... Na so prayer start.. God u know i am in ur hand, give me not Window 7, i am black already let no blackwoman interview me here biko... grin

Hi guys is this normal/fine:

My program is for 24 months, however my I-20 states 37 months. I contacted the school and I was informed that "All I-20s say 37 months so in case there is a problem or any reason why someone needs to take a bit longer to complete the program then they will be covered. As soon as you graduate, your Visa expires after a 60 day grace period unless you have applied for OPT"

Will this fly during my interview, if queried?

Sorry please what do they mean by the question, "person/entity paying for the trip?"

I chose self as the answer, actually it's my parents sponsoring buh d money wud b paid thru my account.

Hope am on the right track?

who is paying for your trip is your sponsor and not you... you both don't need to cancel your appointments just informed the VO that you made a mistake when filling the form and saw it after submitting the form @myright .
PS you don't have to submit your ds160 immediately you can just get the Ds160 code to book and use it to edit it later before submission cause it's valid for a month

the VO are conversant with this. just know the official duration of your program but if asked further you can say your school included OPT period (I doubt if they gonna dig further).

Quota is some thing different

There is a "rumor" because I don't know if it confirmed.

For F1 who have been recently denied / refused visa , when you try to reschedule it blocks you and say no appointment is available. So technically not allowing anyone who has been refused to apply within 6 months

Please I have the same issue of not getting rescheduled appointment dates, even today 30-06-2018 that was made known on the US embassy Nigeria Facebook page that only student visas will be able to make appointments. It's not available ooooo yet... I don't know what's going on.
I have called the customer care lines, only got response that availability is only at the discretion of the Consular.
My dashboard is not displaying any calendar. I have filled a new DS160 form n location now is Lagos.
I don't know if I am the only one having this issue.

I have been on this platform for a while and i have learned so much from peoples experiences in their visa interviews.
I had mine today and my visa was approved.

Below is my Transcript

****

*We said good morning to each other*
VO: Pass me your passport and I20 please
Me: "OK". *I pass both to him*
VO: What course are you going to study in the US?
ME: I will be studying Information Systems and Management
VO: Why do you want to study this course?
ME: I have an avid interest in tech and a strong tech background. I also have a degree in Physics and I currently work as a telecoms Engineer. I am working on building a career as a systems analyst and this course will be relevant to my career path. ( I actually prepared something more comprehensive to say but everything was just jumbled up in my head).
VO: How long is your program?
Me: The program is for 21 months. I should graduate by May 2020
VO: Who will be sponsoring you?
ME: My Aunt. I also have some personal savings which I intend to invest in my education (my I20 shows both my aunt and myself as sponsors)
VO: What does your aunt do? (I dint hear him quite well at first so i asked him to please repeat).
ME: She is the COO of ***** and she owns a couple of Gas fill plants in Lagos
VO: *Nods head*

*I even received a housing scholarship but i forgot to mention that* What tension can cause.

VO: Are you married?
ME: No im not married
VO: Do you have any children?
Me: No I dont
VO: Types some things into his computer and says "I will be approving your visa, you will be contacted with 2 to 3 business days to pick up your passport (He circles the location on the white paper)

I came out feeling like I was walking on air.
I expected many more questions or even request for statement but he didn't ask for any thing else.
I wish everyone the best

Congratulations

Good day everyone. I just got admitted to Valencia College Florida and that’s the only school I applied for. I wrote waec since 2006 and jamb won’t give admission so I’ve been working for my uncle. Now he wants to sponsor me plus I’ve already been denied visa at the italian embassy. I really don’t know how things would turn out but I’m hopeful everything would yield positivity. I need advice on how to prepare myself for the interview. Thanks

VO; She cuts in, How many schools did u apply to, name them?
YB; 2. Concordia University Wisconsin and UIC.
VO; Why UIC
YB; It offers a well structured research-centric curriculum which aligns with my career aspiration to become a Neuro rehabilitation specialist. In addition, there is an ongoing research at the BPL to improve function in stroke individuals
VO; She cut in again, what will this course do for you?
YB; As a physiotherapist, it will further improve my Research and Clinical Skills, The knowledge acquired will be used to improve

Why not request for any of the courier services here in Nigeria to do a pick up for you(thats if your school gives approval for pick ups) it's cheaper rather than using eshipglobal i no UPS charge 23k and it arrives within 4 working days

Is she black lady? My brother was interviewed today by a black lady but he was not given in Abuja.
ybahrbz91:
Good Morning House.
Well, I was hoping to share the 'white-paper' news but I guess it is not yet my time.
I was interviewed by a lady VO in one inner room. She wasn't smiling
YB; After greeting her
VO; She responded with pass me your Passport and I-20
VO; Where are you going in the US
YB; University of Illinois for my Masters in Rehabilitation Science.
VO; How did you know about the skul
YB; I did an extensive search on the internet on schools offering Master in Rehabilitation Science and came across an ongoing research at the Brain Plasticity Laboratory of the University of Illinois
VO; She cut in again, who is sponsoring you
YB; My dad
VO; What does he do?
YB; An estate surveyor and valuer
VO; Can I have his statement of Account
YB; I passed it to her
VO; This is company's account, let me have his personal account
YB; I gave her the supporting letter indicating he is the sole signatory to the account.
VO; She checked both I-20 and the Statement of Account and asked how many staffs does he have?
YB; I wasn't preparing for that. I said 5
VO; She then asked how does he intend to continue to pay salaries after paying my tution.
YB; I said the amount on the I-20 was just an estimated expenses and am I not be paying up to that.
VO; Do you have a kid
YB; I said am not married
VO; Do you have a kid
YB; None
VO; Do you have any relative in the US
YB; None.
VO;She typed for some time and gave me the blue paper.
YB; I was already expecting it cuz I noticed her countenance doing the statement of account questions.
Regardless of being delayed, I sincerely appreciate everyone's effort here for their contribution.

Can you please enlighten me why VO would asked a first time visa applicant whether he has applied before?

It was the last question asked before telling him sorry as they used to say.
