Greetings everyone. My name is Kris and I reside in Anambra.
There's this growing trend which is affecting myself and my family - Early morning preachers.
These people have made my life a living hell.
Sometimes as early as 4:30am these people wake you up with loudspeakers.
Problem is that sometimes I get back late and sleep late and barely have enough hours to sleep before starting a new day. Sometimes my baby keeps us awake till the early hours of the morning and just when we're about to catch some sleep, they arrive.. Sometimes 3 different groups preach at the same time.
I now have frequent headaches and have developed some form of early morning anxiety (i dread the noise of the megaphone).
Please what do I do? Is this a matter for the police(as I feel they're disturbing public peace) or do I just see a doctor to help me cope with my sleep problems.
Your advice will be appreciated. Thanks
you and others around that area should give ur lifes fully to christ. If u do that, they will not have to come there to preach to u again because their mission would have been completed.

Inconsiderate is the new word for Christianity.

There are at least 3 "churches" on every Nigerian street in the southern part of Nigeria. Each has megaphones facing the street.

And at least one night vigil with heavy metallic music and loud singing in the middle of the night especially on weekends.

Oga, there's no solution o. Just buy ear plugs to block their stupidity.

You can go for "isolate". It's a wonderful ear plug. Google it.

Noise pollution is very dangerous to Health and lack of adequate quality sleep is a major health hazard.

Mature counseling of the offender preachers is required. But in Anambra State this may be difficult.

Get your own megaphone/loudspeaker and start playing loud hiphop music. Since every one wants to be lawless. You can take it a step higher by playing moaning sounds from porn, if any body is bothered tell them you will only stop when the other three idiots preachers stop. angry angry

Re: Early Morning Preachers Have Made My Life Miserable by deyemia: 7:34am On Jul 07, 2018
I have three suggestions in addition to the one above me.

1 - You can also get a megaphone and counter them when dey come with reasons why dey should move elsewhere.

2 - The truth is, the main cause of those preachings is poverty. If you give the preacher 500k or 1m, they will go a start a business and let your family be.

3 - Time when dey normally finish and approach them, pray you meet someone reasonable.

One should work fine

Anambra is notorious for those early morning preachers with their horrible voices .Just like dominique said you need to involve other people in your neighbourhood and the police I am not sure what the law says about public noise in Anambra but I know some states have very strong laws about it.

While you try involving your neighbours ,you need to find better ways to sleep, you can eat fresh cucumbers or drink green tea.Just make yourself comfortable and sleep. If you want to resolve the issue the gangster way when they start their preaching put on your music set and fix a loudspeaker outside and make a louder noise they will get the message .

Three preaching at the same time? That's serious! The way people take religious matter, one would think they're no evil people in this country but na lie, na them wicked pass. Sorry your plight op, continuous sleep deprivation can affect your physical and mental health. You need to have a chat with these preachers and let them know how all that preaching is taking a toll on your health. They don't have to use loudspeakers to pass their messages accross. It's advisable to involve key members of your neighbourhood in the dialogue.
involving members of his neighbourhood is even worse as they will him a wizard. We r too religious so it's better for him to relocate.

If you go chat with the preachers as someone down there suggested, they might call you an agent of darkness and begin to bind and cast you as if you are a demon from hell.

Move for a law against that practice in your state House of Assembly. Evangelization does not mean disturbing the sleep of the children of God.

Instead of you to join them in preaching the gospel you are there complaining...are you not a Christian?

His being a christian does not give other christians the right to disturb public peace with loudspeakers and deprive people sleep at 4 am in the morning.

Heck, even his baby cant sleep well again due to noise.
And you think it's healthy

If a muslim was the one preaching with loudspeaker at 4am, i wonder what you would say

Drop your religious sentiments and face reality.

Bro consider getting hear plugs(a soft formy stuff mainly used in noisy plants and oil and gas industries) it cancels out any external noise or at worst reduce it to the minimum. Get the type that will sit into the hear well and you get some releive.

This won't work as long as there's a baby in the house. Baby's are yet to understand adult sleep patterns till they clock 30 months.

what are you still waiting for?

call police on them immediately.

because of their useless christianity they will be disturbing the whole peace and they think it is their right to be doing that?

nonsense. sad angry

time someone should be enjoying the last quarter of sleep which incidentally also happens to be the sweetest part of sleep, some useless persons will be outside promoting their useless christianity to people who are still sleeping.

is that not stupidity?

if i have decided to go to hell, tell me, is it your hell?

foolish people.

call police for them abeg. lipsrsealed undecided

Mathew 22:35-40
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.
Mark 12:28-34
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

All of you asking him if he is a Christian, that he should give his life to Christ, that he should be thankful that he is listening to undiluted gospel are really sounding disappointing.
Let me ask a simple question, if you go to a night vigil 9 pm-3 am and you got home to sleep, and the neighborhood becomes noisy, will you be happy?

are u not a xtian? u shd b happy cos u are now taking double double preaching, no more need to go to church or pay tithes.
on a serious note, wake up and talk to them or have a street meeting with ur neighbors ,so u guys set up some form of neighborhood watch who will b confronting these ppl. If all that can't work, then hire some fake or real security men who can threaten n intimidate them
Do u even listen to urself at all, moon brother i guess.

In my opinion, I believe that no one has the right to disturb other people with their religion especially when it is detrimental to their health. My advice is that u should consult the stakeholders in that community concerning this issue and through them, the issue can be resolved. If not, please u have the right to report at a police station. We are all humans and we have different schedules.
I am a Christian and will not tolerate it if someone disrupts my sleep those early hours cos I hardly sleep early.
It is not the noise that we make that determines the rate at which people accept religion. If it were to be based on that, there will be no evil in Nigeria.
Just my humble opinion though.

I’ve experienced this and it’s totally frustrating.
If I still lived in Nigeria, I wouldn’t mind shooting at them to scare them away. They can go call their useless police if they feel threatened by that.

I will tell you what to do. Locate their houses and one early morning say on Sundays, get your own loudspeaker, go close to their house and blast your favorite music as early as 4am till 6am . Do this for 3 Sundays and when they approach you tell them how you feel about them disturbing your sleep.
Hahahaha. Bad guy

I've said this times without number, Christianity isn't the problem, the problem is illiteracy. If we all continue to look at the religious side of it, we'll never get an ultimate solution.

You sure can have your way by instructing them to stay away from your community but I hope you'll have the same courage when the traditionalists (Oro) come around to do exact act and even enforce a sit at home rule on your wife and female offspring just as it is being done in Ikorodu?

Our lack of proper education is the reason we don't know the effect of sleep deprivation on mental health. We are too tied to biblical knowledge we forget the things that binds our existence because of poor and low quality education.

To find a lasting solution, treat the issue just as you've posted here. Do not fight like you're fighting Christians or religion. If you take this like you're fighting Christianity, Moslems or Oro worshippers will enforce a sit at home rule on you, block your road, and you'll be too weak to act. Those in your neighborhood should join hands together and fight the "nuisance", not Christianity.
