Thank you  both for the replies and Sista you are absolutely right. I know better, but I did it out of the love of my heart.  No acct./bank info. was given to him. Sent 100 us dollar cash because he requested it that way.  Maybe I will just delete him and never answer his calls. Instead of plans to marry, I am sure he was planning to get more and then disappear and I would never hear from him again. So l am lucky it was a small price to pay for a big-ass wakeup call.  For all the women looking for love-please, please BE AWARE!

@9ja4eva

How are you doing sweetie?

@Kya

Maybe I will just delete him and never answer his calls.

Very good idea Kya. If you continue to talk to him, he will surely try and do his best to convince you that he is not trying to scam you and it is just the bad image of Nigeria that you are afraid of and how it's so unfair to him and so forth. If he does that, don't believe him. No good man would try to make a woman feel guilty because she wants to be careful about giving her money to someone she does not know, a good man would understand and a good man would not have asked you for money in the first place. What does he expect you to do? Invest your money into him and he will be the return on your investment? Meanwhile, what will he do to show you that he is willing to invest in you? Talk sweet to you and fill your imagination with thoughts of marriage? Please.

It should be going both ways, you should not have to do all the risk taking, a woman should not have to pay for a prospective husband.

Instead of plans to marry, I am sure he was planning to get more and then disappear and I would never hear from him again.

Yeah, and it is no telling how many other women he is doing this to. He has a web cam as you said so he must be a professional. He has money to pay for a web cam and a computer but he doesn't have money to take care of his self? l guess his computer and web cam is the investment he made towards the career he has in scamming women.

So l am lucky it was a small price to pay for a big-ass wakeup call. For all the women looking for love-please, please BE AWARE!

Sweet heart, you are right, you did pay a small price but you are smart, you know that in your heart you were not going to be so naive as to send even more money so be proud of yourself. wink I would advise you not to look for love on line, you nver know what you are getting into. If you want to meet some Good African men, I am sure there are some in your area especially Nigerian men, they are everywhere wink

Don't stop coming to Nairaland now that you got your advice, keep coming back okay?

Akpabuyo Village Fumes Over Election Materials In Shrine

http://www.independentngonline.com/?c=116&a=25322

Inhabitants of Akwa Obio Inwang village in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River State have alleged desecration of their shrine over a large quantity of election materials reportedly dumped there by an official of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The chief priest said the community shrine had been desecrated and insisted that the INEC in the state should perform the necessary rituals before evacuating the materials.

He said the gods of the community were already annoyed and will start taking drastic actions against INEC staff any moment from now.

The materials were allegedly dumped at the Ekpe shrine during the governorship and House of Assembly elections held on April 14, 2007. They include INEC stamps, ink pad, voters register, bags, ballot boxes and papers meant for the elections.

We gathered that the presiding officer said he was going for the result sheets for the elections in the polling centres within the community and did not return until about 9p.m, about six hours after polling had ended. But at the polling centres, the voters and community youths were said to have insisted on him producing the result sheets before voting would commence.

We also learnt that when the presiding officer returned to the shrine to pick up the materials about 9pm, he was prevented from doing so by the youths, who have since been keeping vigil over the materials.

The chief priest of the shrine, who identified himself as Obong Ekpe, told journalists at the weekend that "this is the first time somebody can be bold enough to dump voting materials or anything foreign in our shrine without recourse to the terrible implications that can accompany such act."

Chief Ekeng Ewah Henshaw, who acted as interpreter to the chief priest, said the materials were dumped there by the presiding officer, who he said claimed they would be safe there until he returns with the result sheets for the elections.

When our correspondent contacted the INEC office in Calabar, no official agreed to officially comment on the issue. But a top personnel said they were not aware of any election materials dumped in any shrine anywhere in the state.

So what are these articles from PM News & co. designed to achieve?? Chrisokw/Docokwy etc. seems to be a specialist in posting articles that denigrate every other ethnic group, except his own. Xtycod delights in doing the same thing. For every article posted in this thread, with a slant that casts aspersions on another ethnic group, there are more that can be called up, which would also put your own ethnic group in a bad light.

Its' sad really.  lipsrsealed People hardly ever learn.

I was saying those accusing the Ibos of giving Nigeria a bad name should know its not only the Ibos.
You're such an arrogant cow its unbelievable.

Na wetin? Name calling doesn't add value to the points being made. All this 'Yoruba' did that and 'Igbo' did this, isn't going to get us very far. How I wish people would sit down, think deeply & give logical solutions to the issue at hand.

With the exception of very few folks in the house who see crime as a vice that cuts across all cultures, most of the other posters have left the issue at hand and are just slinging mud at everyone else. Na real wa!

The same slowpoke was going on about how we shouldnt be fingerpointing each other and stuff about unity yada yada and in the SAME SENTENCE did the same stupid thing the OP of the thread did. Apparently my pointing out his idiocy and hypocrisy annoyed him. Wish I gave a shit. Really.

Now he's going on "oh I just wanted to show that not only Igbos partake in it blah blah", how the hell does that correlate with his first statement. oponu oshi. Btw it's kind of embarrassing when people can't even spell the name of their tribe correctly.

When you hear these people on TV talk about fraudsters, have you ever heard "blah blah tribe of people commited blah blah offence", last I checked when they mentioned that medicaid fraud in Texas, they said NIGERIANS, not certain tribe of Nigerians. So all of you whining and making up crap about other people. No one cares. All they care and consider is the fact that it's Nigerians that are doing these things.

We can all go a long way in changing the views of outsiders about our country, i personally don't think what is portrayed is wholely accurate many times, and i am one for '' lets not mind what is expected, lets do what is good , for us , our way'' . Lets do away with accepting all things corrupt, many atimes we settle for less from our leaders to our very homes, when something is bad lets be gracious enough to accept it is and CHANGE IT!. NIGERIA IS ONE COUNTRY OF MANY PEOPLE, YORUBA, IGBO, HAUSA, EDO(ME grin), ETC  nobody rejects his or her own arm or leg, lets just cut all this ethnic rubbish plsssssssssssssssssssssssssss for the sake of our generation and the next, jor, biko, la`or, abeg una. I like how sisimose felt the need to bitch about my posts like she ALWAYS does yet didnt say a word to Tornazdo and what he said about me. Anyone that isnt trying to be a mere hypocrite like yourself would be able to tell that I'm merely responding to the dude.
Didnt you say you were going to avoid my posts from now on? How about you do the noble thing and keep your damn promises. This is the second time you've made such a promise and failed to stand by it. A man is nothing if he cant keep his word, you know. Btw your post here has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand.

anyway, Congrats on whatever it is you found, Sista. By all means have a drink on me.

darling i never made any promise to you, only person i make promises to is my husband, we are not romantically linked are we? . I will not ignore any post on NL, it is public forum i will respond when i like , i was hoping to make you see the error in your way. The thing is i see no need in insults, no need, many ppl manage to butt heads on NL without insults, many ! Being a public forum i find it annoying to give a post my attention only to see cursing and fighting, and i am not alone in that thought.

how come you never told me to ignore you yesterday when i agreed with one of your posts? whenever you make a great contribution to any post without the agression and bile i happily engage, even when i know you hate my guts, i dont dislike you at all. i think you are smart and need to use ur smarts more effectively. You can ignore me if you wish , just afford all other ppl the curtesy of enjoying Nl without the fighting.

Keep the peace kiss

In the thread with choogtin, you said that you would ignore my posts because apparently all i do is bait people now you are saying something else. Lucky for you the thread was deleted else i would have quoted you.

And the point is________ Just what exactly??   angry How does this post relate to what Oprah said about Nigerians on her show? I weak o! Maybe we should pull up an article about all the other shrines in your own neck of the woods, and place it side-by-side with this one you have posted up here, so that everyone can spot the difference.

Why people cannot make rational, logical, illuminating, civilised contributions to a topic, without digressing or descending into the mud to pull out utter gibberish, still beats me. shocked  Anyway, those who said 'common sense ain't common', were right!

Firstly, the ethnic thing is a natural in any case, believe me if it was a yoruba man that was named it would have been yoruba people that would heve been credited with all the compliments the ibo are recieving on this thread. To state it clearly, for me if the nigerian federation should split to yoruba, ibo and hausa, that would not be the end instead we would look for other dividing factors like ibadan- ondo- ekiti and the like. The fact that nigerians are fraudsters is ina way true because for as many as grew up here, we think of corruption as a way of life and this is not because we are hausa or yoruba or ibo, it's because we are nigerian. How many of us if we get stopped for some legitimate traffic offence would rather follow due process? instead we think why dont we just pay the police man and go our way. If you can follow due process then you can speak but until then let us not claim to be holy yoruba or hausa of efik or anyhting else. The slander on nigerians is universal to an outsider. they wont ask if you are ibo after being nigerian, or so i think.

But I would like to ask ,I know that prejudice against other people usually has a historical perspective apart from the insecurity and lack of self esteem that propagates it( eg racism)
Does anybody know the historical background of the animosity between Igbos and Yorubas.
Please this is a serious request seeing that the thread has drifted from the topic to a tribal war cry

We are now helping to furter damage the image of our beloved country on the net cry cry cry
