Since its the private sector's problem because electricity in Nigeria has been privatized, why not mandate the private company to give constant electricity? instead of giving constant bills without giving electricity to compensate for it. Something is wrong somewhere.

The Power Ministry is a regulator. If you scrap it you will end up paying through your nose to get electricity from the providers as there will be no oversight on price gouging....and then you will turn around and blame it on Buhari for scrapping the regulation that kept them in check
U already have d national electricity regulatory commission. What are they still regulating at d ministry of power

I have been paying exorbitant estimated Nepa bills and you said its not government fault?May be i should pay more.Nonsence

How is it government's fault when Goodluck Jonathan has sold the core processes of electricity to businessmen.

When MTN bleeps you up, do you blame the minister of communications?

A plea for help!

I have been asthmatic and at the same time battling with stomach ulcer which has caused me my job. I've spent all my savings on treatment and medications which by his Grace, I will be healed.

I'm only pleading with good people of Nairaland to assist me financially as I humbly seek for

Technically he is correct. In privatisation the levels of performance directly relates to the overall capacity of the nation at that point in time. If Nigeria expects better service it should be prepared to make deeper comittments, deeper sacrifices. Government does not provide power. Power is business.

I am in the know of this. The power sector requires massive, really massive investments that have not been made for decades in the past to match the growth in population. To raise such capital fast you need an overly attractive business model that will draw out these finances from where they presently yield for the owners. It is this business model that the operators cannot square up because the rates that are currently paid cannot ROI in a normal scenario thoughtless of one where competition for investor funds is needed.

Our population is a big challenge here and at the rate we are progressing it will take several decades before we see the last power outages, probably not in my lifetime.

GEJ privatized PHCN. The ensuring distribution companies are in the hands of businessmen, not government.

to hell with fashola and fg, I don't need ur power I already have solar and generator in my home

useless pigs
Bros no talk like that
Its the responsibility of the government to provide us with the basic amenities we need and besides we pay tax.
The government has failed on water supply we buy water /dig boreholes.
The government has failed to provide shelter we work hard and pay rent /build our own.
The government has failed on power we've solved it by buying generators and installing solar panels.
If we continue like this a time will come we would start building roads to our house ,providing security for ourselves.
We need to make them take up their responsibilities.
