Question? Did they ever tell if kwaku had anything to do with America? Just watched his talent thingy for the first time. And i've been hearing his some phonetics (American style).
Good to know someone finnally asked about this?yep, KB asked kwaku's mom about his american accent last sunday night and the mom confessed that kwaku-t was in the states at 4 where he had his elementary school and still goes over there for his summer vacations cheesy cheesy what I found out was a common denominator in the latter part of the untouchables era i.e after max and meryl left was that the trio of lerato, bertha & max had all been to the states and were always talking about their time and experiences there! charley cool
Re: Big Brother Africa 2 (II)! by odada(m): 5:54am On Oct 10, 2007
Dont know if its just me but charley I feel maureen is a really scruffy girl and there she is talking about Richard being careless with his clothes and code does'nt know how to clean up good when home girl hardly ever dresses up!I mean charley shes always wearing that annoying 'red' sweater around the house
Re: Big Brother Africa 2 (II)! by Everbright(f): 7:45am On Oct 10, 2007
Yeah rite
Boreen so annoying sickly.

@ All,
Let's forget Kweku, because voting him is a waste of vote for now.
You know why?
5 countries are already in his favour, they are the four countries of the 4 untouchables and of course his home country Ghana, and trust me Nigeria won't waste her vote on him, since T and R are up for eviction.
Let's send T or R home and watch this game begin in earnest,
My prediction is that Kweku cannot in any way be a threa to our homegirl!

Let's play

In a great twist by Biggy, Code was ordered to take all the boys with him to the penthouse while the girls were left all to their own devices (which as we know of girls, do not exceed cooking, gossiping about the boys and generally goofing off). The Boys seemed to be having a whale of a time with tons of guzzle on hand and music blasting. (Now we know where the term 'Gazunga' came from. It's from a track that was played in the penthouse. Sorry no further details.) The girls on the other hand were also having fun baking up a storm. They made some chocolate cookies and a delicious-looking chocolate cake that just seemed to beckon me into my TV screen. Then they topped it off with some heavenly treacle poured all over the cake. They washed everything down with a curious mix of tea and white wine. shocked At some point while they were eating Tatiana was making sounds that reminded me of sounds you only hear in the bedroom (if you're the conservative type. Actually you can hear those sounds everywhere these days. Bathroom, Kitchen, Study, wherever the feeling takes you. wink)

While the cooking was going on, i got the distinct impression that one of them had narrated to the others an ordeal she had endured with a kingsized 'gazunga.' As they baked they all kept saying 'If it's too big, don't do it dawg.' Maureen added her own twist saying 'If it's too big, don't do it dawg. Just walk away and save yourself. It's not worth it' She was apparently mimicking Richard's way of talking. They suddenly got into full mimic mode and each took on a different role. Ofunneka became Tatiana, Maureen became Richard and Tatiana became the intermediary Ofunneka. It was hilarious. They played back the quarrels Richiana had been through with Tatiana rather convincing in her role as homegirl. But then, she's Angola's best actress, what do you expect?

The boys got to watch R.Kelly's unbelievable story-telling epic, "Trapped in the closet" which at least Code had never seen before. shocked I also suspect Kwaku hadn't seen it, but that would be a real letdown by the ghanamerican who knows every music star on a first name basis. Code was spouting rubbish about how Richard was slacking because he hadn't still bumped Tatiana and i'm like, 'look who's talking.' You and Maureen are not married yet you can't get any action and you're talking about Richard who has his vows to think about? Code is beginning to get on my nerves. His contrived american accent is really beginning to grate on my eardrums. And you can see he has to make an effort to speak like that; he has to take a moment to construct the sentences before actually saying them. At least Kwaku flows well with his accent and you can tell that such speech comes from a way of life.

Ofunneka made a startling revelation that she attempted to kill herself when her boyfriend with whom she lived for six months dumped her. i was like 'whoa. Homegirl who seems so level-headed? I would never have figured her for the type to attempt suicide over a guy. But hey, them no dey know finish, abi? She even showed a scar she sustained in the suicide attempt. That boyfriend will be biting his fingers now, seeing his ex-girlfriend being praised as the epitome of African womanhood and with a great chance of winning $100000 to boot. Eat your heart out. You never know what you have until you lose it. And for homegirl, this has to be the sweetest revenge ever, because now she can show him on international television what a frightful mistake he made.

Now that there are three people on Eviction Row, what happens if there is a tie? I suspect Richard and Kwaku may end up tied after the voting closes. Does this mean we'd have a double evicton? This one is really close. Africa would like to end Richard's 'misery' and send him back to his wife but the spectre of the Untouchables is still hanging over the house in the person of Kwaku, and there are still a lot of people out there who want to take out the last untouchable. By the way, i hear the Untouchables T-Shirt is selling like wildfire in South Africa (can any southies here please confirm this?) looks like a fantastic merchandising idea by the undeniably brainy untouchables which i hope will not be hijacked by Endemol. I hear the T-Shirt is personalized with your name at the back and The Untouchables in front. Brilliant Idea with a potential marketing reach covering the entire continent of Africa. if you'd like to have one, contact me and i'll let you know what it will cost. Even if you're not a fan, it would be nice to have some merchandise that ties in with this phenomenon that we're all so passionate about.

According to the girls in the house, regarding who i think will walk on sunday "i'm confused men, i don't know. I just don't know." (Never did find out who coined that phrase but it seems like they are mimicking Code.) Anyway, let's watch and see how this plays out, shall we?

Sweetheart, How are you doing today? Hook up with ya later.

Wow!!!! what a revelation! I was really touched, but did I hear something about the guy being married? Even at that nobody deserves to be hurt by anybody, for those that cannot withstand such emotional trauma, they tend to do some funny stuff like Ofu said she nearly commited suicide. shocked

For the HM that is leaving on Sunday, well I think a lot of people are voting for Kwaku and Richard for different reasons, but if its going to be between the two of them, I’d rather go for Kwaku.

The Big 5 should start making plans to brand their own T-shirt because that is the one I would like to place order for.

The Untouchables is a better sell than Big 5. At least in name, and cohesion.
The big5 is gradually becoming "The Big Floxy, Little Richard, Tiny boreen, Uhmmm hmmmm Code mmm (I just don't know, men) and others"

Why would anybody name his child Code.
Is he supposed to break the code all through his life.
The guy is always so confused.

His time deciding what to do with the nominations should win an award for the longest unsure indecision ever.
"Hmmmm, Ok, I replace Tatiana" "Hmmmm, I save myself, Yes, I save myself."

Dearest, i'm doing good. Yeah we'll catch up later. kiss

They've been bandying this 'married man' thing about all over the net. Where did they get it from? She never said the guy was married. She lived with him for six months. How do you live with a married man for six months? I watched her breakdown andi heard everything she said and i didn't hear her say that he was married.

I agree that Kwaku is preferable for the walk on Sunday but i think Richard might be the one leaving. Would really love for them to tie and give us a "real" double eviction this time.

@idealsico

I really cannot be bothered to respond to these occasional puritans who think say na them holy pass. I will just post a reply that i had earlier written on the Shower hour thread. It contains the right answers to all the commonly raised issues on the nudity in BBAII.

People, we're talking about a reality show here. R-E-A-L-I-T-Y!!! The nudity we are all complaining about, is it gratuitous nudity? As in, is it needless nudity? The housemates get naked to take their baths. In reality I'm sure everyone gets naked to take their baths. Those who choose to do it in front of cameras for a chance to win a life-changing sum of money are merely exercising their God-given freewill. If it upsets you, you also have the God-given freewill to change channels or activate the Parental Control feature on your decoder to protect your kids from the harrowing images of human beings taking a bath.

People talk about BBA being porn. I find that many of them have no idea what the word means. If they did they would never use that term in referring to the reality show. Pornography in this context is visual material or acts that embody violence, coercion, discrimination, force or brutality on women, men, children, or animals in sexual acts and represents them in degrading positions. How does this equal shower hour? I submit that shower hour adds no value to the show (as BBN was just as interesting without shower hour) but to say that human beings having their baths is pornography is just plain stupid.

Regarding broadcast ethics, they do not apply to pay tv. This is because broadcast rules vary from country to country and it would be hell for a service like DSTV to be in compliance with all broadcast rules across Africa. When you sign on to a pay TV service like DSTV a whole new set of rules kicks in. You contract to accept their programming as they deliver it. But DSTV went ahead to include parental control facilities in their service so people who wanted to restrict viewing of certain channels could do so. This argument is like the age old man/woman argument of toilet seat always up or always down. It won't ever be resolved.

But i say again, if BBA II offends your sensibilities, you have a list of options:

1.  Enable the Parental Control Feature on your decoder.
2.  Subscribe to DSTV Family Bouquet which doesn't carry Channel 198
3.  Entirely discontinue your patronage of DSTV.
4.  Publicly burn your DSTV Decoder in the middle of your street with a placard ' saying "purveyor of pornography"
5.  Or strap on 20 sticks of dynamite and with your decoder on your head go to Multichoice office and blow yourself and your decoder up in full view of the frightened staff.

Choose your option wisely because a couple of them are guaranteed not to have the desired result.
Re: Big Brother Africa 2 (II)! by debosky(m): 7:30pm On Oct 10, 2007
@ lawyerchap

I appreciate suggestion #5 the most! grin grin grin

Why should any responsible parent not monitor what is being shown on TV?

Other shows that are broadcast DAILY on DSTV have R18 ratings on them - sex, violence and much worse. The contents of these channels are clearly indicated for intending subscribers to know

If you make a conscious effort to restrict what you or your children have access to, then there will be no problem.

There is porn freely available on websites all over the 'net, to blame Big Brother and the like for the HIV, promiscuity and the like is escapist at best. Was there BB during the HIV epidemics striking most of Africa?

It is a reality show, people commit adultery in real life, cheat on their spouses and even worse. BB is not creating that or celebrating that, A reality show is meant to depict how people behave in real life. If it offends you, switch off! It is not being force fed down your throats, you do have a choice.

Negligence and refusal to do that on your part cannot be blamed on MC.

@Everbright, u said we should not waste our votes on Kwaku, i remember that the Untouchables where only meryl, max, lerato, bertha and kwaku. Who else? 5 countries to 7 means what then now, that kwaku will stay? He lives this sunday abeg,
Then Ofun said she felt suicidal when her ex left her, i can imagine how the wife felt too.

Please

those who watched

offu's confession

did she say her ex was married or not

I got into a convo with sum1 today and he actually hinted that what was the big deal in married men pursuing relationships with single girls

reasons
the single ones are not ready to get married
the single ones are worse i.e they can date 5 girls at a time
Re: Big Brother Africa 2 (II)! by mamus2010(f): 9:26pm On Oct 10, 2007
@ salsera,

she cohabited with the guy for 6months, if he was married , then where did he put his wife?

i just never associated ofuneka with insecurity, but then again, we never know these things!!

@lawyerchap,

those shouting pornography remind me of the monica lewinsky case!! larry king that has been married 8 times, with God knows how many lewinsky's under his belt had the guts to open his mouth and ask questions!!! truth is richiana is part of africa i.e. there are many married men and single women in relationships and vice versa, it has become a problem because the dirty linen is being washed in public!!most of the people crying pornography are guilty of adultery or coverting their neigbours wife!!

so like jesus, i would say "he who is without guilt should cast the 1st stone"

i watched her confession to tatiana and she never said her ex was (is)married, she said she had an intimate relationship as well as a bussiness relationship with him, as soon as the business went down, the relationship went down, this was after repeated warnings from friends and familly that the relationship aint going to last , but she gathered all her strenghth a woman could and invested a lot to prove to people she can make it (relationship)work. thats why she was so broken , she further said, after the break up, she cried everyday for one month. in conclusion she said thats why she doesnt judge people when the behave in a perculiar way (dont trust either)reason being that there just might be something they are after which never gets revealed till the deed is done.

reason married men date single girls, starters, no strings attached.
some women literally drive their husbands to the arms of this willing single girls due to their evil wicked acts of what they do or what they fail to do

Yes o i did! I don't understand how people hear things, but she never mentioned a married man. As i came to know it was BB who ordered Code to take the boys. It's like news got to him, that the populace wud unsubscribe to DSTV if Codreen had another PH session. Wateva they had planned to do, they shud do it in the house. Afterall they have been smooching since morning. It's so sick. Wen the guys went to the PH, BB called the girls over to watch them. They had something to say about each guy, and quite frankly had a good time. Maureen about how she talked about Code reveals that the foolish girl is so head over heels inlove with the dreadlocked Papa. T said the same o, that she's into R too, and that she's missing his presence. Homegirl later told her tale of woe begotten love to Tatiana. I feel her pain, but to commit suicide? After just 6 months?? Home girl shud get real! Is her self esteem that low? Anyway wateva the case, it must have been serious cos she cried her heart out, and most of wat she said wasn't so negligible. All the same, BB will make her go far. Hell, if i was a guy, i wud offer homegirl my undying, unconditional love on a platter of gold wen she gets out, with or without the money. The guy's head must have been swollen, to see her do that on international T.V cos of him(Mumu).

@All
I don't know why people are getting so riled up about shower hour, for G's sake, I don't even watch it, not because of any thing about it, but becos it's so BORING!
So some pipo shud get a grip.
Richiana are like a yoyo. Code has talked to them to handle things maturedly in order for the task to succeed. So now they are stable(for how long? That's their bizness).
I want T n R to stay, Kweku gots to go.
Someone said Kweku has 7 countries against him, which ain't true. Some countries are divided against RICHIANA. So there's gonna be a mixed vote. with God knows who'll get the highest.

Tforever cool

As for me, it is either kwaku or ofu that should win. d rest r just useless. i am very sure that if there were no cameras richiana will have had some nice bumping on the kitchen floor and in the lounge. how can u do that to ur dear wife. r u sure this dude is married sef. one day he decides to break up, another day he is kissing tatiana; the guy is really confused. i don't see d reason why ofu supports them; she talks about God a lot and will God support that kind of act. Code and boreen just get on my nerves, especially maureen. they just kiss from morning till night without tryin to do somethin different.

i think ofu is showing the green light to the guy who is 2 years younger than her to take next step after bb2. she always says that he is the guy she ever truly loved. as for me, i think she wants to get married quickly before she is no more appealing i.e she comes of age. anyway i still like her.
it seems to me that kwaku has studied all the characters in the house- he is going to get btw richard and tatiana soon. tat has a crush on him

kwaku or ofu for d money.

She has won. Real or not real. I was touched, although i'm still sceptical about her suicide attempt, in the sense that she has got to have insecurity issues to have reached that level, only after 6 months . I tot only oyinbo people did that. I know she'll win.

@Tampico
Are you assuming that she moved in with him the day they met? shocked She lived with him for six months, i expect they must have been dating for quite a while before she took the GIANT (and there is no way to exaggerate this) step of moving in with him. So her suicide attempt is not predicated upon the collapse of a six month-long relationship but on the failure of something she believed wholeheartedly in and braved daunting odds to do. How long would you need to have been dating a guy before you can even begin to contemplate moving in with him? 2 years? 4 years? Perhaps never? Well, i'm sure it took a lot out of Ofunneka for her to have made that decision and to have it crumble after six months.
