Dear All,
I went to the bank branch, I gave to NNPC for Transport Allowance today to confirm the account that deposited money into my account. They told me it was deposited by an online platform NEFT, I can't see the account number but only the description. I told them reason but they told me not to make any payment to personal account, that NNPC can write to them (Polaris Bank) to do the needfull. They told me specifically that they treated the same case last week. Those staff told if I deposited the money to the person and NNPC later write to them for deduction they will deduct the money from my account.
Nice step you took bro... Thumbs up!

Someone just told me now that it is money lundry. They used people names to carry money out of NNPC A/C.
Why are we paying to personal account? Why not corporate A/C? .
Is this someone named Chinedu? Asking for a friend.

Dear All,

Until there is an official message from NNPC that you should send money to a particular account, you should not refund anything yet.

There are 3 scenarios,

1. The people in charge of the payment actually committed an error, and are trying to get refunds to clear the balance.

2. There is a money laundering scheme ongoing at NNPC using the TF payment as cover.

3. Some people successfully hacked the database of phone numbers of people that came for interview (list of papers actually), and are trying to scam candidates (when they heard of the error).

.....

Scenario 1.
Truthful Error from NNPC

By the act of the corporation, it is unethical and absolutely not allowed for any staff/contractor to receive any money to a personal account. It is an offence that can lead to imprisonment.

Payment of TF is not a thing done by one Lazarus, or King, there are teams in charge. If they need to ask people to refund, they will use official channel of communication- Emails, SMS (without grammatical blunders), or use banks to place lien on defaulting accounts.

So, you should not send anything yet.

Scenario 2
Money Laundering at NNPC

One of the teams in charge of making payments discovered a loophole and decide to cash in on it. Here is how money is laundered. Send a bulk payment, say like 100m, to several accounts in smaller amounts (to bypass regulatory filters), then send a bulk message to the people to pay to a private account.

This might be from some people inside NNPC.

You should never reply to this request. You might be arrested in the future, if this is discovered by NNPC regulatory.

3. Scenario 3
Database Hack

Some people heard that there are errors in the payment, that some applicants are getting twice and thrice. They quickly hacked into the list of phone numbers. Created an account with the name seen in earlier payments, send a bulk message for people to refund. (Messages from non professional scammers are usually full of errors, like the one you received).

The scammers might actually be insiders in NNPC. You should not respond to the message, be smart and intelligent.

summary
Until there is an official clarification from NNPC saying that - this is the actual amount you are entitled to (do you know?), and that you have been overpaid, you should not respond to the fraudulent messages in circulation.

Geektrovert.

I once believed it’s a scam or money laundering before. It is not.

For those that were paid by King Anyam, they were paid from that account. Whether first payment, second or third. Those payment came from that particular account.

If you have any close contact in any bank, make your inquiry. Just ask them what’s the meaning of “Priority Account”.

Lol. The moniker "Sempumping" sounded so familiar but after going through my antecedents on this thread, I found the reason why.

As for the bolded, I hope not but if it is true that she was referring to me, then I am positive that she must have realised by now how hasty and silly she was.

Nevertheless, I prefare the new version of her because of what appears to be a high aptitude for learning. She is now like an autobot that has been updated with a more sophisticated and state of the art machine learning attributes structured towards learning and adjusting more efficiently from her mistakes. For instance, I discovered she has deleted a soft-pornographic image she once posted on her timeline some time ago. Glad to note that she heeded to my advice on repentance.

My 2 cents.

I haven't been paid ONCE, but anyone who credits that personal account Na MAGA.
This is an obvious case of embezzlement where they purposely over credited accounts with the hope of seeking for refund and hoping to get as much as they can back.

The fact that majority of people think this is a case of incompetency is laughable. grin grin

If you've worked with Indians who pay measly salary, you'd know this is how Nigerians make money during procurement.

Overcredit Agencies, then ask for refund to personal account(as per staff involved), rinse and then repeat.

DanXplore:
The payment issue is a typical case of gross incompetence on the part of the brains of the operation and no other reason. I had asked somewhere why applicants did not fill in their bank details online during registration or after successful interviews as it would have been by far more efficient, and errors like these would be easier to spot and correct. The latter is exactly what PTDF does.

Ayam King probably encountered problems during the manual copying & sortation of the account numbers and reconciling it with successful interviewees, something that would have been supereasy with an e-database.

For me, they should dance to the music of their administrative incompetence. There is absolutely no reason to refund the money without the decency of a notificstion from the corporation. This goes further to illustrate their level of incompetence.

Much as I advocate for everyone who received the multiple alerts to refund it, I strongly advise that we should be vigilant. There are alot of scammers on this platform. Please, do not make the mistake of sending this money to a fraud. Wait for an official communication for the NNPC. but in the meantime, keep the money

Thank you, I stated this earlier that the refund issue has been over flogged for too long.

We currently have a latest development as per the court issue, no one has sort to know NNPCs position on the "status quo" pronouncement from any of their sources.

We wasted some couple of days trying to interpret the courts decision and now we are wasting our time here bickering on this refund or not to refund issue.

Let's try to steer this thread on the right path or wait for NNPCs action.

Just my thought.

UPDATE!!!

I have been a strong believer that the refund is a scam but today I reached out to a contact.

ITS NOT A SCAM!!!

I shared the account number with him and the first thing he said was “This account is a priority account”. I tried getting info of the account but he refused to share anything with me. He keep saying it’s a priority acct. I explained that people got a text saying they should refund some NNPC double payment to that account and asked if he could help me ascertain if it was a scam. He said “A priority account cannot be used to run scam as it’s mostly used by authorized government officials”.

Just like if you see free money on the floor, ur moral compass will tell you it's wrong to pick it, but that greed in u will now start justifying how someone else will pick it and use it for evil if you don't pick it and pay ur school fees.

At the end f the day, YOU ARE STILL A COMMON THIEF!

There is a pending court case which is coming on 28th Oct,2019. I believe NNPC will win but pray the guy does not appeal the case. NNPC cannot make any final decision on this recruitment without the closure of the case. Focus on other things.

The incompetency is primarily due to the archaic method used in collecting and processing candidates bank details when they had the tools required to make it easier and more efficient.

Nigga, pulease! when did you become GMD? Refunding money is not the problem, but sending it to the wrong hand, is what worries people.
1. Has it even been proven beyond reasonable doubt that those that received tfare more than once were over paid?
2. Has it been proven beyond reasonable doubt, that the account to refund the money matches the account that sent the money in the first instance?
3. One guy was mentioning priority account, what is priority account and how does it work?
4. How could NNPC be making this mistake, don't they cross check or separate the accounts they've credited from the others?
5. Why sending refund message to those that only received tfare once, or non at all?

6. What's the latest on the recruitment, or "status quo" really means everything must be on hold, and no more sauces, even from panalyst and cavalier?
7. It's three months and 12 days now after the conclusion of the interview.
8. At least, no more "naijatruth, Easymoneysniper et al" of this Nairaland cheesy cheesy

Yes, NNPC didn't tell candidates directly how much would be paid but they had fixed an amount before the interview except the amount was reviewed after the interview.
When I wrote my name and account on the sheet (EH), I was asked for my number on my wrist band and the man verified the number against my name on the excel on the system, I saw N20k against my name. It was that minute I knew candidates from Lagos would be paid N20k. However, I am yet to be paid (11/07)

Why do you think are still using those archaic methods?

Or you think they aren't exposed enough?

You have answered yourself. If they have those tools to make the process more efficient and easier but insist on going manual, it reeks of CORRUPTION

They love those methods cos they can easily manipulate the process and claim you didn't write your account number properly.

Stay Woke!!

Ministries, Departments, Agencies In Secret Recruitments To Cover N9.2bn Fraud by fergie001(m): 9:20am
The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, Bolaji Owasanoye, yesterday revealed that after the ICPC discovered N9.2bn as over-bloated personnel costs of the ministries, departments and agencies, the MDAs went on secret recruitments for a cover-up.

“They hurriedly started employing people. Appointments given yesterday were backdated one year, and ad hoc staff upgraded,” he revealed.

Speaking before the joint Senate and House of Representatives Committee on Anti-corruption and Financial Crime at the 2020 budget defence, he said the ICPC had recovered the money from the various MDAs.

He said the money would have been “padded” as personnel costs if the commission had not discovered it.

“We got them to sign off the money. The money is now available for government to spend,” he stated.

He said he was embarrassed to see academic institutions involved in the sharp practice, calling for their inclusion in the IPPIS system before the October deadline.

He also advised that recruitment templates in all agencies of government be changed from offline to prevent recruitment scandal.

Suleiman Abdu Kwari, co-chairman of the committee, also confirmed that secret recruitment was ongoing in some MDAs.

He said the committee would collaborate with the ICPC to enforce action and make the country a better place.
