No, I don't think so.
Yoruba use tribal facial markings and tattoo on the arms (female). A (negative) tradition that is near extinction.
The northerners use tattoo also. Interestingly, not with materials that make the tattoo permanent. Just like buying a piece of clothing with the opportunity to discard it when you get tired if it.
Western tattoo is like a life thing. Why would anyone do make that hard choice?

Most times, when u have tattoo, you'll like to wear clothes that will always reveal it. This will make the tattoo bearer to most times dress skimpy. Ple see that kind of dressing as mark of irresponsibility and rascality.

If ur boyfriend's mom is a Christian, she will see ur tattoo as a mark disobedience to God's commandment as recorded in Leviticus 19:28 not to make any marking on ur body like the other nations mark the name or image of their gods on their bodies.
