South East has always had alliance with the North since 1960. It's only that the alliance has always been on a platform better than APC.
Remember Tafawa Balewa and Zik, Shehu Shagari and Ekwueme... These were all before PDP assumed power in 1999, and you well know the SE/SS had a very strong alliance with the North under PDP.
The good thing about PDP is that every region was carried along. Even as at 2007 when most of the SW states were won by Tinubu's AC, PDP still zoned the Speaker position to the South West. Every other geopolitical zone had at least one key government official. The only time SW was left out was in 2011 when they sold the Speaker slot to the NW which already had VP.
