Hello good people,good evening.
Now I am not here to beg for money or anything please.just a young man who needs advice.
I am a 27 year old businessman who is really worried.
Have been indoors for almost 5 days now and I am slowly losing my mind!
So I started a business(whiskey export to other African countries) at 21 which grew almost immediately to great heights.
Went bankrupt in 2016(all thanks to Emefiele) but got a grant from a friend which I reinvested in it and It picked up again.
Now here is the thing;
I think I have been so lucky in the past with this particular business and it seems my luck is running out these days.
The business still works but I think I've outgrown the way I use to do it in the past.(atlantic wahala for those that know) and does not make as much money like before.(I don't know if I'm being too greedy or stupid here)
I started importing from Europe after I stopped the Atlantic hustle but it no longer works due to exchange rate issues and also I think I have a very slow/unreliable/not too smart export agent in Europe who always get goods at very high prices and his logistics within Europe is something else,making the business impractical.so Europe is now out of it.
Now a friend of mine in the U.S has proposed that I come over that if I can raise $100k(I have the cash anyway),that he will give me a link to buy from Jack Daniels tenessee direct which will really make me excell and stand out.
But these are the things given me worries;
-I am also heavily indebted(10.4m forced to pay by law within 3 years).
-I also have a hunch that my friend in the US is trying to fool me or something but the only way to find out is to go there,which will be disappointing to blow 2m on travel expense to US only to find out it was all a con whereas I've got debt to pay!because it baffles me how with just $100k I will be buying from Jack Daniels directly without any middle man.
-Also I think my luck is running out because all of the things I have tried hands on since my business started shaking always come out bad.like bad things keep happening to me lately.The love of my life also left me too for reasons I cannot even understand.
-Also family history too.In my family,the 3 males(dad and 2 bros) picks up very early and crash in the end.
Just my eldest brother is still doing excellently.
My dad left my mom for another woman and he is now highly bankrupt and indebted.mom says he did well too very early.
My other brother who forcefully took over my mom's distribution company(successful) managed to wreck it few years after and he is just on a lifeline at the moment.mom just manages her real estate now and some of her political contacts.
- Mom has also been complaining bitterly how she does not see my future in business but in education.
So I am thinking;
Do I just end all of the thing,pay my debts,complete my projects and go back to school?Can a person do that after being in business and seen good cash and still succeed?
Continue with my atlantic routes which I know very well and manage the little money and stress like I did in the past not minding the risks?
Try out the American thing and see how it turns out despite being in a tight financial corner right now?
-Could it be truly that my luck is really running out?because I've done business for like 4 years and have had just minor losses until recently whereas some of my competitors keep experiencing disasters here and there?I wonder if a person can be that lucky without some major disaster waiting ahead.
Please help advise me because going bankrupt now can be catastrophic.
I no longer have the kind of strength and courage I had some few years back to start all over again.

Tbh I just read the last few paragraphs of your write up and I can tell you have already given up.

Will the bus conductor not go out of his house because he doesn’t like what he does? He will go out because he has to, that’s what being a man is, pushing hard until something buckles.

Business is all about risks, fortune will always favor the bold.

Make that sh!t work. But also be wise. Do your research. I’m sure jack daniels has a website and email.

I think it’s better to loose 2 million naira than loosing the whole $100k. It’s unwise to send someone $100k! You can just use the 2m to get over there to confirm how authentic the deal is cause just like you said the deal is too easy to be true based on the middle man thing!
And even if you get there and it turns out shady which I hope not! Who knows if you may stumble on some awesome business ideas while you are there!
My thoughts!

Risk and loss is part of business. If I were you, since I'm having doubt about my American friend, I'll stick to the Atlanta hustle. All the best, don't give up on your hustle.
