obailala: That's why I told you that your understanding of the passage means Peter was telling the gentiles that they can go have sex with their sister and mother because they are not under the commandment against such. The passage is simply about trying to enforce on the gentiles the law as a way towards salvation. That's what Peter kicked against because Jesus has already saved them. They don't need to obey the law towards salvation but towards a good life on Earth. If you don't have the Holy Spirit, you will never understand the word of God. |

Adakintroy: The law came from God. The Holy Spirit links you to God whom the law came from. I now wonder how you think what the Holy Spirit will receive from God will be different from what God gave the prophets of Old whom you said wrote the laws when they were carried by the spirit. |

alBHAGDADI: So if the law permitted it you think Christ would have done it someone that is God would do it. When Christ is without sin. Anyways I don't have time typing with you as this is my last message. Cos I see obviously a person who claims to be under grace and the law with your write ups so far. Nothing can be as dangerous as that cos dey are different and can't be mixed. I hope you retrace your steps and let God's grace guide you with the help of the Holy Spirit. I also see someone who thinks people who talk about fulfilment of the law as believers who sin and all. Anyways like I said its my last message to you. I pray God's grace keep u so you get more understanding of the gospel in order to effectively divide the word of truth. Selah |

alBHAGDADI: Are you sure you are carried along so or am I talking to one of those naira land troll who just want to spar intellectually. Your are not even basing your answers on the original question asked by op. Which is what need to obey the old covenant since there is a new one in Christian through the spirit. My answer was the spirit is a guide just as the law was. But even so a better one. I never said different. I said better or greater. Christ himself was led by this spirit. Without which he did nothing. If the law was so great and effective by itself. Christ won't have told them to wait here in Jerusalem till there promise spirit comes. " in the beginning was the word"( spirit life...pretty time, pretty creation self) if it exist before creation, what then is the bible, or written human languages. meaning the word existed before even the bible. Without the spirit even the bible you read would be meaningless. 1 Like |

alBHAGDADI: i read ur initial post though i disagree with somethings you said but u wrote well concerning tithes its not a new covenant or new testament practice and NOBODY paid tithes after Jesus died n resurrected Paul Peter James john etc never instructed any one to pay tithes, under the new covenant the way we give changed it was no longer under compulsion in case your wondering where it is said....2Co_9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. under the old covenant it was a must 1 Like |

Re: No Christians In Old Testament, Why Are They Forcing The Laws On Us? by alBHAGDADI: 2:44pm On Jun 09, 2019 |
ojhandsome: Giving is different from paying. Giving is freewill and no one will charge you if you do not give. The reason why tithe is different is because it belongs to God and that's why it is called paying. When you pay your house, you don't call it giving but paying. If you fail to, your landlord can say you are robbing him. That's why God said "will a man rob God?". So clearly, giving and paying are two different things, and nowhere did the apostles put an end to tithing. |
Re: No Christians In Old Testament, Why Are They Forcing The Laws On Us? by obailala(m): 2:48pm On Jun 09, 2019 |
alBHAGDADI:The laws were never bad, the overall target was for the Jews to love God and their neighbours; but then, the laws also had a lot of little impractical clauses here and there which made them in the words of Peter, more like a burden on the early Jews. The laws were like a contract, a debt owed by the Jews to God. "I have come not to abolish but rather to fulfil the laws", by that statement, Jesus wasnt saying we shouldn't love or reverence God or love our neighbours, rather He was saying He had paid off the contract debt so we're no longer under any obligation to burden ourselves with parts of the law which were impractical, burdensome and weightless; Christ wants us to live an easy life focused on the important things, i.e. loving God and loving your neighbours, not a life where we spend half of our time worrying about not working on a sabbath or not mixing fabric etc. 2 Likes |

alBHAGDADI: brother lets stick to bible and not feelings.... the apostles understood it has ended so no need mentioning it in the letter to the churches under the new covenant u will only see believers giving to others n for your information tithe was NEVER money in the old covenant even tho money was present as at then t was only farm produce and animals they where oda occupation other than farming they had brick layers bakers tent makers etc,so if your advocating for tithe do it as they did it in the old covenant start farming and rearing animals then carry your cow and your cassava to church under the new covenant no percentage was mentioned give as you have and and as you wish |

Re: No Christians In Old Testament, Why Are They Forcing The Laws On Us? by obailala(m): 3:03pm On Jun 09, 2019 |
alBHAGDADI:You're quite a funny person bro... seems like you're just arguing for the sake of it. When the bible said the old laws were no longer in place, the bible never taught us that there are no longer any laws anymore or that you're free to do whatever you like. Rather the bible taught us that the old laws have been REPLACED by new laws under a new covenant. The new laws under the new covenant equally prohibits you from engaging in sexual immorality. So I'm not sure I understand the relevance of this your obsession and insistence with "sex with sister" etc. And to make it clear to you, when Peter talked about not forcing the laws of Moses on Gentiles, he wasnt referring to the laws of Moses being a way to salvation as you've repeatedly and erroneously claimed. Go and read the entire chapter 15 of Acts. The gentiles had already accepted Christ and the people who insisted on forcing the laws of Moses on the Gentiles were also believers who had accepted Christ as the true way to salvation. Acts 15: 5. Then some of the believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees stood up and said, "The Gentiles must be circumcised and required to keep the law of Moses." And finally, I knew you were going to talk of the Holy Spirit; whenever they run out of ideas or are challenged to explain their position with scripture, they begin to claim they were told by the Holy Spirit. Brother, our God is not a God of confusion,, the Holy Spirit cannot give you a message that is contrary to what's clearly written in the bible. 2 Likes |

benji93:I can kill and still not disobey the law. 'Thou shall not kill' is majorly reffering to murder, genocide or any killing resulting from contempt. Israelites killed during the war, soldier kill enemies of the country and terrorist. you see where you are faulting? The purpose matter more. A man that killed forcefully out of self defense or a man who kill a child by hitting him with a car. do this law apply to them? Do you cross a brigde across the high way on a day declared no movement? The bridge was placed so as to avoid cars hitting people but on a day declared no movement day, Such law becomes void as ot purpose has be rendered void that day. Men were not made for the law, the laws were made for men. The big picture. |

alBHAGDADI: Hebrews 8:13 In that He says, “A new covenant ,” He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away. ================================== Romans 15:4 For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. I Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come. ( For better understanding, u can read 1cor 10) The old testament is there for us to learn and not for us to follow the laws... |

alBHAGDADI: Stop been a confudionist. Pls which descendant did Aaron came from if not from levy...why are you confusing yourself the more. Melchizedek received Abraham tithes does not mean we should continue in that light. Abraham was coming back from war he meet Melchizedek and gave him 10% of the loot not from what he has and he never did that again. Note Abraham didn't give from his blessings but from his loot...so you mean if we are to pay tithe according to how Abraham did we should go to war loot whatever we see and give 10% to the priest. You are simply confusionist. 2 Likes |

alBHAGDADI: You that read the Bible so those things where changed and tithing was not changed. Tithing was part of the law and everything was changed. The law was abolished including tithing. Pls read this bible verses and stop this argument about the law not been abolished The law was abolished. Acts The law is an unbearable yoke. (Acts 15:10) Romans The law reveals sin but cannot fix it. (Romans 3:20) If the law worked then faith would be irrelevant. (Romans 4:14) The law brings wrath upon those who follow it. (Romans 4:15) The purpose of the law was to increase sin. (Romans 5:20) Christians are not under the law. (Romans 6:14) Christians have been delivered from the law. (Romans 7:1-6) The law is good, perfect and holy but cannot help you be good, perfect or holy. (Romans 7:7-12) The law which promises life only brings death through sin. (Romans 7:10) The law makes you sinful beyond measure. (Romans 7:13) The law is weak. (Romans 8:2-3) 1 Corinthians The strength of sin is the law (1 Corinthians 15:56) 2 Corinthians The law is a ministry of death. (2 Corinthians 3:7) The law is a ministry of condemnation. (2 Corinthians 3:9) The law has no glory at all in comparison with the New Covenant. (2 Corinthians 3:10) The law is fading away. (2 Corinthians 3:11) Anywhere the law is preached it produces a mind-hardening and a heart-hardening veil. (2 Corinthians 3:14-15) Galatians The law justifies nobody. (Galatians 2:16) Christians are dead to the law. (Galatians 2:19) The law frustrates grace. (Galatians 2:21) To go back to the law after embracing faith is “stupid”. (Galatians 3:1) The law curses all who practice it and fail to do it perfectly. (Galatians 3:10) The law has nothing to do with faith. (Galatians 3:11-12) The law was a curse that Christ redeemed us from. (Galatians 3:13) The law functioned in God’s purpose as a temporary covenant from Moses till John the Baptist announced Christ. (Galatians 3:16 & 19, also see… Matthew 11:12-13, Luke 16:16) If the law worked God would have used it to save us. (Galatians 3:21) The law was our prison. (Galatians 3:23) The law makes you a slave like Hagar. (Galatians 4:24) Ephesians Christ has abolished the law which was a wall of hostility (Ephesians 2:15) Philippians Paul considered everything the law gained him as “skybalon” which is Greek for “poop”. (Philippians 3:4- 1 Timothy The law is only good if used in the right context. (1 Timothy 1: (see next verse for the context) It was made for the unrighteous but not for the righteous. (1 Timothy 1:9-10) Hebrews The law is weak, useless and makes nothing perfect. (Hebrews 7:18-19) God has found fault with it and created a better covenant, enacted on better promises. (Hebrews 8:7- It is obsolete, growing old and ready to vanish. (Hebrews 8:13) It is only a shadow of good things to come and will never make someone perfect. (Hebrews 10:1) Well there you have it… 37 scriptures that make a very convincing arguement. 3 Likes 2 Shares |
